After defeating Vergil, the twins stood above their past as he knelt down in defeat

Vergil: You...have finally...done it. You have done...what Dante could never do. You've beaten me.

Dante: Well now that we won, can you stop this tree from destroying everything?

Vergil: No. The Qliphoth mixed with the God Tree will suck this world dry of everything. Cutting it's roots is the only way to kill it.

Dominic: Where can we cut the roots Vergil? Tell us.

Vergil: In the underworld. Dante and I have done this before. But in our current states, we will not survive the journey. We...are but shells of what we once were

Dante: Damn! I've got some fight in me but I don't think it'll be enough for a trip into the frying pan and doing some gardening.*sigh* This is hopeless.

Dante walks around trying to think of a solution whereas the older counterpart, whom had been recently been revived by use of the Edo Tensei technique, looked at Dante's back at the Rebellion that sat there.

Edo Dante: Never fear brother for I have found a solution!

Vergil: Ugh, what are you prattling on about?

Dominic: Yes, do tell us of your revelation Dante.

Edo Dante: Well..it starts with you standing right there.

He points to his younger self and has him stand in a specific spot on the ground and he stands back to back with him, drawing his sword Devil Sword Dante and smirking

Dante: So what now? We do a little docey doe? We gonna dance?

Edo Dante: Nope. See ya kid.

Throwing his sword behind him, he locks arms with Dante confusing him. The sword stops in the air and points itself at the two Dante's and flies at them at breakneck speeds and stabs through both of them

Dante: UAGH!!

The elder Dante winks to Vergil as he disappeared into red energy and flowed into the Rebellion. It's eyes begin to glow brighter as the blade emenates a scarlet red glow. Dante keels over grunting as his body starts glowing. Dust kicks up around him and the air starts moving faster and faster

Dominic: Hm. I understand what I must do.

Looking down at Vergil, Dominic grabs him and stands him up. The two look each other in the eyes, one filled with determination, the other filled with exhaustion and regret

Vergil: Do it.

Dominic: I'm reluctant seeing as the Yamato separated you into two beings.

Vergil: Yes. And with it's power I became one. We can become one without separation.

Dominic: Hm. This better work.

Standing back to back, Dominic holds Yamato's sheathe close to him as he looks at his reflection in the blade.

Dominic:*sigh* May you finally rest in peace..

He plunges the sword into his chest and through Vergil. Blood fills his mouth as Vergil turns into blue energy and is absorbed into Yamato

Dominic:*grunt* Heavy...chains...that does freeze.. my bones...around!

Falling to his knees, the eldest son of Sparda feels a new power flowing through his body. The twins shout as the energy surrounding them glows brighter and brighter until in a pain filled cry, they explode. The entire top of the Qliphoth tree explodes

The fighting below stops at the sound of the explosion ringing out. Many begin to notice two objects shooting out and down into the battlefield that crash with an impact that shook the ground

Both impact craters had the bodies of the twins laying in them. Seemingly dead, an imp walks up to Dante's body. Kneeling down, it stretches it's arm out to his body when it suddenly catches fire. It howls in pain as the fire spread from Dante's body. The air became hotter as the ground begun melting under the army of Darkness's feet.

Dante them stands up and looks at his hands. He feels a new power flowing through him. Red hot. Fire. The demonic powers of his past self flowed through him and he felt as if he was back on the Temen Ni Gru where his powers were first awakened. And just like back then, he roars as his new power explodes out of him in a bright orange glow along with a demonic roar as if a monster had been awoken.

The dark forces that surrounded Dante were taken aback by what stood before them.

Deception: Wh-what in the hell...is that?

Dante: *labored breathing*

The power. It felt good. Like a warm blanket on his body. And the looks of fear painted on all the faces that surrounded him added to this twisted pleasure he was feeling inside of himself.

He growls at the enemies in front of him before kneeling down and shooting off into the clouds. His roars echoes through the skies

Dominic slowly picked himself up from the ground, dust and ash surrounded him as he layed there on his knees with the Yamato still in his chest. His ears rung and he could barely see in front of him. The sound of his name being called started to come through to him as Jaden Yuki sprinted to him

Jaden: Hey!! Have you gone crazy!

Jaden slides down into the crater and grabs Dominic by the shoulders

Jaden: Hey! Hey man there's still a war going on here and you're trying to off yourself!

Seeing the Yamato, Jaden gets the idea to grab it. His hand travels down to the handle when he notices a small crack form behind Dominic.

Jaden: What--huh?

Yubel: Jaden look out!!

Heeding the words of his companion, Jaden jumps away from Dominic as reality begins to crack around him and only when Dominic cracks a smile does reality shatter into pieces. Shards fall as if an illusion had been broken

Jaden: Ugh! Yubel! What's going on!!

Yubel appears beside Jaden, shielding him from the cold wind flowing around them. A look of shock and fear was on her face as she looked into the darkness

Yubel: Vergil...

Jaden: What! But--but I saw Dom! If Vergil isn't defeated then-

Yubel: He's not Vergil! But he isn't your friend either.

A male figure started to come into the light as the shards of a broken reality disappear and standing in the crater was a new being. He turns around to look at Jaden

The Approaching Storm

Jaden: Hey! You're still..on our side..right?

Dominic says nothing to Jaden. He only looks around him as if lost.

Jaden: We're in the middle of a war here man. Honestly it's going fifty fifty for either side right now man and I'm so tired. Please just tell me is Vergil defeated?

Dominic: So this...is absolute power.

Jaden: Huh?

Dominic: Hm. It took me having everything to realize it was all for nothing. I still feel the same.

Jaden: That's what everyone has been telling you! Power isn't going to make everything go away, it's not gonna fill the hole in your chest. And I think you know what needs to be done.

Dominic: Yes...*blink* the roots...

A flying object catches his eye and immediately he knew what it was as the tone in his voice changed to one of pleasure and excitement

Dominic: Dante...

A torrent of blue energy bursts from him, throwing Jaden on his back. He shields his eyes from the dust being kicked up and though he could barely see, what he saw shocked him to his core

Dominic: This is POWER!

He rockets off into sky leaving Jaden there to his thoughts

Jaden:*panting* Let's hope it's enough...
