Two years have passed since the events of the Temen Ni Gru incident. Dante has grown into a serious and funny young man of 21. His shop, Devil May Cry hasn't really hit off as well as he thought and his debt is continuously racking up. One night he was approached by a woman named Trish who resembled his mother Eva and told him that Mundus was returning for revenge. He calls up you to help him and you accept the mission. You all fly to Malete(I have no idea) island and search through a castle for Mundus. Fighting demons, acquiring Devil Arms, and learning of the haunting secrets in the castle. During your mission you run into a large black knight who you came to know as Nelo Angelo. He was a loyal dark knight of Mundus who served him loyally. He lost his first and second battles to Dante but at his second battle which seemed to almost be a victory, he gazed upon Dante's amulet and he shouted in pain and horror and disappeared. You and Dante have a faint feeling that foul play was at hand and continued your treck to defeat Mundus. Nearly a day passes and you enter a room with Dante where Nelo Angelo appears and during the battle, he reveals himself to be Dominic, corrupted by Mundus into this twisted image of his father Sparda. His memories slowly came back to him but he still fought you and Dante until he was defeated by Dante driving his sword through his brother's chest but it seemed too easy. Dominic was far more powerful as Nelo Angelo and he could have easily dodged the attack. Now he was on the floor bleeding from his battle wounds with Dante's blade in his chest

Dante: Brother! Tell me, why didn't you dodge?!

Nelo Angelo: Because...I once made an oath..to protect my family..even at the cost of my own life..I did all those horrible things years ago..for you my brother. I wanted to protect you from our father's faults. I sacrificed myself to Mundus as a distraction so you could get stronger...

Dante: You...planned this?

Nelo Angelo:*grunts* None of that matters now!

Nelo Angelo gets up and takes his amulet off and holds his out, covered in his blood

Nelo Angelo: You must take my amulet! Use it to defeat Mundus!

Dante: No brother! We can do this together!

Nelo Angelo:*smiles* I'm afraid my time is coming to an end...please brother, do it for me. And remember that...I love you with all my heart...

The room turns into a dark void and three red orbs form. Mundus had appeared

Mundus: You have failed me for the last time Nelo Angelo! Now I will kill you all in your weakened state.

Nelo Angelo: I...won't let you!!

Nelo Angelo grabs the sword and tears it out of his chest, blood splashed from his wound and he threw the sword onto the ground. His body emitted a dark blue aura as he gazed at his mortal enemy once more

Nelo Angelo: It's time to finish this once and for all!!

Dante: NO DOMINIC DON'T!!!

Nelo Angelo: YOU'RE ALL MINE MUNDUS!!!

Nelo used all of his power into two giant blasts aimed at Mundus but at the same time, Mundus struck the fallen Sparda with lightning that shattered his armor. Though the blasts did hit, they did almost nothing to the dark god and Nelo Angelo was blown back into a pillar. Burned and nearly dead, the fallen Sparda had become free of the curse put on him by Mundus. The dark god released the illusion and left the devil hunters and the freed older twin of Sparda.
