The first few classes were good for Alex. She was wearing a beanie and sat in the back of each class so nobody really noticed her.

She kept to herself and took notes. She would doodle in her notebook and would look up every now and then.

She could see Caleb and his stupid face sitting in the front of each class answering every question. She wished they were still talking so she could punch him in his stupid teeth.

Jacob would occasionally look back at her but she wouldn't really notice because she had her head down in her notebook.

This was the last class there was before combat class. When the bell rang, Alex picked up her stuff and left the class.

She had to find the gym and hid in her father's office. She locked the door and took the clothes out of her bag. She started to get changed.

From the other side, Grant was trying to get into his office and had to get his key and unlocked the door. He walked in, closed the door and saw Alex getting changed by his desk. He groaned and turned away covering his eyes.

"I'm almost done, Dad. You don't need to get your panties in a twist." She said and finished getting ready. She fixed her hair and put the beanie back on.

"Also can we do light to no running today because I got my period and cramps are a bitch." She said tying her shoe laces.

"Sure, sure, whatever can you just not get changed in here again?" He asked keeping his back turned.

"Okay okay now turn around. Dad, do I look okay?" She asked looking at him. He turned around and looked at his daughter.

"Well besides the fact that you have boobs and are wearing clothes that were cut for females, you look like a guy." He said looking at her.

Alex sighed and looked at her Dad. "I really can't pass as a guy the slightest bit?" She asked looking at him as Grant shook his head.

"It's obvious you're not a guy." He said and took off the beanie from her head and kissed the top of her head.

"What are you doing dad?" Alex asked as her father took her hair brush and a hair tie and pulled her hair back into a ponytail.

"You go be you and don't get worried because the first person that says boo too you has to deal with me." Grant said looking at his daughter.

"Thanks, daddy. I love you." She said hugging her father tightly. He smiled and hugged her back. "I love you too. Now shoo." He said as she smiled and walked away.

"I'm proud of you!" She heard her dad call as she walked away. She shook her head with a smile. He was such a dad.

She took a deep breathe and looked at the doors going into the gym. She opened the doors and saw a bunch of guys.

'You can do this, just blend in and they won't question it.' She thought to herself. 'You have boobs and you're wearing short shorts."

A guy walked over to her. Jacob. She was relieved it was someone she knew already. "How you holding out?" He asked looking at her as she shrugged.

"I'm fine. There's just so much testosterone in one room." She said looking up at Jacob with a smirk.

He let out a laugh. "I wonder how it is at the girls division. The divisons are stupid. They split us up for two years then they put us together for the last two years. They should just keep us separated or together the whole time." He said to her.

"That's what I told my Grandpa Nick but he normally just glares at me and tells me that he knows what he's doing. He has an eyepatch and when I was little I thought he was a pirate." She said looking at him.

"You mean Nick Fury?! He's the director of SHIELD and the badass." Jacob said looking at her. "And you call him grandpa. I wish he was my grandpa."

"Trust me it's not that fun when you have assassin as parents when you want to date." She said looking at him.

"Both of your parents are assassins? That's amazing? Who's your-" Jacob went to ask but was cut off by a whistle blowing.

"Line up." Grant ordered they all got into rows and Alex just hide in the back row.

"Today we are going to be working on hand to hand combat but first, you have 3 minutes to stretch out. Go." Grant said dismissively.

Alex was able to go down into a full split and Jacob just looked back at her. "Show off." He mouthed before trying to go down as far as he could.

Alex looked at him. "What?" She mouthed back then reached to the left, then the right, and then all the way down the middle until she was pressed against the ground.

Grant was just kinda walking around keeping an eye on all of them. When he walked behind Alex, she brought her foot back and tripped him.

He tripped a few steps forward but eventually caught his balance and had the boys' eyes on him. Alex turned away to keep from smirking

"Another 30 seconds." Grant said as the boys, with the excepting of Alex, finished stretching.

After 30 seconds, Grant started talking again. "Everyone off to the sides." And just like that everyone moved over towards the sides.

Grant brought over a mat and unfolded it. It was big enough to fight on. "I'm going to demonstrate how we're going to fight but I need a partner." He said before looking across the room to see Alex crossing her arms and mouthing 'NO.'

Grant just got a smirk on his face. "Ward, come up here." Grant said in a calm voice.

Alex flipped off Grant and stood up. All of the eyes in the room were on her. She walked over to Grant and looked at him.

"So I'm-we're going to show you what an actual fight looks like." Grant said as Alex glared at him. "So you first face your partner and bow then you fight. While you fight, you don't stay flat footed, you stay bouncing on your toes." He looked at Alex and mouthed 'light.'

Alex went in with a high kick but Grant took her down quickly. She did side fall and to get up, she did a kipup(if you don't know what those things are, I'm attracting links at the top of the story to what they are.) to get back up. When Grant came at her she just reacted and took him down by doing a hip throw.

Grant did a side fall and landed on the mats. Alex offered him her hand which he took and he helped her up. "I said light." Grant whispered.  "That's enough demonstrating." Grant said.

"And that's what's we're going to be doing today, Alex you can take a seat." Grant said as Alex sat down at the end next to Jacob.

"You just kicked your father's ass." Jacob whispered into her ear.

"He makes me fight when I'm on my period, of course I'm gonna hip throw him." She said looking at Jacob who just smiled.

"There's a guy who's been staring at you. His name is Caleb Stork." Jacob said looking over at her.

"Yeah that's the ex boyfriend I was telling you about. The one that was a man whore. That's him." She said looking back at him.

"Him? You could do so much better than him." He said as she tried not to die of laughter.

As the class continued, Grant let Alex go up against the cocky guys to put them in their places and everyone had at least 3 fights.

"Okay this is going to be the last fight. Ward and Stork up here." Grant said as Alex and Caleb both got up. They both had a burning hatred for the other one so this was going to be real fighting.

They both got up there, faced the other, and bowed. They both were strong with their technique but Alex was way better, She was a Ward after all.

Alex was able to take Caleb down but he pulled her down with him. She ended up getting him into a choke which he had to tap out of.

Caleb looked over at her and whispered. "This wouldn't be the first time we've been all hot and sweaty and down on the ground." That earned him a knee to the balls and a slap across the face from Alex. All of the guys in the room winced including Grant.

"Okay that's enough fighting for today. Hit the showers you all smell." Grant said looking at the boys.

Alex did a kipup to get up then held her hand out to Caleb and helped him up. "Karma's a bitch isn't it." Caleb mumbled.

"Oh honey, this karma hasn't even started yet." Alex said looking at him as he mumbled things walking away.

"Did you see that, daddy! Did you see how much of a badass I am! Did you? Did you? Did you?!" She asked excitedly hugging her father.

"Yes, yes I saw and I'm proud of you. But you got to stop kicking and kneeing guys in the balls when you're angry." Grant said looking at his daughter. "Now can you get off of me, you're really sweaty and don't smell great." He said as she smiled and pulled back.

"Okay, I'm gonna go shower. Love you, see you tomorrow." She said before walking away. For the first time in a long time, she felt confident.
