Castiel finds Lucifer sitting at the end of the street on his phone. Does he even have friends besides the Winchesters and Novaks? Actually, knowing him, he's probably playing Flappy Bird.
Without looking up, Lucifer says, "If you're here to brag about the bet, mark my words, Castiel. I will get them together. I just have to rethink my strategy, because I'm getting sick of Truth or Dare."
"No, Luce, bet's off," Castiel replies, surprised that thad what he thought of when he realized he was here. Castiel takes a seat next to him on the curb. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I didn't leave cuz I was upset. I just didn't want to deal with all the pestering. Like, I know none of you guys would know this, but it's actually normal for a straight guy to be attracted to a hot girl."
"Yeah, and it's also normal for said straight guy to let said hot girl tell him if she likes him, too," Castiel replies.
"She doesn't," Lucifer tells him. "You know me. I'm a very spontaneous person. If I thought there was any chance at all that she liked me back, I would have told her weeks ago. But she likes someone else. I can tell."
"Who?" Castiel asks. "Someone you know? Or are you just assuming?"
"Not saying," he replies. "Just trust me. Just wishful thinking for both of us. I've come to accept it and moved on. Well, moved on as much as I can."
"And you're sure you're okay?" Castiel asks.
Lucifer nods. "Yep. Well, I'm kinda upset that I didn't get Adam and Samandriel together, but otherwise, yes, I'm fine."
"Okay, good," Castiel replies awkwardly. "Hey, just out of curiosity, why'd you start playing guitar? Was that about Claire?"
"Would you believe me if I said I wanted to be like you?"
"Really?" Castiel says in surprise.
Lucifer just nods.
"But... Why? I mean, have you even met me? Why would you ever want to be like me?"
Lucifer shrugs. "You're cool. Even if your screwed up mind won't let you believe it."
Castiel scoffs. "Yeah, so I've heard. I figured you'd know otherwise, seeing as you've known me since the day I was born, and not just 'famous' me, though."
"You've gotta stop being so negative," Lucifer tells him. "You're awesome. End of story."
"I wish that was the end of my story," Castiel mutters under his breath.
"Hmm?"
"Nothing," Castiel lies. "But I'm actually a very positive, self-loving person. You just don't see it cuz I have to be modest." Another lie, but Lucifer doesn't know that.
"Good," Lucifer replies. "You deserve to know your awesomeness."
They lapse into silence, and though Castiel knows Lucifer wouldn't mind if he left, he stays with his brother anyway. They don't talk about anything, but talking is overrated, anyway.
Suddenly, Lucifer asks, "What're you humming?"
Wait, he was humming? He thought he was being quiet. Apparently not.
"Just a random song I thought of," he replies.
"Well, you can't just say that and not sing it."
"Watch me," Castiel replies.
"Please?"
"No."
"Pretty please?"
"Nope."
"Pretty please with a cherry on top?"
"Not happening."
"Pretty please with an apple in top?"
"Um... No."
"Pretty please with an orange on top?"
"Nope."
"Pretty please with a banana on top?"
"No."
"Pretty please with a square on top?"
"Okay, that one doesn't even make sense."
"When have I ever made sense?"
"Touché."
"No, but like, seriously," Lucifer continues. "I wanna hear it."
"No, but like, seriously, no," Castiel mocks him.
"Why not? You show me your music all the time! Why can't I hear it?" he whines like a child begging their parents for a piece of candy.
"Because."
"I'm just gonna keep bugging you, so you might as well tell me now," Lucifer says.
Castiel sighs. "You know, it's kinda annoying how annoying you are. Fine. But no judging me or the song."
"Yes!" Lucifer pumps his fists in victory. "Sing, my little song bird. Sing."
Castiel chuckles at his weirdness that he'll never really be used to before singing his newly created song that just came to him.
"You struck me and I bled.
You scared me and I hid.
And even though the coast is clear,
I decide to stay right here,
In the corner, trembling in fear.
And then some other line that ends in 'ee' that I haven't thought of yet," he finishes.
Lucifer just stars at him for a moment. Finally, "That's some deep shit right there. You just thought of that?"
Castiel nods. "Mm hmm."
"That's awesome. And kinda depressing."
"Just like me!" Castiel adds jokingly.
"I think that should be your theme song," Lucifer tells him. "Or maybe something a little more upbeat. Like, Batman doesn't have a slow theme song. Batman has the 'dunununununununun dunununununununun Batman!' thing, and he's the epitome of theme songs. I don't know if I used that word right. But I guess Vader doesn't have a very upbeat theme song, and he's pretty freaking cool. Not as cool as Kylo, though, and I refuse to believe otherwise."
Castiel chuckles. "You are so random sometimes."
"Sometimes?" Lucifer repeats, raising an eyebrow as he waits for Castiel to correct it.
"Okay, all the time."
Lucifer nods. "Now, that's more like it."
