Changes
This chapter isn't to great because I wrote it in bits and pieces over the weekend. You have been warned....
------------------
Solar sighed and curled up on his berth. Why was Red Alert calling him a decepticon? Sure he had the insignia, but that was because it hadn't been changed yet. He wasn't really a decepticon...
He groaned when the throbbing pain in his back got worse and his helm started to hurt. "Why does my back hurt so much?" He shifted into a more comfortable position.
He glanced at the door when he heard someone knock. "Come in..."
The door opened and optimus walked in, "I was told about what happened." He sat down beside him.
Solar frowned, "why won't he believe I'm not a decepticon?" He looked as though he was about to cry.
Optimus sighed, "Red Alert is.....paranoid. if he hadn't known us for so long he would have thought we were all decepticon spies I'm sure. He might anyway. But you having the symbol the first time he saw you, along with that being the first time he saw you, was a perfect invitation for his suspicions..."
"But it's not fair! He's not even giving me a chance..." He winced again.
"I know," Optimus noticed his wince. "Are you feeling okay?"
Solar smiled at him weakly, "depends on you definition of okay..."
"what's wrong?"
Solar winced again and tried to curl up more, "my back has been hurting all day and I don't know why. Does that count?"
"Yes that counts." He rested a servo on Solar's forehelm. "Your overheating..."
Solar groaned, "is that why my helm hurts...?"
"Most likely," Optimus frowned, worried a bit, "why don't we go see Ratchet?"
Solar sat up slowly and held back a groan. Optimus frowned, "you probably shouldn't walk there..."
"Well how else am I supposed to get there? Whoa!"
Optimus chuckled a bit at Solar's surprised yelp when he picked him up.
"Hey! What are you doing?!"
"Taking you to Ratchet." He replied evenly.
"I can walk."
"Your back is hurting. Correct?"
"....yes.."
"If you walk it might cause further damage. I would prefer you didn't do anything that might cause more harm until we know what's wrong."
Solar crossed his arms and huffed but didn't argue.
They traveled in silence for a bit before Optimus started humming.
Solar looked up at him and watched quietly in curiosity for a minute, "what are you humming?"
Optimus glanced at him and smiled softly, "it's an old Cybertronion tune."
"Does it have words?"
"I'm sure it did at some point, but I don't know them if there is...."
"Oh..." Solar replied softly. He yawned and Optimus smiled before he returned to humming.
Solar listened quietly and rested his helm against Optimus chest, breathing softly, "don't tell anyone about this. Okay?"
Optimus chuckled, "alright, Solar"
Time skip, brought to you by....
XDDD
Optimus entered the med bay quietly and walked over to Ratchet, "I am in need of your assistance, old friend."
Ratchet frowned when he saw Solar asleep in Optimus' arms and pointed to the berth, "what's wrong?"
Optimus laid Solar down so he was on his front and turned to Ratchet, "he said his back and helm were hurting. I believe he is overheating."
The doctor nodded and grabbed a scanner, "did he tell you anything else?"
"No"
Ratchet scanned the youngling, "your right, he is overheating. But that's simply because something is overwhelming his systems. If I can find out what it is and take care of that he'll be fine."
Optimus nodded, "would why his back is hurting have anything to do with it?"
"Probably" the medic ran his servo across Solar's back, felling for anything wrong or out of place. He stoped when he came to the upper back. (About where the shoulder blades are. Telly....😉)
he felt around there for a moment, "it looks like theirs another panel that shouldn't be there and it's somehow hooked up to his nerve system. I can remove it but he'll need to be under heavy medication."
Optimus nodded, "very well, is that what is causing him pain?"
"I think it's hiding what is..."
Time skip, because I really don't want to have to type out a surgery...and it's brought to you by...
This!
Solar groaned and onlined his optics. He took a moment to gather his senses. He was laying on his front and his back wasn't hurting anymore. That was good, right?
He pushed himself up and tried to sit up but something was throwing off his balance and caused him to fall over and land on his side. "Oof!"
He felt someone grab him and help him to sit up, without falling over this time.
"How do you feel?"
Solar looked up at the one who had spoken and smiled slightly, "I feel better, Ratchet. Except for my balance seems to be off..."
"There would be a reason for that." Solar looked beside him to see Optimus set down a data pad and smile at him. "The reason would be why you were in pain in the first place." He gestured to behind Solar.
Solar turned and looked behind him but didn't see anything. He looked back at Optimus in confusion, "what are you talking about?"
Optimus seemed distracted and Solar turned to look behind him again but still saw nothing. He glanced at Optimus. "What are you looking at?"
Optimus seemed to be brought back to reality and smiled at him, "it's nothing bad I assure you, surprising perhaps, but not bad."
Solar tilted his helm in confusion and froze when he saw something twitch behind him out of the corner of his optic. This time he just turned his helm to look.
He gasped when something broad and metal was sticking up behind his back, "what is that?!"
Optimus sat down next to him, "that would be a wing."
One minute of silence.
Two minutes.
Three.
Five minutes of silence took over the room until Solar gathered the courage to speak, "you're joking, right?"
"Not at all," he reached out and brushed his servo over the edge of the metal surface. Solar tensed as a ticklish sensation attacked him. He struggled to hold back the laugh that wanted to escape, "stop, please...."
Optimus smiled, "is something wrong?"
"N-no..."
"Alright then..." He continued to stroke the youngling's new wings. Solar couldn't help but giggle and try to squirm away.
Optimus chuckled and pulled him back, "come here you..." He used both his servos to scribble the wings a little harder.
Solar's giggling turned into full blown laughter and he squirmed in Optimus' grip, "s-stop! Dad! C-cut it out!"
Optimus grinned and continued, "did you say something, little one?"
"D-dad! Stop! Or I'll t-tell Mom!" He managed to say through his laughter.
"Tell her that you're sensitive?" He started tickled the base of the wings, causing Solar to squeak in surprise "She'll take advantage of it just as much as me."
"P-please Stop!"
Optimus continued for a minute before pulling his servos away. "Now do you believe me?"
"Y-yes" Solar giggled, he was still recovering from his laughter.
"Good" Optimus stood up and held out his servo, "let's see if we can get you balanced."
Solar grabbed his servo to pulled himself up and almost immediately fell backwards. Optimus caught him and helped him to stand, "careful"
Solar nodded and tried to take a step towards the door only to trip and fall forwards. Optimus caught him again, "how about I guide you around?"
"Alright"
After a few minutes Solar had the balance pretty well down and Ratchet had finished whatever he was doing on the computer. The medic walked over to them and led Solar to the berth, "apparently your wings are retractable.
"What?"
"They fold up and go into your back and you can bring them out or put them away on demand."
"Oh......how do I do that?"
"Same thing as transforming or your holoform."
"Okay...." slowly the wings folded in on themselves and shrunk down enough so they just looked like part of his back paneling.
"Does this mean I can still use my alt?"
"I think so, but I believe you could have a flying one to...."
Solar's optics widened and he looked up at Optimus.
The prime smiled, "I'll talk with agent Fowler. He needs to come and meet everyone else anyway."
