I. ONE

No one reached their
hand out to save me
-Loid Forger
Here I am, sitting in a cold room with a small twin-size bed and a small three-year-old curled up into my side. You see when karma hits me, I'm never expecting it to go this badly...
I was sitting home all alone after school one day, curled up in my bed watching the latest episodes of spy family. I recently fallen in love with the rememberable family through all the clips on Tiktok. I snorted at all the antics, swearing I could do better than all of the characters combined. That I would be a better spy, and assassin and use my powers to be better used than Anya. I could do all of their jobs combined and save the world way faster.
That was just my ass talking.
Did I actually believe I could do any of this? NO!
I have no skills in anything--not even that. I'm a disappointment beyond disappointments.
So when I woke up to a needle being shot into my frail arms I almost fought the scientist right then and there. There were so many doctors and lights, needles all arranged on a tiny table next to us. Each tube filled with different liquids.
"Don't be scared, Y/N. You'll be returned to your dear sister in a second." 'Sister...? Oh no.' I bit my fingernail when I eventually realized the horrible truth.
Somehow I was transported into the world of spy family.
At first, I thought I'd taken the place of Anya, however, when I was returned to the depressing room a small girl latched onto me. The small three-year-old was wailing with snot down her face as she hugged the shit out of me... how could I have the heart to talk bad about her when she was this cute?
We looked enough alike with our eyes and noses, other than that we looked nothing alike..you had yourself a case of fraternal twins. I was a little disappointed as I kept my h/c hair and wasn't able to keep the shining bubblegum hair...lucky. We were built differently as well, I was a tad bit taller than her, which is why she always stood on her toes so she could shine over me. I hope I stayed taller then her—that'll be embarrassing.
The walls were blank, and cold and reminded me of how powerless I was.. how we were. In this world, Anya was older than me however I still kept all my subconscious memories and... well my conscious. So I decided to take initiative as the... older younger brother and break the both of us out of this nightmare.
It wasn't easy for me to take care of Anya, hell even takes care of myself. I've never been in a position where I had to fend for myself, yet here I was taking care of a three-year-old. I was careful to not give away our position while working on my new power.
Telekinesis.
The power to move, manipulate or otherwise interact with objects/matter without physical means. It is the sub-power of Telekinesis Manipulation. Not to be confused with Telepathy or Psychokinesis, I think my power is cooler than any tho.
After going back and forth between orphanages and lovey-dovey couples, we landed ourselves in front of the man who will change our future forever.
We heard their faint conversation through our closed door, I was busy drawing while Anya was throwing her doll up in the air and catching it. I had a shared doll that was the opposite color scheme of hers, our previous adoptive parents got it for us thinking it would be cute to have one thing matching.
"Pardon me." God, his voice was so soothing, "If possible, I'd like a child who can read and write."
The orphanage director sighed and slowly opened the door to our small room that we shared with another set of children. "Well, in that case... Anya, the other one. They're the smartest ones we've got. They don't talk much, especially the boy--but they're good kids." I was yanked from my seat by Anya, and she dusted my oversized black hoodie and shorts. "They're creepy, remind me of the shining twins... disgusting little brats. I'd be thrilled to get her outta my hair--Go on. Say hello."
"Er... Pardon me." Loid looked at the guy with a bit of disappointment before Anya screamed.
"Six. I--we are six!"
"You're six years old?" Even the director was surprised.
Loid was suspicious, as he should be but was he really in a position to argue with us? Anya scrambled over herself to pull out two crossword puzzles.
"A crossword puzzle?" Loid looked so unamused until we started banging out all of the questions. For me this was easy, Anya just copied off of, what I'm assuming to be Loids answers. Unfortunately, Eden's questions wouldn't be as easy as this, just by looking at the questions through the show, they looked to be way too advanced--Even for me.
"I'll take...I guess the both of them?" I'm surprised they decided to take both of us instead of just Anya...I wonder what he's thinking. "As for the paperwork..."
The orphanage director waved his hands, patting his canned beer in his back pocket. "Don't worry about that. Just take her already." 'What a mess of a man...'
"Are you okay with this?" Loid bent down to our eye level, his eyes actually carried fear...it ran a shiver down our backs. Anya was more than happy to let this man kidnap us. Each of us, on either side of the overworked male, waved goodbye to all of the other kids. Even if we've known them for a short while, they were total bitches. "Now, listen, you two--"
"Anya." We paused on the stairwell. She pointed at me and introduced me as well. 'I didn't give consent for you to be giving out my government name Anya--'. Anya gasped at me and looked back and forth between me and Loid--I forgot she could read minds. I need to be more careful.
"Now listen, Anya and Y/N, starting today, you will be my daughter and son, but if anyone asks, you've always been my children--got it?"
"Yep." Anya grinned.
Loid looked me right in my eyes "Got it, Y/N?"
I jumped when I noticed he was actually talking to me, and I gave a lazy thumbs up. He was contemptuous of my answer, he was lucky I was even responding to him. "Make sure you address me as 'Father'."
"Papa!"
"...."
"...Very well for now, we'll work on you later Y/N." He continued up the steps and put in the keys to our new--but soon-to-be ransacked--room.
"Well, aren't you a cute little girl? Hello there." The old lady noticed Anya first before our eyes met, "And what a dashing young boy!" I quickly rushed to Loids side, it looked as if she was going to pinch my cheeks and I was having non of that shit!
Loid grinned at my response, he put a hand on the back of my head for comfort. I cringed a bit but I allowed it, "We're the Forgers. We just moved in today."
"I am Anya. I have been Papa's child for a very long time."
"That....wasn't necessary. Come on, let's go inside." Loid assured us into the house.
"This is Anya's house?"
"Yes, this is our house."
Anya grabbed my hands and straight B-lined towards the TV that was in the corner of the room."A TV!"
"Go ahead and turn it on." I shook my hand free and sat on the couch as Anya turned on the TV and started dancing to the opening.
"I like this show." Anya pointed towards the screen as Spy wars started to play.
"Of all things..." Loid sighed and sat down next to me. I side-eyed him--however, he ignored me and was also interested in the show. The character, Bondman, was jumping around the screen: The was waving... a gun with a silencer?
"So exciting." I would make a joke but I couldn't do it, Anya looks so happy.
Loid secretly stood up from the couch, I wouldn't have noticed until he started to ramble on and on. "First, I'll have to gather everything we'll need and I'll have to forge an ID for them." He cleared his voice. "I'm going out for a bit. Just sit there and watch your show."
"An adventure!" Anya was quick to dismiss her show.
"I'm not going on an adventure. I'm just going shopping."
"I want a pistol with a silencer!"
"Sure. Maybe if we can find one on sale." No matter how hard Loid tried to shake Anya, he, unfortunately, was unable to shake the promiscuous girl. He sighed before looking at me, "Well, I guess you're coming with me... Let's go Y/N."
"...Do I have to?"
Loid jumped at my answers. Technically it was the first time I'd talked to him, "Well...I can't really leave you here alone."
I groaned and slid off the couch and flopped to the floor. I slowly dragged myself up off the floor and reportedly walked to the load. We walked down the steps and onto the streets, I tried my best to stay by loid and make sure Anya didn't run into the incoming traffic.
"Papa! Save me!" Anya screamed as she stepped away from the crowd. We jumped from her high pitch whales.
Loid left me behind as the ran after Anya, "Must you draw attention to yourself?"
'Now what if I get kidnapped?!'
Luckily for him, an old lady returned Anya to him. "Now, now. You need to make sure you hold the little one's hand...both of them, here."
The lady grabbed Lois's hands and softly put Anyas into his and grabbed my hand and attached it to Loid's other hand. I almost cried... his hands were so soft. He really is god's favorite.
I wonder how nice a hug from him might be? I couldn't help but imagine it. I left myself to my own fantasy before Anya broke free from loid and bolted under a sign. Loid looked down at me and sighed, he slowly turned towards Anya and asked, "What are you doing?"
"Hiding!"
The two awkwardly stood still, or well-crouched for Anya. I expected Loid to reach out for Anya or for her to eventually make her way back to Loud—however, they didn't move?
'What...is going on?'
At this point, we would've been down the street, but something is wrong—and I mean very wrong. Things should be going smoothly—
"Come on, Anya. We have to get going.." My own mouth betrayed me. My legs started to move on their own and I was crouching in front of the smaller girl. I lowered my voice, "it's for world peace!"
"Understanding us will lead to world peace?!" She paused for a moment, looking between me and Loid. She stood up in front of me, almost in a defensive stance, "I like peanuts and I don't like carrots."
"Uh-huh..." He did not look amused at all.
"But I really like crispy bacon from bakeries!"
"That's a bakery.' They do not sell bacon." Her face flushed red. She slowly walked away from the bakery and down the street, I chuckled a bit before following my sister. "What about you, Y/N? What do you like?"
I jumped at his question... "U-Um...they're these really good... h-half and half cookies..."
"Half and half cookies?"
(AN: They're little black and white half cookie...They might actually be my favorite snacks)
I can't make him suspicious. As weird as this is, I don't know how to act correctly to pretend to be a 6-year old—not even a four-year-old like Anya.
I have to watch and learn...
"I'd like this, please." Anya placed a coin on the table, a poster tightly clutched in her other hand. When did we get here?!
"That costs one dalc. You can't buy it with a ten-pence coin..." Loid sighed and slid a bill onto the table, once again the pink letters' face flushed pink. I comforted Anya as Loid gave us a stink eye. No way we were selling the smart children to this guy...
"N-No!" Anya suddenly busted out, her lips quivered and the tears quickly followed after. She went from keeping it together to being a full-on mess! "Pwease... don't get rid of us! D-Dont be suspicious of n/n! H-He's a sweet and loving browther! Don't get rid of us!"
Lois's heart stopped, and he quickly got down on one knee in front of us, "What's gotten into you?!"
I don't know what's gotten into me either, because right beside Anya I started to bawl. I suddenly got extremely overwhelmed.
I am six after all...
"Oh my!"
"What a terrible parent." Some of the other civilians were gassed.
"Pwease! I'm a good bargain!"
"I-I'm just shy! Please don't throw me away!" I might've cried even harder than Anya.
"What do I do? What should I do?!" He started panicking under his breath. "I'll buy you some peanuts and a huge cookie! Just stop crying!"
"Peanuts!"
Anya was sold quickly. However, I on the other hand, still had tears streaming down my face. No matter how much both of them tried to console me, I was just crying and crying...
Loid went from annoyed to overwhelmed very quickly. He was making all types of promises and sweets he could think of. None of it worked.
The two ladies eventually couldn't take my crying and they too tried their best, giving him suggestions on what to do. Asking if I've eaten, napped, hell even if I needed to use the bathroom!
I was still a bawling mess before he eventually had enough and scooped me into his arms. I stopped crying when they did that. It seems like he also was shocked by his actions. In those moments I didn't care anymore what was going to happen...
