Chapter 4
The two continue chatting for what feels like about an hour, but when Castiel glances at the clock, he sees that it's past quarter of two in the morning. When Dean sees Castiel look, he does too, and it's clear that this surprises more than just Castiel.
"When did that happen?" Dean asks.
"I honestly do not know," Castiel admits. "Hey, since you're here, you want to stay while I check my Twitter challenges, see what I actually have to do?"
Dean shrugs. "Sure."
Castiel pulls out his phone and opens Twitter. The most liked tweets haven't changed, so Castiel decides he might as well assume this is the final result and end it here.
"You should live steam now, since you're up," Dean remarks.
Castiel nods in agreement. "Might as well." He goes through tweets, quoting the top ones. For the ropes course, he quotes it with the words Why do you hate me? before he quotes the tweet with the live stream request.
An hour a week is a lot. How about random Facebook live streams? I'll be on in a few :)
And tweet. Now for the hard part. How does he start a Facebook live stream?
With Dean's help, he finally figures it out, and sets his laptop with the camera in front of him, with Dean sitting behind it so he's not in it. It's an unspoken agreement that they should keep their relationship under wraps, and a Facebook live stream together would not help that.
"Hey, guys!" Castiel greets the computer. This feels weird. Oh well. He sees people jointing the stream, so at least he knows he isn't talking to himself. "Guess what? I know how to live stream now. I know I supposed to answer your questions, but first I have to finish going through those tweets of yours." He scrolls through his Twitter app. "I feel bad ignoring you guys, but whatever. Okay. 'Tweet your phone number.' Alright, hold on." He quotes this tweet using the phone number he's memorized. "And tweet." He looks over at his computer. "You guys don't think it's real, do you? Call me." He pulls out his prepaid phone and answers a random call on speaker. "Hey, Castiel Novak here."
There's screaming on the other end, which makes Castiel laugh. He expected nothing less, of course, but that doesn't make it any less entertaining.
"Oh my god, you're Castiel," a girl's voice says. "You're actually Castiel. I'm talking to Castiel."
"You are," Castiel confirms. "And everyone watching my live stream. What's your name?"
"Mikayla."
"Hey, Mikayla. How are you?"
"I'm awesome! Oh my god, I can't believe this is even happening!"
"You better believe it," Castiel replies. "Because it is."
The girl squeals again. "I'm sorry, I'm just... Is this real life?"
"Is this just fantasy?" Castiel replies because Queen.
"What?"
He has to refrain from facepalming. "It's a song. Bohemian Rhapsody. I bet most of you have no idea what that is."
"You should sing it!" Mikayla suggests.
"No, I'm not — Okay, seriously? Everyone is telling me to sing that now. Guys, just look up the song. It's by Queen. I can't do it justice like them."
(Insert hour long time skip as Castiel talks to people)
Castiel answers yet another call, but before he has time to speak, someone else does.
"Is this the Krusty Krab?"
"No, this is Patrick," Castiel replies immediately, earning a laugh from Dean. He's yet to say anything, just hiding behind the camera with Castiel's guitar, playing softly. This is the first sound he's made, not including the guitar. Castiel looks over at him and gives him a goofy grin.
The person on the other end of the phone laughs. "Guys, someone knew it!" a voice yells, his voice sounding quiet as if the phone was pulled away from his mouth.
"Does anyone not know that?" Castiel asks.
"Buddy, you got no idea," the man replies.
Castiel looks over at his computer. "Wow, some of you guys actually don't know where that comes from. This is actually getting kinda depressing. First Bohemian Rhapsody, now SpongeBob? These are the classics, guys."
"Who doesn't know it?" the man asks, puzzled.
"The people watching my live stream," Castiel replies.
There's a laugh at the other end, more a taunt than anything. "You're live steaming yourself taking phone calls?" he repeats judgmentally.
"Um... Yes?" Castiel replies uncertainly. Shouldn't they know that? Unless... "Do you guys even know who I am?"
"Pfft, no. It's no fun to prank call someone you know."
Castiel chuckles. "I've literally had this phone for less than a day and I'm already getting prank calls. Wow. That's awesome."
"Why are you live streaming yourself answering calls?" the man asks.
"Because he's Castiel freaking Novak!" Dean yells like an annoying high school jock. "Hell yeah!"
"Shut up," Castiel says, rolling his eyes.
"You're Castiel Novak?" the man repeats, his voice filled with incredulity. "Yeah, right."
"No, I am. And this is easily the most entertaining call I've had. Thanks for that."
"You're not Castiel Novak."
"I'm fine with you thinking that," Castiel replies. "But if you want proof, I'm live streaming on Facebook right now. Go check it out."
"We will," he replies. The sound of him telling someone to look it up is heard faintly, and he clearly pulls the phone away from his mouth to speak. After a moment, he says, "Am I — Oh, wow. You're Castiel Novak."
Castiel chuckles. "Yep."
"So now I know your number, and I could sell it for so much money."
"Or you could check my Twitter," Castiel suggests. "It's there, too. Nice plan, though. I like your initiative."
"You put your number on Twitter? Why would you ever do that?"
Castiel shrugs. "Why not?"
"Touché."
