#8. Shared Smiles

Nitya is sitting at her desk, lost in thought, contemplating the new case assigned to her. She's pondering over Shailesh's words.

She understands his concerns and is willing to delve deep into the situation. Her thoughts also drift to Kabir, the senior journalist. It's been ten months since she joined the Nexus Media Agency, but she hasn't seen or met him even once. This is the first time Shailesh has mentioned him in their conversation, and the mere thought of meeting him excites her.

She will meet him for the first time in a business meeting. She has heard that he's very particular about work and dislikes it when people neglect their duties or make mistakes in their assignments. Nitya sees this as an advantage, as she also believes that work must be perfect and a priority for everyone. She's quite excited to start working on this case and anticipates that her meeting with Kabir will be memorable.

Her reverie is broken when her phone beeps; there's a message from Ishika asking about her well-being. As she reads the message, she realizes that she couldn't meet Ishika because of an early morning meeting. Nitya smiles; meeting in the morning isn't mandatory for either of them, but since they live in adjacent societies, they often make impromptu plans. Moreover, when Ishika's mother is out of town, the two surely meet, hosting each other for breakfast or lunch. Today, Ishika has invited her for dinner, and Nitya wants to meet her. She responds to the message with a couple of smiley emojis, assuring her friend of her arrival.

As Nitya thinks about her friend, a sweet smile appears on her lips. Despite being alone in the wide world, she still has two people she calls family, and she's content with that. The Almighty has been kind to her, giving her a sister in Ishika and a caring mentor in Shailesh.

Indeed, it's unpredictable, but life is good.

Hotel Taj

Ruhana enters the hotel and asks the manager about the clients she is supposed to meet. The hotel manager welcomes her and shows her the way to the conference room. On her way to the room, she hears a few giggles. Following the voices, she discovers that the hotel has a small area for children. At the moment, a few kids are playing on the games fixed in the specified area. She walks towards the play area and gets a clear view of a young man playing with the children. He is holding a little boy in his arms, swaying him up and down.

He looks like a businessman; perhaps he is here for a meeting as well.

The kids surround him, waiting for their turn, and he is attending to them all. Ruhana is lost in the moment, her gaze fixed on the man. Unknowingly, her lips curve into a smile as she watches him play with the children. If it had been someone else, they might have been irked and left the place, but this man is patient and plays along with the children. Meanwhile, her phone rings, bringing her out of her trance. It's a call from the client, and she heads into the conference room. After all, she has a meeting to attend. She takes her seat in the conference room and looks around. The staff assures her that her clients will be there soon. She takes a deep sigh and tries to remember the discussion she had with Sachin last night. This deal is important for their company, and she needs to secure it, by hook or by crook. Meanwhile, someone greets her warmly, prompting her to look at them and reciprocate the greeting.

"You're from the Singhaniya group?" the man asks.

"Hi, I am Ruhana Singhania," she replies warmly, smiling at him.

"Please wait, Sir will join you in a minute," he informs her and then takes his leave.

Ruhana nods and prepares herself for the meeting. Earlier, Sachin was supposed to take this meeting, but due to some preplanned commitments, he briefed Ruhana about the deal and asked her to attend the meeting. Meanwhile, a masculine voice catches her attention, and as she looks up, she is delighted to see that the person she saw in the play area is now standing in front of her. She greets him warmly, and he reciprocates her greeting.

"Hi! I'm Vineet Raichand. You're representing the Singhaniya group?" he asks.

"Yes, my brother was supposed to handle this, but he sent me because he had some prior commitments. I'm Ruhana," she introduces herself and explains her presence.

Vineet smiles at her, and they start discussing the agenda. Ruhana puts her points forward, and Vineet seems to be impressed by her work.

"Ruhana! If we do it this way, this is going to be a great project," Vineet smiles.

"I agree! And when we are talking about business, our focus should be on the profits," Ruhana smiles.

"So, let's finalize the deal?" he asks while looking at her.

"Yeah! But can we sign the deal at my office? I'd like it to be signed in the presence of my dad. I am leading it, but I want it to happen in front of him," Ruhana makes a point, and Vineet agrees.

Vineet smiles, understanding why she's saying so. Her parents mean a lot to her in the same way Sanjeev means to him. He explains that he'll also need time, so they decide to meet the next day at the Singhaniya office to sign the deal. They shake hands, sealing the deal verbally. Ruhana looks at him. She's quite fascinated by his sweet smile. Maybe he's just like that. And nothing is more charming than a guy who keeps smiling. She then takes her leave but stops at his voice.

"I know, it's weird. But would you like a coffee? I mean, after the deal, we'll be colleagues, so usse pehle ek coffee ho jaye? I mean, dosti ki shuruaat!" he asks, looking at her.

Ruhana smiles lightly. A little coffee won't harm! She agrees to his offer. He leads her to the café in the hotel when her phone rings. It's Sachin, who informs her that he's done with his meeting and is coming to pick her up, but she declines and tells him that she'll reach the office by herself. Her gesture surprises Vineet.

"Why didn't you call him?" he asks, curious for company.

"Don't take me wrong. Wo kya hai na, he's very particular about work. And he won't mind if I have some coffee with his friend," she chuckles.

Vineet smiles and orders two cappuccinos for them. They start talking about their interests and family. She watches him speak about his interests and family, stealing glances and smiling.

"Waise, mujhe laga tha ki aap workaholic aur arrogant businessman honge. Ab aap CEO hai toh mujhe aisa laga. But you're completely different," she says, completely impressed by him.

"Not everyone is the same," he says, laughing.

"True that! I saw you playing with the kids as well. I am touched to see that side of you," she says admiringly.

"A kid was trying to climb on the game, so I started playing with him," he says.

Ruhana smiles. She has developed an admiration for this guy. Soon, after finishing their drinks, they leave the hotel. He offers to drop her off, and she obliges.

Bloom Healthcare Private Limited

Mahesh enters the office and his staff greets him, he responds to them smilingly. He enters his cabin and at the same time, his phone rings. It's the same client who called in the morning. They require some medical equipment and he needs to meet the clients to ensure that they're making the right demand. He asks the client's manager to arrange a meeting, even if it is in an hour.
Meanwhile, Ashwin enters the cabin and Mahesh is surprised to find him in the office.

"Tujhe toh ek urgent surgery ke liye jaana tha na, Ashwin? Office kaise aa gaya?" Mahesh asks, he's concerned for his younger brother.

"Haan, bhai. Sab thik hain. Surgery is in next two hours. Par yahan main aapko kuch zaroori baat batane aaya hoon." Ashwin says, his voice alarms urgency and Mahesh looks at his brother.

Ashwin tells him further that there's a hospital that is involved in illegal organ transplants and that they do not need to associate with them. Mahesh is shocked at the moment. He couldn't think that this could also happen. The doctors and hospitals that are known for healing, can destroy someone's life.

"Bhai, aapko agar Healing Grove hospital se koi bhi call aaye toh unke deals ya unke quotations mein interest mat dikhana. Aaj kuch log baat kar rahe they. Aap toh dinbhar calls mein rehte ho, isliye maine socha aapko bata dun." Ashwin says, his tone concerned.

"Achcha, main dhyan rakhunga. Lekin Healing Grove is one of the best hospitals!" Mahesh looks at his brother.

"Bhai, bahut achcha tha, lekin jaane ab kaunsa doctor aagaya ya kisne galti ki, we don't know." Ashwin says.

Mahesh nods, meanwhile, Ashwin checks the time, and it's time for him to leave. He assures his brother to meet at home and takes his leave. Mahesh watches him go and as his phone rings, he buzzes out of his trance. He picks up the call and hears a masculine voice from

the other side. The other person isn't a medico, but he wants to invest in the healthcare services. It's Sachin who has called Mahesh, he's heard that they also have a blood bank under the name of their business and he wishes to associate with them. Mahesh is mighty pleased.

"Ye toh bahut achchi baat hai, Sir, aap bataiye kab milna chahenge aap?" Mahesh asks.

"Thik hai, aap kal aa jaiye. Thanks, Mr Singhania." Mahesh says and disconnects the call.

"Singhania??" Mamta gasps, who enters her son's cabin. She is astonished hearing the name. Mahesh glances at her.

Upon asking, Mamta doesn't reply, but it's sure that a storm of memories is rushing in her heart and mind. Mahesh further tells her that the Singhanias are interested in helping them extend medical services to the poor people. Mamta appreciates the initiative. After handing over the lunchbox to her son, she leaves the office, but she's thoughtful of the name she just heard.

GlamTech Ventures

Ishika is in her joint cabin with Samrat. They co-own this business, and he created one joint cabin with two entrances. Samrat is talking on the phone while Ishika is scrolling through her phone, reading Nitya's message, and her lips curve into a smile. She is assured that she'll have a peaceful night in her friend's presence.

For Ishika, Nitya's presence has been soothing and comforting. As she always feels that something is amiss in her life, Nitya fills it to some extent; this is the reason these two are often together. Moreover, for Nitya, Ishika is her only family. They have their own set of friends and colleagues, yet they find solace in each other.

Ishika is lost in thought, pondering her precious people: her mom, Nitya, and, not to forget, Samrat. The Shekhawat siblings are an important part of her life, and yes, she owes her life to these first three individuals in her life. Samrat doesn't fail to notice her smiling, so he snaps his fingers in front of her.

"Hello! Where on earth are you?" he asks, causing her to snap out of her thoughts.

"Nothing, I was just thinking about something," she responds with a smile.

"Yeah, I can see! Tum yahan baith ke bhi apni dost ko hi message karogi! Tumhare saamne itna handsome banda hai, lekin uski koi value nahi hai tumhe." He complains, pretending to be angry at her.

"Aww, aisa nahi hai, Sammie! Tumhe tumhari value pata nahi hai, vo main janti hoon. Dobara aise mat kehna!" Ishika says, peering into his eyes.

"We'll see that, madam! By the way, what is Nitya saying?" he asks.

"Nothing much, Sam! Actually, it's our daily routine to meet once we leave for our jobs. Aur Nitya pichhle 2 hafte se kisi project mein busy thi. Aur aaj main jaldi aa gai, isliye maine usey kaha ki wo raat ko mujhe miley." Ishika says, there's a constant smile on her face as she talks about her best friend.

"Great! Kabhi mujhe bhi bulana!" he says playfully, causing her to giggle.

"Sochungi, Sammie! For now, we must leave, we have a meeting with Mriganka, the CEO of Luxe Legacy," she reminds him.

"Ah! I almost forgot about it, Ishu! What'd I do without you, huh!?" he asks, gazing at the girl before him.

"Ye toh ek secret hai, Sammie! Mere bina tumhara kuch bhi nahi ho sakta." she says, a mischievous glint in her eyes, which doesn't go unnoticed by Samrat.

He's merely pleased to know that his lady is happy. She has always made him happy, be it with her words, her work, or the occasional tantrums she throws when she wants to be pampered by him. Meanwhile, he comes out of his trance when Ishika calls him again. Holding hands, the two walk out of their cabin, on their way to grab another deal that's beneficial for their business.

Well, a messy day has just started.
