Part 22

Next morning
MaYa's room.

Piya was getting ready in an Anarkali gifted by Dadi. She was trying to tie the dori of it but was unsuccessful.

Piya: Yeh ameer logo ke kapde. Unhi ki tarah atrangi hain. (Clothes of rich people are as weird as them.)

Suddenly, a pair hands grabbed the doris and tied them while one the fingers where making patterns on her back which was possible due the low back design.

Piya: *hissed* Ma...Mahi...

Mahi hummed but then snaked his arms around her waist, leaves trail of kisses on her back and neck.

Piya: *moaned* Mahi...

He spins her pulls her closer holding her waist while her hands rested on his chest. They where looking into each other's eyes.

Piya: Kya kar rela hain? (What are you doing?)

Mahi: *nuzzles in her neck* Pyaar jata raha hoon. (Expressing my love.)

Piya moaned while he lest a trail of kisses on her face. He was about to capture her lips but, suddenly, pushed him away.

Mahi: *irritated* Kya re Piya? (What Piya?)

Piya: Nahi-nahi, shaadi ke pehle nahi. Aur abhi hume Bahot kaam hain. Tu shuru ho gaya to Shaam tak nahi rukega.
(No-no, not before marriage. And we have a lot of work to do. If you start getting romantic, you won't stop before evening.)

Mahi: Mood ka phaalooda kar diya.
(You spoilt the mood.)

He started to move out of the room but she tapped his shoulder.

Mahi: Kya?
(What?)

Muah 💋! Piya pecked his lips and ran out of the room while stood like a statue, touching his lips, which formed an ear to ear smile. He squealed to himself then went behind her.

Anika was in the kitchen, warming up some milk when Pinky comes there.

Pinky: *surprised* Anika!

Anika looked towards her and immediately hugged her.

Pinky: Oh My Mata! Tu kab aayi aur... *pulls away* Tu pragnents (pregnant) hain!
(Oh my God! When did you come and... You are pregnant!)

Anika smiled and nodded.

Pinky: *happily* Oh My Mata! Matlab Shivaay baap banne wala hain... *get emotional* Shivaay...
(Oh my God! That means Shivaay is going to become a father... Shivaay...)

Shivaay comes to the kitchen to check on Anika. He sees Pinky and she sees him.

Pinky: Shivaay!

She tightly hugs him while he was taken aback. He didn't reciprocate initially but, realising that Pinky tightened the hug, reciprocated.

Pinky: Kaisa hain tu? Aankhein taras gayi thi tujhe dekhne ke liye.
(How are you? Ice been yearning to see you.)

Shivaay: Main... theek hoon. Aa... aap kaisi hain?
(I...am fine. You... How are you?)

Pinky: *cups his face* Tujhe dekh liye na, toh achhi hongi. *breaking the hug* Aur tum dono ne bataya ho nahi ki tum dono kab aaye.
(I saw you, so I'll be fine. And you both tell me when you both come?)

Anika: Hum kal hi aaye they.
(We come just yesterday.)

Pinky: Tum dono kal se aaye ho aur mujhe "hellos" tak nahi bola!?
(You came yesterday and didn't even say hello to me!?)

Shivaay: Kal toh hum Dadi ko leke itne stressed they kuch aur soojha hi nahi.
(Yesterday we were so stressed out with Grandma's health that we couldn't think of anything else.)

Pinky: Haan, mummyjis ki healths ko le hum bhi bahot tenseds they likin ab woh betters hain.
(Yeah, all of us were tensed regarding mother-in-law's health but she is better now.)

Shivaay: Likin kal aap dikhi nahi. Kahaan thi mo...
(But I didn't see you yesterday. Where were you mo..)

He realised what was he going to say and suddenly stopped. Though his heart was dying to call her mom but his mind stopped him, giving the fact he was not her son. He clenched his fists.

Gauri: *calls from outside* Bade bhaiya, ee wale phool kahaan rakhne hain?
(Brother-in-law, where should these flowers be put?)

Shivaay: *replies* A... aaya. *to Pinky* Woh... Gauri bula rahi hain. Mujhe jaana chahiye.
(C...coming. Uh...Gauri is calling. I should go.)

He leaves from the kitchen. Pinky teared up while Anika felt sad. She extended her hand towards Pinky but accidentally touched the pan.

Anika: *pulling her hand back* AH!

Pinky: Oh my mata! Kya kar rahi hain!?
(Oh my God! What are you doing!?)

She quickly turned the gas off, took Anika's hand and held it under cold, running water. She turned the tap off and gently blow on her finger, which was just slightly red. She got the first aid box, took out the ointment for burns and applied it on her finger while Anika was surprised seeing her concern.

Pinky: *scolding her* Dhyaan rakha kar. Khud maa banne wali hain aur harkatein bacchon jaise karti hain. Mata Rani ka shukr hain ki zyaada nahi jala.
(Pay attention. You are about to become a mother yourself yet you behave childishly. Thank God the burn isn't too bad.)

Anika: Haan... woh... Pinky aunty...
(Yes...I...Mrs Pinky...)

Pinky: *keeping her hand on Anika's baby bump* Tujhmein apni aur is bacche ke saath Shivaay jaan basti hain. Apne dhyaan rakhna seekh le.
(You are carrying the life of yourself, this child and Shivaay in you. Learn to take care of yourself.)

Anika: J... jee.
(Ye...yes.)

Pinky: Aur... sorry.
(And...sorry.)

Anika: Sorry kisliye?
(Why sorry?)

Pinky: Maine jo tere saath kiya, woh maafi ke laayak toh nahi hain, *joins her hands* par ho sake toh...
(For what I did to you, it's not worth forgiving, but if possible...)

Anika: Nahi Pinky aunty! Mere saamne haath jod mujhe sharminda mat kijiye. Aapne jo bhi kiya, ek maa ki tarah soch ke kiya. Aur, mere liye, aap meri maa jaisi hain. Maa se sirf aashirvaad lete hain, maafi nahi.
(No Mrs Pinky! Don't embarrass me by folding hands in front of me. Whatever you did, you did thinking like a mother. And, for me, you are like me mother. You only seek blessings from mother, not forgiveness.)

Pinky: *cups her face* Mummyji sach kehti hain, tu Shivaay ke liye perfects hain.
(Mother-in-law is right, you are perfect for Shivaay.)

She hugs her again while Anika rested her head on Pinky's shoulder.

Mid morning
Hall

ShivMaYa and OF family were dressed in different shades of blue. Gauri brought Anika, who was wearing a baby blue lehenga, to the hall and made her sit on the sofa. Dadi comes to her and removes the bad from her.

Dadi: Haye! Kinni sohni lag rahi rahe. Kisi ki nazar na lage tumhe.
(Oh my! You look so beautiful. May no evil eye fall on you.)

She kisses her forehead. Men were standing on side as it was mainly a ladies function. As the function began, Dadi was the first one. She applied kumkum tika to Anika and filled her lap with fruits while rest of the ladies sang traditional Godh Bharai songs. She was followed by Jahnvi, Pinky, Gauri, Saumya and Piya. They gifted some kurtas and lightweight jewellery.

Dadi: Billu, tu apni biwi ke liye kya laya hain?
(Shivaay, what did you bring for your wife?)

Shivaay: *pretends to forget* Mujhe? Mujhe kya lana tha?
(Me? What was I supposed to bring?)

Dadi: Billu!

Anika: *annoyed* Chhodiye Dadi. Billuji ki yaaddaasht (memory) ghaas charne chali jaati hain.
(Leave him Grandma. Shivaay's memory has gone on a one-way vacation.)

Shivaay chuckles, goes to her and lightly pulls her cheeks.

Shivaay: *in kiddish tone* Alelele, meli Anika gussha ho gayi?
(Awie, my Anika is angly?)

All were surprised to see Shivaay like this, but had no complaints. Anika removed his hands and crossed hers. He knelt in front of her and held her hands.

Shivaay: Mazaak kar raha tha. Main tumhare liye gift le ke aaya hoon.
(I was joking. I did get a gift for you.)

Anika: Kya?
(What?)

Shivaay: Tumhe yaad hain, humne kuch mahine pehle Sahil ke liye ek physiotherapist dhoondha tha.
(You remember, few months back we found a physiotherapist for Sahil.)

Anika: *sadly* Likin woh sessions toh bahot mehenge they.
(But those session were very expensive.)

Shivaay: Mehenge they.
(They were expensive.)

Anika: Matlab!?
(What!?)

He hands her a file and she quickly reads through the pages.

Anika: *shocked* Aapne... therapy ke paise... de diye? Kab? Aur kaise?
(You...piad for...the therapy session? When? And how?)

Shivaay: Tumhe lagta hain sirf auratein secret savings kar sakti hain? Hum mard bhi kuch kam nahi hain.
(Do you think only women can practice secret savings? We men are no less.)

Anika kept the file aside and started weeping.

Anika: *while crying* Thank you Shivaay. Aapki ki wajah se mera Sahil apne pairon par khada ho sakega.
(Thank you Shivaay. Because of you, my Sahil would be able to stand on his feet.)

Shivaay: Ek minute, tum mujhe "thanks" bolkar paraya kar rahi ho. *dramatically* Haaye! Main toh barbaad ho gaya.
(Wait a minute, you are making a stranger by saying "thanks*. Oh my! I am devastated!)

All members chuckled at his behaviour while Anika lightly hit him. He sat beside her and side hugged her.

Dadi: Ab ek khel khelte hain.
(Now we'll play a game.)

Shakti: Kaunsa khel maa?
(What game mother?)

Dadi: Sab log jode banakar bacche ke liye naam sochenge aur batayenge. Auratein ladko ke liye aur mard ladkiyon ke liye. Tej-Jahnvi pehle tum dono.
(Everyone will pair up and think of a name and tell. Women for a boy and men for a girl. Tej-Jahnvi, you go first.)

Tej: Um... how about Aditi?

Jahnvi: And Aditya.

OmRuRiYa: Nahi!
(No!)

Om: Bahot common hain. Naam kuch unique hona chahiye. Jaise... Bhaagyashree.
(It's very common. The name should be something unique. Like...Bhaagyashree.)

Gauri: Ya Badrinath!
(Or Badrinath!)

Rudra: Kya baba aadam ke zamaane ke naam hain O. Kuch contemporary socho na. Jaise... Saffron.
(What ancient names are these O. Think of something contemporary. Like... Saffron.)

Saumya: And Sage? Sage is nice.

Pinky: Oh my mata! Bacche ka naam decides karna hain, cafes ka menus nahi. Shaktiji, aap achha sa naam suggests karo.
(Oh my God! We're deciding a name for the baby, not the menu of a cafe. Shakti, you suggest a nice name.)

Shakti: Um... Anjana.

Pinky: Mera favourites toh Ajeet hain.
(My favourite is Ajeet.)

Piya: Mujhe toh Jai pasand hain.
(I like Jai.)

Mahi: Mereko Radha.
(I like Radha.)

All started quarrelling about whose name was better.

Dadi: Arey, chup! Billu aur Anika faisla karne do.
(Keep quiet! Let Shivaay and Anika decide.)

All look towards them.

Anika: Sach batayein?
(Should we be honest?)

All: Haan, bilkul.
(Yes, definitely.)

ShivIka: Ek bhi nahi.
(None of them.)

Shivaay: Come on! Mere pehle baby ke liye itne boring names.
(Come on! These are such boring names for my first child.)

Youngsters pouted while the elders laughed it off.

Jahnvi: Shivaay, tum dono ne koi naam decide kiya hain?
(Shivaay, have you both decided a name?)

ShivIka look towards each other and say...
(

ShivIka: Haan.
(Yes.)

All: *excitedly* Kya!?
(What is it!?)

Shivaay: It's...

Anika: ... surprise!

All: *disappointed* Boo!

Anika: Arey, bas ek mahina aur. Phir aap sab ko pata chal jaayega.
(It's just a matter of one more month. Then you all will get to know.)

Gauri: Haaye, humse toh intejaar bhi nahi ho raha! Bas yeh ek mahina harharaayike kat jaaye.
(Oh my, I can't wait! I hope this one month passes by quickly.)

Rudra: Bhaiyas, bhabhis and bades, isse pehle hum promote ho, ek selfie toh banti hain.
(Brothers, sisters-in-law and elders, this calls for a selfie.)

Saumya: Haan. Yeh toh capture karna banta hain.
(Yes. This needs to keep captured.)

Rudra takes out his phone and clicks a picture, capturing everyone's smiling faces. For that moment, everyone forgot about the past and the future; they just enjoyed the present.

A/N: Sorry for the late update. We 10th boards so we're a little busy but will try to update as frequently as possible.

Also, tell us which of the above names would you keep for ShivIka's baby (boy and girl both).

Target: 12 detailed comments.
