Breaking Dawn Part 2

"You found him!" Esme exclaimed as she opened the door for both Jasper and Emmett.

"Where is she," Emmett growled as he shoved past her.

"In Carlisle's office," Esme replied, the smile fading from her face as she felt the tension between her two boys.

"I swear to god, if this was all just some elaborate trick to get me back here-"

"It's not a trick," Jasper ground out. "She really is in transition."

Emmett suddenly vanished as he sped off to Carlisle's office. Jasper shook his head and walked in to the house.

"I'm just grateful you found him in time," Esme smiled. "He'll come around once he see's for himself."

"Truth is, I had a little help," Jasper informed her. "I wouldn't have gotten to him in time if it hadn't been for her," he said.

"You mean Jackie?" Esme questioned.

"Yeah," he nodded. "Somehow she projected herself to him and got him to stop long enough for me to catch up to him," Jasper explained.

There was a sparkle of awe in Esme's eye. She wondered what special gifts her new daughter in law may possess.

As Jasper and her entered the room, they saw Emmett sitting next to Jackie. He was holding her hand and right where he should be, Esme thought with a smile. To think, in just a few short hours she would have not one but two newborn daughter in laws.

Emmett kept shaking his head in disbelief, muttering over and over again.

"I'm here now baby, I'm here," he said lifting up her arm and kissing her hand. "I'm never gonna leave your side again," he whispered.

It had been three days since both Bella and Jackie had started transitioning. Even though she was on the other side of the house, Emmett could hear Bella's heart beat one final time as she took her last breath. She was awake.

He hoped it wouldn't be long before Jackie did the same. As if on cue, Jackie's heart gave one more beat before she too exhaled a final breath. Emmett smiled as her eyes fluttered open. Gripping his hand, she slowly sat up.

God she was beautiful before, but now she was absolutely breath taking. She could rival even the most beautiful of models or actresses. Emmett grinned at the thought of having to beat hordes of men off of her.

Jackie's eyes adjusted to everything around her. It was incredible how she could see the tiniest of dust particles dancing in the sun, to the smallest print on the binding of a book yards away. She slowly sat up and tried to stand, but she felt like a new born deer on wobbly legs.

Emmett's rock solid arm encircled her waist and for the first time, Jackie finally understood how hard it must have been for him to be so gentle with her. She looked up at him and her breath hitched in her throat, it was like she was seeing him for the first time and he was incredible.

Suddenly it hit her, she had already loved him before, but now she knew he truly was her soul mate. Grasping his shoulders, she pulled him into a tight hug allowing his scent to overtake her. It was amazing that she had never noticed his natural manly musk before. Fresh pine, mulled cider and sunshine invaded her senses.

As she pulled away, Emmett caressed her cheek with his thumb. His smile faded into a frown as he looked into her eyes.

"What's wrong?" she asked, suddenly worried.

"I'm sure it's nothing," he assured her.

"But, what?" she asked again, slightly annoyed.

"It's just, when a newborn awakes, they usually have red eyes," he began as he turned her around to face a mirror. "But your's," he said wrapping his arms around her waist, "are amber."

"Usually that only happens after a few months of our all animal diet," he continued. "We'll ask Carlisle about it, but first I think we should get you fed."

She turned around in his arms and smiled up at him, planting a quick kiss on his lips before hoping on to his back. He grinned at her in the mirror before flashing off into the forest. It was no longer a blur to her as her eyes took in her surroundings. For a moment her breath hitched as Emmett headed straight for a tree. She silently freaked out but was excited when Emmett's large body exploded through it.

He jumpt up, using his powerful legs, and they lept over the tallest of trees. Jackie clutched on to him tighter at the feeling of free falling. It was incredible.

Moments later, they had caught up to Edward and Bella who were also hunting. Bella flashed over to Jackie and with a smile grabbed her into an incredible hug. Jackie flinched at Bella's strength but remained silent. Shouldn't she be just as strong as Bella, she wondered.

As the girls pulled away, Jackie noticed that Bella's eyes were indeed red, just as Emmett had said. Both Edward and Bella frowned when they saw Jackie's eyes.

"Is it bad?" Jackie asked, knowing that Edward was the second oldest vampire in the Cullen clan. Surely someone else in the history of vampires had been reborn with amber eyes.

"Not bad," Edward assured her. "Just different," he smiled. "Now, get over here, little sis," he said as he opened his arms and pulled her in for a hug.

Suddenly, as they pulled away, a strange scent blew on the wind. Immediately Bella's eyes went dark as she began snarling and growling in hunger.

"Bella don't," Edward said but it was too late. She had vanished, rushing off over taken by the smell of human blood.

"I'm sorry," Emmett said as he stepped closer to Jackie. He was ready to restrain her if needed. "Ed and I didn't realize there would be people this far off in the trail," he explained.

"It's fine," Jackie said waving it off. "It really doesn't appeal to me," she insisted.

"Really?" Emmett asked raising his eyebrows as he came to stand in front of her.

"Yeah," she replied as she simply nodded her forehead.

Emmett looked amazed but Jackie wasn't sure what was such a big deal about all this.

"Jackie," he said grabbing her hands. "Even mature vampires have problems with the smell of human blood.

"Oh." Her face fell downcast. Another thing to add to the growing list of her 'newborn abnormalities' she thought.

"Come on," he said turning her around, "let's get you fed and then I think we should head back to Carlisle for some observations.

"I don't think I'm ready for this," she told Emmett shaking her head. She didn't feel very hungry and she definitely didn't feel like killing any animals today.

"Sure you are," he chuckled. "You're a vampire now," he reminded her, "you're going to be a natural born killer."

"If you say so," she muttered as she followed him to a cliff.

Just a few feet below was a deer, unaware of their presence. Emmett nodded his head in approval as Jackie slowly and quietly edged closer. Jackie lunged, easily capturing the deer in her grasp.

Suddenly Emmett caught the scent of a bear. His eyes grew wide as it ran out of the brush towards Jackie, snapping it's jaws and snarling at her. Jackie dropped her prey and it scurried off, but she, herself was like a deer caught in the head lights, unmoving as the bear raged forward.

The protector in Emmett jumped into action as he flashed forward past Jackie meeting the bear head on. The bear was no match for him as Emmett gripped both the top and bottom of the bear's snout. With little effort, he forced the bear back away from his wife before wrenching the jaws of the bear apart. It yelped in pain, the bear's paws grabbing at it's own snout. Emmett lifted it off the ground by it's scruff and quickly snapped the animal's neck. The bear dropped into a heap before Emmett rushed over to his mate.

Emmett tried to grab her into his arms, but Jackie refused to be comforted.

"I told you I wasn't ready for this," she screamed at him. Her tiny fists beating against his chest. "I told you."

She finally collapsed into his powerful arms. He crushed her to his chest, cradling her against him. She was unlike any vampire or newborn before her. His chest puffed with pride as it was evident she was not nearly as strong as him. He couldn't help but smile knowing his mate would still need his strength and protection.

"I'm sorry," he mumbled into her hair. "I shouldn't have forced you. I'm sorry."

"Would you like to at least try some bear?" he asked. "I promise it's quite tasty," he added as she looked up at him and smiled.

She nodded her head and he set her back down.

"Just bite into it's neck," Emmett explained as she crouched down on her knees. Gently she tilted the bear to the side before lifting it's head up to her mouth. Closing her eyes she leaned forward and bit down.

"Fascinating!" Carlilse exclaimed. "This is absolutely remarkable," he said as he inspected Jackie's eye color. He shifted her head slightly as he flashed the otoscope across her eyes. "You said she woke up like this?" Carlisle asked Emmett.

"Yes," he replied. "We also tested some other things," Emmett informed him.

"She's definitely just as fast as me," Emmett explained, "and I know I'm pretty incredible," he said with a cocky grin, "but she's not even slightly as strong as me."

"Really?" Carlisle questioned.

Jackie nodded her head in agreement.

"That's odd for a newborn," Carlisle frowned.

"I'm not even sure she is a newborn," Emmett said. "Bella smelled human blood and went crazy, but Jackie showed incredible restraint. She didn't even flinch!" Emmett beamed pridefully.

Carlisle seemed in deep thought as he contemplated the newborn Jackie. "I would say that none of this is normal," he began. "But a few weeks ago, a vampire got a human pregnant, a hybrid was born who is growing at an alarming rate, and my newborn daughter in law doesn't appear to be newborn at all," he said smiling at her. "Who knows what normal is anymore," he joked.

Jackie still didn't feel any better about herself. She knew she wasn't a normal newborn. "Can we keep all this just amongst us?" she asked as she shifted around nervously.

"Of course," Carlisle said as he placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "But you know, nobody here will make you feel inferior."

"Yeah and if anyone does," Emmett said punching his fist into his other hand, cracking his knuckles. "You come find me."

Emmett pulled Jackie into a hug and kissed the top of her forehead.

"You're absolutely perfect," he whispered into her ear, "just the way you are."
