#13. Moments
Viren and Naina share a moment and their fears. Naina is in awe to learn that her husband, who always shows himself strong - - is weak when things concern his daughter and his wife. Though, she knows that everyone is weak, when it comes to the ones whom you love. For example,Naina is very caring and protective towards her daughter, little Raina. Even her sister was like this, she remembers.
"Tumhe pata hai Viren, Di mujhe kehti thi ki jab meri shadi hogi aur jab mere bache honge tab mujhe unki fikar samajh aayegi. Aur wo sahi thi, Viren. Mujhe hamari Raina mein Di ka aks dikhta hai, aur jab kabhi wo mujhe apne saamne nahi dikhti, toh main darr jati hoon. Bilkul Di ki tarah. " Naina says, her eyes turning watery.
"Tum ab sirf Di ki choti si Naina nahi ho na! Aur tum unke jaisi toh pehle se thi, bas ab wo jo chulbuli Naina thi na, wo kahin chhup gayi, ya main ye kahun ki role reversal hogaya." Viren says, trying to lighten his wife's mood.
"Han han! Role reversal tumhara bhi hogaya, you are such a possessive father." Naina says teasingly.
"Ofcourse I am, afterall, Raina is my one and only daughter. You shouldn't be jealous! I love her more." Viren glares at Naina playfully.
"Haww! Am not jealous! Main toh meri beti ke sath enjoy karne wali hoon, you're the one who's going to be jealous!" Naina clicks her tongue at her husband.
"Raina ka samajh mein aata hai, uske toh maze hi hain, chahe tumhare sath ho ya mere. Par tum mere bina maze kaise kar sakti ho!! That's wrong, very wrong. " Viren makes a face.
"Maine thodi kaha tumhe jaane ko. Tum hi fun miss karoge aur usse zyada mujhe aur Raina ko!" Naina says teasingly.
Viren make a face at which Naina laughs, but ends up hugging him. These two are quite fearful. But Naina convinces Viren and he is all set to go.
" Viren! Tum fikar mat karo. Jeeju hai na! Unke rehte kuch nahi hoga aur waise bhi Raina ki bhi holidays hai , it won't be a burden. Tumhe pata hai na Raina office jaake bhi khush rehti hai. Aur main aur jeeju toh rahenge hi." Naina says.
"I know. Isliye toh tension kam hai. Ab toh bas ye kaam jaldi hi khatm karna hai." Viren says.
Naina nods her head positively and they share a hug when little Raina enters the room and this little family clicks some pictures. Raina chuckles when her father clicked some pictures and in the meantime, a phone ring disturbs them. It's Naina's phone. She picks up the call as it's of some client. Viren signals her to join them in the hall while he follows his daughter out of the room.
Vineet is sitting on the couch and Raina jumps beside him. He looks at her and makes a face.
"Kahan chali gayi thi, Raina?" He questions the little girl.
"Aap phone pe baat kar rahe they toh Raina bore ho gayi thi! Lekin mumma bhi phone pe baat kar rahi hai. Thish ish bad! Kya karun main!? " Little Raina hits her own forehead causing the two men to laugh.
She shoots a glare at both of them, especially Viren.
"Don't laugh, Papa. Aap bhi aisa hi karte ho." little Raina glances at her father.
"Maine kya kiya!! Kuch nahi kiya maine. Tumhari mumma hi busy rehti hai!" Viren shrugs his shoulders.
"Noo! Aap bhi busy hote ho! Aur fir jab aap mere sath hote ho toh na aapka phone pareshan karta hai!" Raina glares at Viren.
Viren tries to convince his little girl, while Vineet who's watching the two people, trails back into the past.
*Flashback Begins*
It's a fine day - - Saturday. He's invited to the sisters' home for dinner. Naina is away on a college trip, so Raina calls him home for dinner and a beach outing as he promised her some other day.
When he reaches home, Raina has finished talking to her sister and tells him that she's fine and happy on her trip. Vineet is glad to know it and then he demands for a coffee. But Raina disagrees.
"Coffee ko kyun mana kar rahi ho?? Ye toh galat hai!" Vineet makes a sad face.
"Time toh dekho Vineet. Pehle hum khana khayenge fir hum beach pe jayenge. Uske baad coffee!" Raina says.
"Ye toh galat baat hai." Vineet makes a face and Raina laughs at him.
She pulls him by his hand and takes him to the dining table and makes him sit. She arranges the dining table with his favorite food. He chuckles and they have their dinner with light chit chats. An hour later, after winding up the work she looks at Vineet as they planned to go to the beach. He's been doing something on his phone, she whines and pulls his hand.
"Vineet kya hai?? Chalo na! Phone baad mein dekhna." Raina whines at Vineet.
"Bas 2 minute aur." he says.
Raina sighs but glares at him. Two minutes later, they set to leave when his phone rings. Raina sighs. She wants to spend time with Vineet but his phone is the cause of disturbance. He talks over the call and once he disconnects the call, she snatches his phone, and keeps it on the centre table along with her phone. He eyes her.
"What's that?" he eyes her.
"Mujhe tumhara time chahiye. Aur yahan tumhara phone meri sautan bana hua hain. You know it, I don't need any disturbance when we are together. Ab chalo!" she says angrily while he laughs at her.
She glares at him while he looks at her innocently. She slaps his arm playfully.
"Tum zyada innocent na bano. Tumhe pata hai ki jab hum saath hote hai, mujhe koi disturbance pasand nahi." Raina says making a face.
"Acha sorry! Par iska ek solution hai mere pas." He says as they settle in his car and they drive to the juhu beach.
"Wo solution abhi possible nahi hai." Raina breaks her silence.
Vineet sighs. He knows the meaning behind her words, but he is eventually ready to agree to her terms. He know he would have done the same if he had a younger sibling. They reached the beach in silence and he holds her hand, making their way towards the sea shore.
The sound of the water is soothing and the dim yellow and white lights are making the environment beautiful. The cool winds and the smell of wet mud tingle their smell buds. As they look at the vast ocean, Raina holds his hand.
"I am sorry, Vineet. I am making you wait, par jab tak meri zimmedari puri nahi ho jaati, I can't think about myself." Raina says.
"I know! Maine toh kuch nahi kaha. I can wait for you." he says as he slips his hand around her waist.
She turns towards him and kisses his cheek.
"That's why I love you. Tum sath hote ho na, toh sab aasan lagta hai." she says.
"I am always there. And remember it, I can wait for you, forever." he says.
She looks at him and then ends up hugging him.
*Flashback Ends*
"Tumne toh mujhe zindagi bhar ka intezar dediya!" Vineet murmurs, his eyes stuck on Raina's picture on the side table.
His trance is broken by a babyish voice.
"Koi nahi sunta Raina ki baat!" the little girl makes a face.
"Arey arey! Kya hua? Kisne kya nahi suna!" Vineet asks.
"Sab phone pe busy hai, aur aap bhi. Kitni derr se Raina aapko bula rahi hain, aap sunte hi nahi." little Raina looks at him angrily.
"Acha Acha! Kya karna hain Raina ko?" he asks, looking at the little girl.
"Raina ko khelna hain!! Aur beach pe bhi jana hai. " she says innocently.
Vineet smiles - he's certainly sure, this little girl is replica of his love. She gets cranky and angry when her parents get busy with the phone, just like his Raina used to do with him. He lifts the little girl in his arms and at the same time, Naina comes out of the room. She looks at Viren and Raina.
"kahan chale ap dono?" she asks.
"Main aapse gussa hoon." Raina says, looking at her mom.
"Kyun?? Maine kya kia baby?" Naina looks at her.
"Aapne Raina ko akele chod diya!" The little girl says.
"because of the phone." Vineet smiles.
"Han phone pe hi baat karti rehti ho! Dekho daddy bhi!" Raina points at Viren, who's talking on the phone.
"Zaroori kaam hoga na baby!!" Naina says, trying to pat the girls' cheeks.
"Noo! Raina ko baat nahi karni, badepapa Chalo, Raina ko beach pe jana hai." She looks at Vineet.
Vineet smiles, he agrees to the little girl. Well, he never disagreed to the girl's aunt, then how can he disagree to her. After all, she is a little replica of the love of his life. He looks at Naina, who's looking at them, he whispers something to her which leaves her astonished.
To Be Continued.
