660 - From an alternate reality
Pyro Junior - Age: 21 (621)
I look down at my mother's grave and as I do I smile.
-I found a way to my dad.
I sigh and needing her voice I turn on the hologram of her.
Vivian-Welcome back son. How are you doing?
I chuckle cleaning my tears at how good this is.
-I'm good. I just wanted to say goodbye.
Vivian-How long will you be gone?
-I don't know. Hopefully is forever but I don't know what will happen.
Vivian-You need any sort of advice on your decisions?
-You know of my father, right?
Vivian-I do. I have all your mother's memories in me, and feelings although I can't express the feelings as she would. She loved your father dearly and it was hard for her when he died on the war of the gods. It was hard raising you alone but she was strong and gave her all for you whom she also loved dearly.
-I know but now then, did my mom had any powers? Superhuman abilities or something like that.
Vivian-She did not had any powers.
-So my powers are from my dad. What powers did he had? Or even better, how does he look?
Vivian-His powers were of cold things such as ice, winter, ice, shadows amongst other things related with water. He was tall and skinny but strong, blonde spiky hair, bright red eyes.
-Do I look like him?
Vivian-Yes, except the eyes.
I can't help but laugh at the remark, nobody ever told me but I have seen my eyes and I have seen mom's eyes. I can tell I got that from her and I like it.
-Thanks for speaking with me. I'm leaving, can I have my blessing?
Vivian-Have a good trip and be safe. It was a pleasure to advise you and waving your goodbyes before you left.
-Goodbye.
Vivian-Goodbye.
I turn off the hologram and disconnecting it I take it along with me. I don't want to stop seeing her this way no matter how good I remember her myself. Now I just have to pick up my things and leave.
A few days later I'm already on the other reality looking for my dad. I'm frustrated as here everything is harder and slower. In my world there were small towns or big cities but there weren't many, just five big cities and a whole bunch of small towns with most of them abandoned and being wastelands. Only four of about a hundred were able to survive, I was lucky enough to live in the best town and also the biggest and the smallest city. I liked that last city, it wasn't that full of people but the people that lived there were the best in my opinion. We lived quickly but we lived a lot thanks to our fast and advanced technology. In this world is way more crowded and the technology is good but not as advanced, I'm not used to this but I still like it. Maybe because is new or maybe because of something else, I don't know. Maybe I like it because here there is more variety to nature and animals. Two things that my reality doesn't has, the only ones we do have are bred and grown to sustain us as our food and air but here they have the real things growing free, for entertainment, food and many more activities. I learned about them in class but it was a dream there, maybe here I can make it a reality.
I sigh and saving my things I go out to look for my dad. Is quite hard to find in a city as big and crowded as this one but I manage to find it. I smile at how he works at a coffee shop. It looks like a nice place and so I go inside. I look around before I sit down somewhere close to the backwall. Now to wait and see what happens.
After a few hours I already ate some portions of cake, a few hot chocolates while I write in my computer. The books I'm writing right now is a romantic fiction. I try to make it intense, deeply emotional and interesting to the readers. The online books are the first I publish and is mostly a free preview. Then the actual book is published and a few of them get signed by me. In eventuality, I save the progress and I lean back in my seat to rest my eyes a little bit. I don't realize I felt asleep until I wake up as someone shakes my shoulder gently.
-Damn. I'm awake, I wasn't asleep. I'm, I'm.............
Olivia-We're closing. Do you need anything? Any help at all.
-Yeah. Let's see. One, a box to take this.
Olivia-Sure and I'll be back for two.
I laugh as she disappears in the kitchen for a box and I start saving my stuff on my bags. I have to ask someone about my issue. Get some leads and women are more prone to help efficiently than guys.
Olivia-Sir. Your box.
-Ah. Thank you. Sorry for sleeping here.
Olivia-Is alright. That means you feel good here.
-Is weird. This place is so different from home but it still feels like home. Maybe is because the food is delicious.
Olivia-I hope is us but if not you're still happy.
I laugh and as we get out of the restaurant that she closes up I help her waiting to ask.
Olivia-Alrighty then, that's closed. What else can I help you with?
-Well, where do you recommend I stay the night or to live. I'm new here and I think I'm going to stay here and settle down.
Olivia-This is a good place to live. Not so slow or fast. Not cheap or expensive. Is a neutral life perfect for most people as is my family. I'm not updated about any houses for sale but I can check with you.
-You don't have hotels here?
Olivia-No. We used to but they were never used that much so they closed down and when they built houses on their place they were sold before a month had passed.
-Perspective.
Olivia-Oh, don't worry about it. You can stay at my place with our family. Still, I should warn you, is a very big family so is very noisy.
-The city is noisy.
Olivia-Good point but you'll understand when we get there.
We keep walking and as we get further away from the city limits I remember something else so I ask.
-Hey, something else I want to ask.
Olivia-Something else?
-A lot more but, little by little you know, slowly.
Olivia-Great. So, ask.
-Do you own the coffee shop?
Olivia-Most of it. My dad owns it too but I own the biggest part.
-60 and 40?
Olivia-55 and 45.
-You know, I feel at ease with you. Like I can trust you.
Olivia-Nobody has felt so deep with me, they talk and I listen but to trust me, that's too much serious.
-That's how I feel.
Olivia-You said perspective earlier but I can't tell how that fits in anything we have talked so far. What's your meaning of perspective?
-Well, basically, life is a matter of perspective. In everything we do, say or live, is perspective. The lion and the zebra. The lion's perspective is happy because he's eating and living but the zebra's perspective is sad because is the end of their life.
Olivia-Not the best metaphor but I understand.
-You're right. Is not my best metaphor but if you understand it then what does it matter?
Olivia-As long as one understands.
-So, how is your family? What should I expect.
Olivia-Well, you're new without much warning so maybe you might be, frightened? You'll find them good company and we're here.
She pulls me to see ahead and I see a semicircle of luxurious houses. On the outside they're connected with bridges and big windows or big open balconies.
It looks like a complex of apartments or a big house. It draws me in.
Pyro POV: Age - 667
I am at home with my daughters checking up on everything. Someone has to make sure this house stays standing.
-Victoria, how's your room.
Victoria-Shipshape as always. Think of it as recently built.
-Anything you need yourself?
Victoria-Clothes. Suits, both pants and skirts. Gala dresses and casual dresses as well as casual clothing.
-Got it. Phoenix. Anything for your share?
Phoenix-I am fine.
She makes a small dancing motion and I'm stunned.
-Yeah, don't do that again. Is weird.
She does it again but this time she kisses my cheek before I leave for the next part of the house.
-Stephanie, Tiffany. Anything you girls need?
They share a look before they look at me.
Stephanie-We want to change our colors.
Tiffany-We're going to keep using gold and silver but just for special occassions.
Stephanie-We have to search for our new colors.
-Duly noted. I'll look into that for you both.
They hug me tightly from both sides before they leave to continue on their stuff and so I keep going until I get to the youngest daughter, Olivia. I look around and I realize that Olivia's not here. I sigh and I check her room myself. Is been a while since I've been here but it feels like yesterday. She's still a little girl to me and on her heart she still is as well. Her room is still good, full of books, organized, clean and well kept. I get out and passing by the hall I look out to the entrance. Glad when I see her coming but slightly annoyed when I see a guy with her.
Winter-Dad!!!
-Huh?
Winter-What are you thinking of? You are out of your head.
-Is nothing. What did you wanted?
Winter-Not much, just some insight on a dress.
I sigh following her into her room to see what she needs. Her room is quite balanced, light and shadow, messy and organized and so on. Comfy.
Winter-Wich one should I start with? I can't tell if royal blue or navy blue.
I take a deep look at both colors before I sigh standing back.
-Royal.
Her reaction is immediate and I'm thrown off backwards as she jumps to me in a hug joyfully.
Winter-Thank you. I love you so much. I will start on it right away.
-Now? Won't you start after dinner?
Winter-Do call me when dinner is ready.
-Winter.
I speak but she's already deeply focused on her work. I sigh and leave downstairs to start cooking dinner and just like that I put music on the speakers, happy when the house gets filled with noise from all my daughters joining in the dancing or any sort of rhythm they can make. With that joy I start cooking and quite soon she comes around.
Olivia-I'm home.
Turning the kitchen in low fire I go greet her.
-Olivia. Now everyone is here at home.
Olivia-Hey dad. So, can my friend stay here, overnight? For a few days.
I look at him and he seems off and nervous.
-He as in him? This guy right here.
Olivia-Come on dad. He is nice and fun, easy to talk to.
-And he's sleeping with me.
She laughs joyfully as she hugs me.
Olivia-Thank you dad. I'm going to change and I'll be right back down.
-Go ahead.
She disappears and I turn to him.
-Come with me. You can help cook if you can. Name?
?-Junior.
-Keep speaking. Tell me about you, your family and all that stuff. General introduction about yourself.
PJunior-Is it that to know who stays at your place?
-Yes amongst other things. Do start.
He takes a deep breath and so he starts telling me about himself and surprisingly, I find myself liking the guy quite more than I thought. In just the course of dinner it feels like he's part of the family already. He gets along with me and all my daughters. Is good to feel like that and the next days can be fun.
To be continued...................
