Chapter 10

The next morning, Emmett, Jackie and the girls took Edward and Bella to the airport so Bella could see her mom in Florida. As they pulled up to the drop off, Emmett and Jackie hopped out to help with their luggage.

"I think that's everything," Jackie smiled as she handed Bella her carry on. "You guys have fun!"

"Yeah, you too," replied Bella.

"Yeah, no working on the weekend," Edward reprimanded with an all knowing smile.

"Oh, I'm finished with the CDC," Jackie explained. "I just have to help give out some immunizations at the reservation tomorrow."

Edward immediately heard Emmett's curse filled objections running through his head.

"I'm sure everything will be fine," he nodded reassuringly at his brother.

"Of course it will be," Bella frowned.

Deep down, Emmett knew she was right. The Quileute would never hurt a human but he still didn't like it.

"Hey," Bella suddenly asked, "if you see Jacob Black, will you tell him to call me?" She looked so desperate, Jackie couldn't object. After making Jackie promise, Bella finally grabbed Edward's hand and they walked into the airport.

The rest of the afternoon, they explored Port Angeles and enjoyed a delicious lunch together. Despite her objections, Emmett spoiled the girls, buying them anything they asked for. Both girls, however, eventually crashed from a sugar high and Emmett was forced to carry them back to the car.

As they pulled up to Jackie's house, Emmett informed her that Jasper wanted Emmett to go fishing with him. Jackie would never admit it, but she was nervous. This would be her first night alone since the break in. Emmett didn't like the idea either, but had no other choice as his family was hunting the red headed vampire Victoria.

Emmett gathered Jackie in his arms and kissed her passionately before he left.

Later that night, with the girls in bed, Jackie went to her room to unwind and watch a little tv. She flipped through the channels a hundred times before finally settling on an old Buffy the Vampire Slayer rerun. She smiled, thinking about how hot Angel was, as she drifted off to sleep.

A few hours later, she awoke, startled out of her dreams. Something felt wrong. Squinting into the darkness, she saw something large standing in the doorway. Convinced the shadowy figure was about to attack her, Jackie let out a small shriek as she quickly tried to scramble off the bed.

"Jackie!" Emmett's deep voice boomed as he tried to calm her. "It's just me."

He stepped into the room and turned on the light.

Jackie blinked a few times, cursing under her breath as her eyes adjusted to the light.

"What is wrong with you?" she cried grabbing her chest. "You nearly gave me a heart attack."

"I'm sorry," he muttered.

"You're soaking wet," Jackie exclaimed, taking in his appearance.

He clenched and unclenched his fists multiple times before finally answering, his entire body radiated with anger.

"Yeah," he huffed, "I fell into the river."

Jackie chuckled.

"It's not funny," he glared.

She had never seen him so furious before. "I'm sorry," she whispered as she immediately stopped laughing.

Emmett looked down at her, so small and scared. What had he done?

"I didn't mean to yell at you," he said.

Emmett's expression softened as he reached out to pull her into his arms.
Jackie flinched and took a step back. Emmett furrowed his eyebrows.

"You know I would never hurt you, right?"

She nodded but Emmett could tell she was obviously still haunted by something.

After some time of awkward silence, Emmett debated whether or not he should just go home. Feeling guilty and frustrated, he couldn't stand the silence anymore and impatiently shifted on his feet.

"I'll, just, see you tomorrow," he sighed and turned to leave. He was at the top of the stairs when she finally decided to go after him.

"Emmett, wait," she grabbed his arm. "Why don't you go take a hot shower and I'll put your wet clothes in the dryer."

"Are you sure?" he questioned. "I truly am sorry," he added. "I never should have come here while I was so angry."

Jackie nodded, "It's ok. Really, I forgive you."

"I'm going to check on the girls," she told him. "Just leave the door unlocked and I'll grab your clothes in a minute," she instructed.

Seeing both girls still sound asleep, she sighed in relief, happy they hadn't heard her and Emmett's argument. A few moments later, she heard the shower turn on. She quietly grabbed Emmett's clothes and ran downstairs to put them in the dryer.

Pausing for a moment to clear her head, she questioned what was wrong with her. Emmett was nothing like John and he would definitely never hurt her. She needed to pull herself together and get over this.

With a fresh perspective, she climbed back up the stairs and headed to her room to wait for Emmett. She wanted to show him how much she cared for him and that she trusted him. Quickly she changed for bed, deciding on a lacey light blue cami and matching boy shorts.

Hearing his heavy footsteps coming down the hall, she hoped he was in a better mood. He leaned against the doorframe with nothing more than a towel wrapped around his middle and a seductive smirk on his face. He was definitely in a better mood.

A lone droplet of water slid down his large, powerful chest, trailing down his ripped core. His broad shoulders filled the entire width of the door way as he stood there, watching her, flexing his impossibly massive biceps.

"See anything you like?" he asked raising a cocky eyebrow at her.

She smiled in return, hopping off the bed- two could play that game. With a sultry look, she sauntered over to him, letting her tongue trace up the path the water had trailed down. Leaning up, she placed a soft kiss on his lips.

Effortlessly, he grabbed her up and her legs wrapped around his waist. Her chest brushed against his as her hands snaked around his neck and her fingers dug into his muscular shoulders.

With blinding speed, he crushed her to the wall as he held her body in place with his. She gasped as the impact forced the air out of her lungs.
Upon hearing a thud, he pulled back looking into her face fearing he may have hurt her. Instead he was met with a twinkle in her eyes as she was fascinated by the inhuman strength he seemed to posses. She smiled at him, encouragingly massaging his chest. He slid a hand up her spine, pulling her from the wall and engulfing her in his incredibly strong arms.

Carrying her over to the bed he kissed her, willing her to open up to him. Her lips parted, granting him access, and he explored every crevice. Their tounges battled for dominance- his won of course.

The bed groaned in objection to his weight as he laid back against the wall with her straddling his hips. When they finally broke apart, he smiled, watching her struggle for air. She sat back on her haunches, amazed that he wasnt.

Gently he grabbed the back of her neck and pulled her down on top of him, kissing her while snaking a hand underneath her shirt. She inhaled sharply when he cupped one of her breasts. Letting out a deep feral growl, his passion grew to an incredible length and thickness. Her eyes widened in disbelief and he smirked, proud of his ability to impress her.

He could feel his eyes go dark. He wanted her. All of her. And he was slowly starting to lose control. He didn't care anymore. He wanted to make her his own.

She winced as he roughly gripped her thigh and forcefully thrust his hips into her. As one hand tugged on her panties, his other explored under her shirt. A moan escaped her lips as Emmett's mouth began caressing her neck.

Fixated on the pulse in her artery, Emmett pulled back, feeling his fangs elongate. He nearly sunk his teeth into her.

Immediately he pulled away from her. Lifting her off himself, he sat up and placed his head in his hands.

Silently he cursed.

"Did I do something wrong?" Jackie whispered behind him.

For the second time that night, Emmett felt incredibly guilty. Turning around he gripped both of her small hands in his.

"No," he tried to explain. "You were perfect," he whispered refusing to make eye contact with her. "You need to understand," he continued. "I almost hurt you," he whispered again.

She crawled over to him, cupping his face in her hands forcing him to look at her.

"That's impossible," she caressed his cheek with her thumb.

"Oh really?" He exclaimed. "What about this?" he said pointing out the dark hand shaped bruise on her thigh. "Or this?" He pointed out another bruise on her upper bicep. "I'm sure there's one on your back and..."

He was cut off as Jackie pressed her lips to his.

"I don't care," she told him.

He began to protest but was interrupted again.

"Look, I know you're like some descendant of Hercules or something, but we'll figure things out, ok?" She kissed him again.

He laid back, pulling her half way on top of him, her head resting on his chest.

"Ok," he sighed not fully convinced. He lightly rubbed circles on her back and within minutes Jackie was sound asleep. As he watched her sleep, he realized for the first time, that he either needed to tell her the truth, or he needed to let her go.
