Chapter 191

The gang heads out to the boat early the next morning, despite Alex's fussing. It's rather comical to watch all the golf carts stroll down the streets together. Fortunately, they don't have to wait long for the boat to arrive, and they're off to the Magic Kingdom.

It's an open boat, and they can feel the wind against them; especially Castiel, sitting on the side, closest to the water. Dean is sitting next to him, an arm casually placed around his shoulders. He's like Castiel's own personal heater.

They get off at a different resort, which Lucifer says leads them to the Magic Kingdom. The only problem is that they don't know how to get there.

"So..." Lucifer looks around uncertainly. "Wanna try going this way?"

"And if you get us more lost?" Michael challenges.

Lucifer shrugs. "Then we'll ask for help, but I'm an independent Satan who don't need no Disney cast member."

Lucifer leads the way, walking to the right of the building. Everyone else decides to trust him blindly, and Michael reluctantly follows them. Sure enough, Lucifer does make it to the park after only a few minutes, and they have to get their bags checked and go through metal detectors before they can just sit and chill as they wait for the park to officially open. They got there extremely early so they can ride some things before the lines build up, but apparently, they're far from the only ones with this idea.

Eventually, they're given the all clear to go inside. They all grab a map, and Lucifer asks for suggestions on what to do first, but no one calls anything out. Finally, he volunteers an idea.

"I hear Space Mountain always has a long line, so wanna hit it now, before there's really a line?"

"What's that?" Adam and Samandriel ask at the same time, which causes both of them to burst out laughing.

"It's a rollercoaster, I think," Lucifer says. He must see Castiel cringe, because he adds, "But it's not a super intense one, so you gotta ride it with us."

Castiel shakes his head. "Nope. Not happening."

"What, scared of a little rollercoaster?" Dean asks teasingly.

"Yes, yes I am."

Dean opens his mouth to say something, then closes it. He clearly wasn't expecting Castiel to agree with him.

"Come on, ride it with us once," Claire insists. "Then you can sit it out if you don't like it."

Castiel hesitates, then sighs. "Fine. Lead the way."

What should be a few minutes' walk takes much longer, because none of them are familiar with the park's twists and turns, and the map only helps so much. Eventually, Michael gets so fed up with them that he just walks away, and Lucifer runs after him, prompting everyone else to follow the two.

"Mikey," Lucifer whines. "Mikey! Mikey, where are we going? Mikey!"

Michael doesn't answer him, but Lucifer doesn't give up asking. Suddenly, Michael stops, and Lucifer almost walks into him.

"Tomorrowland sound right to you?" Michael asks, looking up at the large sign that says the name.

"Um, yeah, actually," Lucifer says. "How did you get here?"

"I used a map. You guys should try it sometime."

"But you weren't looking at a map," Lucifer protests. "Have you been here before and just never told me? It's like the bar all over again!"

Michael gives him a really? look. "When would I possibly have time to do that? No, I looked at the map, saw where we were supposed to go, and just went there."

"And you just left us to fend for ourselves?" Gabriel asks as if he's more offended than he is. "Et tu, Brute."

"I assumed Lucifer would notice and follow," Michael explains. "And that you were all too satisfied getting lost to listen when I told you where to go. I figure I'd either bring you there, or I'd get there myself and ride it without you, and probably be done before you got here, so I could ride it with you again. Now come on. I didn't wake up early so we could just stand around all day."

Michael leads the way to a huge white oddly-shaped building that they all assume is this so-called Space Mountain. Finally, they ask the question that should have occurs to them earlier.

"So... who takes Alex?" Claire asks, holding the baby to her chest.

"Ooh, can I?" Castiel asks.

"No," Dean says immediately.

"But —"

"You're just trying to get out of riding it."

"Yes, yes I am," Castiel replies. He's really not a rollercoaster fan, and he'd be more than happy to skip the ride to hold Alex.

"Well, stop it. You're riding with us. You don't have a choice."

Castiel crosses his arms but doesn't argue, because he knows it's pointless. Dean will get his way, one way or another. He always does.

"I'll take her," Lucifer volunteers. "You guys go have fun. I'll just chill out here and wait and probably walk around and soak in the magic."

"Awesome." Claire says, handing him the baby. She presses a kiss to his cheek. "You're the best."

The rest of the group heads inside, where they spend what feels like ten minutes just walking through the cue.

"Is this how long the line gets during the day?" Castiel wonders aloud.

"Probably," Dean says. "The sign said, what, fifteen minute wait? It can get up to, like, two hours on busy days. 'Specially when it breaks down, 'cause I guess when that happens, they try to fix it without telling you, but if they give up, you get a little paper FastPass to go ride a different ride."

Castiel stares at him with wide eyes. "If it breaks? How often does it break if they've figured the whole system out? What if it breaks while we're riding it? Why are we even riding something that breaks a lot?"

"Chill," Dean says with a light laugh, putting a hand on us back comfortingly. "It's not dangerous. Sometimes it just freezes, and they turn the lights on and you walk away. No one gets hurt." Dean pauses, then adds, "Well, the people who waited for a couple hours and didn't get to ride may be a little butt hurt, but that's about it."

"But what if this is the time someone does get hurt?" Castiel asks.

"Cas, it's okay," Dean assures him. "No one's gonna get hurt. We're just gonna ride it and have fun and everything is going to be okay."

Castiel swallows hard and nods. For the entire walk to the ride, he fiddles with his hands, trying to distract himself from the fact that he's about to ride a rollercoaster that breaks a lot. Who thought this was a good idea?

Finally, it's time to ride. The carts are arranged in two groups of three, each in front of the other. Sam sits in the very front, followed by Gabriel, then Samandriel. The second half of their cart is Adam, Dean, and Castiel in the very back.

The cart begins to move down the track, stopping to check seatbelts, and then they're off. Castiel balls his hands into fists, which makes him feel a little better, but he's still nervous, despite the cart moving at just a walking pace. They stroll through a tunnel, where the walls flash red, almost like they're in a futuristic device for teleportation or time travel.

Suddenly, a bright light flashes, and Castiel barely processes that it's a photo before the cart is suddenly in "space." It's dark enough that he can see the "stars" on the wall, bring the space inside Space Mountain to life, but light enough that he can still see the tracks just above him. The first time they fly under one, he yelps, ducking his head, but he soon realizes that if they were going to hit him, they would have decapitated Sam first.

Somehow, Dean has the courage to ride it with his hands up, though they're barely above the top of his head, probably because he noticed the tracks as well. Every time there's a drop or a lurch that causes Castiel to yelp, Dean laughs, and Castiel almost wants to smack him, but he's too afraid to move.

Finally, the ride is over, and they all step out of their cart at a new location, where they find an array of six screens waiting for them, each one with a different picture of it. Dean starts laughing the moment he sees theirs.

"Cas, you look like you're expecting to die in a minute," he says.

"Funny, 'cause that's exactly how I was feeling," Castiel deadpans.

Dean taps his Magic Band park ticket against the scanner to save the picture, and Sam does it to theirs.

"This isn't fair," Samandriel complains. "I was supposed to be in the picture with Adam! Now I'm just stuck with these two losers."

"And we made the picture so much better," Gabriel adds, sticking his tongue out at him. "Is everyone still here with their heads attached?"

"What?" Adam laughs.

"Well, Sam almost got scalped a few times, so I wanna make sure all our tall humans are still alive."

"So, everyone but you," Sam adds teasingly.

"Wow, Sam, that was rude and uncalled for," Gabriel tells him. "I never make fun of your height."

"But you do," Sam reminds him. "All the time."

Gabriel waves a hand dismissively. "Ah, whatever. Technicalities."

They find Lucifer where they left him. He's bouncing slightly for Alex's sake as he talks to a couple of girls who probably just left college for the year. Castiel is almost hesitant to go talk to them, because he's sure they recognized Lucifer, and if they recognized Lucifer, they'll probably recognize him, too, and Castiel kind of just wants to ride things in piece. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to have much of a choice.

"Ooh, hey, it's my humans!" Lucifer says, interrupting whatever he had been saying to the girls. "Do you guys know my humans?" He introduces them anyway, because even if they know Lucifer, Castiel, and Dean, very few people knows who Gabriel, Sam, Adam, and Samandriel are.

"Oh my god," one of the girls breathes, staring at Castiel like he's a god. He probably is, in their minds.

"Hi," Castiel says, giving them his typical small, kind smile that he gives to all his fans in hopes that it won't freak them out enough that they start crying. It doesn't always work.

"Can — can we get a picture?" one of the other girls stammers.

"Sure." He wishes they wouldn't, because it typically draws more attention to him, but maybe he'll make it through this quickly, before anyone notices.

"So, how was the ride?" Lucifer asks as Castiel is dragged into a picture.

"Well," Gabriel begins before anyone else can, "It took a lot of walking to get to the actual line, so that was way too much exercise, and then the ride was kinda cramped, and Sam almost got decapitated."

Lucifer gives him a confused look at the last part before looking over at Sam. "You almost got decapitated?"

"Yeah, the ride's not meant for tall people," Sam says with a shrug. "But I managed to get off with my head intact."

"Hey, Cas," Dean says randomly. "C'mere. I gotta show you something."

"What are you...?" Lucifer asks quietly,

Dean just shakes his head before leading Castiel away. Once they've escaped, he says, "I have literally nothing to show you and I just wanted to get you away from the fangirls."

Castiel chuckles. "I should've guessed. You never were a people person."

"Ain't that the truth," Dean agrees. "So, wanna go explore and get lost and maybe ride some stuff?"

~~~
"Ooh, that looks cool," Castiel says, pointing to a building nearby. It takes him a moment to process that the banner draped across the building reading "Dead men tell no tales" is from Pirates of the Caribbean. That must be the ride theme.
"Yeah, I've heard that one's awesome," Dean agrees. "Wanna ride it? It's only a 15 minute wait, and if it's anything like Space Mountain, that means there's no actual waiting."
"Hell yeah, I do."
Castiel takes his hand as they walk into the cue together. It appears the beginning is prepared for a lot of people to be able to wait, and it's comforting to see that the long cue has been shortened to a straight line. Apparently, there aren't a lot of people here yet.
They do end up stopped a few minutes later, and they take the opportunity to just talk.
"So," Dean says, "How're you liking Disney so far?"
"I still think you're a dick for making me ride Space Mountain," Castiel replies.
"Aw, come on, it was t that bad!" Dean protests. "Wasn't it fun? Other than the almost-being-decapitated aspect of it?"
"No!" Castiel says immediately. "No, it was not fun. It was freaking scary, and I don't know how I survived it. You guys said it wasn't that bad!"
"It's not," Dean repeats. "You're just not cut out for amusement parks, apparently. But don't worry, because I will force you to have fun, one way or another. This is going to be the best week and a half of your life. I promise."
~~~

They sit down in the last row of little boat in the manmade river, sitting next to each other, unlike the cars on Space Mountain. Dean pulls the lap bar down for them, which has Castiel concerned once more.

"I thought this ride was going to be chill," Castiel says quickly. "Why do we need a lap bar if it's supposed to be chill?"

"Relax," Dean laughs. "I think it's just to keep you in the ride. I don't think there are any drops or flips or fast parts."

"You don't think?" Castiel repeats. "Wow, that's so comforting!"

"Hey." Dean puts an arm around his shoulders reassuringly. "Relax. If we were going on another rollercoaster, I would tell you. I promise. But this isn't one. It's just a nice, slow ride, and I think we get to stare at Johnny Depp, so it's automatically awesome. Okay?"

"Mm-hmm."

The ride is actually really cool. They ride through a foggy version of Captain Blackbeard, who Castiel wouldn't have recognized if Dean hadn't said it was him. Clearly, Castiel needs to watch the movies again, because it's been nearly two decades. Next, they pass a skeleton steering a boat, which Castiel almost finds funny, but humor doesn't quite fit with the mood. On the shore, there's a mermaid's corpse, and Castiel finds himself almost hypnotized by the rib-like shape of her tail's bones. There's a sweet singing in the background, which Castiel can only assume is from a mermaid in the water.

They turn the corner, and suddenly, they're enveloped in darkness. Castiel feels himself tense, not sure wha to expect but sure that he won't like it.

"I swear to god, Dean, if there's a drop here," Castiel mutters.

"There's, like, no safety restraints here," Dean reminds him. "There's not going to be a drop."

Castiel nods once, trying to will himself to believe that, which makes it even worse when there really is a drop. Castiel yelps, but fortunately, it only lasts a moment until they're bam on their path, traveling just as slowly as before.

"See, you survived!" Dean says teasingly.

Castiel just elbows him in the rib to shut him up.

The rest of the ride is fairly uneventful. Eventually, it's over, and they find themselves in a gift shop, where Castiel gets to complain without annoying anyone else.

"You said there wasn't going to be a drop," Castiel pouts.

"Apparently, I was wrong," Dean replies with a shrug. "But come on. It was just a little itty bitty baby drop. It's nothing compared to Splash Mountain."

"Compared to what?" Castiel asks quickly. "Mountain" sounds like a rollercoaster, just like Space Mountain, but "Splash" means water, and water can't move as fast as a rollercoaster, so he must be missing something.

"You'll see," Dean replies mysteriously. "Ooh, hey, look!" He grabs a plastic sword and holds it up like a pirate. "Arrrr, matey!"

Castiel laughs. "You're such a dork."

"Yeah, and you love it."

Castiel finds some plastic chains and slips his wrists inside. "Lucifer would have a field day with these," he remarks, thinking about all his brother's weird video ideas.

"I think I could have a little more fun with you in chains than he could," Dean says with a smirk.

Castiel smacks him with the chain. "Tone it down, you kinky son of a bitch," he laughs. "There are children present!"

"There won't be any children present tonight," Dean says with a wink.

Castiel slips the chains off of his wrists and puts them back where they belong. "No, but there will be siblings present."

"Ah, details." Dean waves a hand dismissively. "Wanna go find another ride?"

"Sure." Just then, Castiel's phone rings, and he pulls it out to see that it's Lucifer calling, so he answers it. "Sup?"

"Just making sure you're still alive," Lucifer says. "You and Dean just kinda disappeared, and the group disbanded, and now it's just me, Claire, Alex, Charlie, Gilda, Sam, and Gabriel, which, in hindsight, is a lot of people, but it doesn't feel like it. Anyway, where you at?"

"Uh..." Castiel glances over at the ride. "The Pirates of the Caribbean thing. You?"

"Waiting for people to get off Big Thunder Mountain Railroad," Lucifer replies.

"Why aren't you riding?" Castiel asks.

"'Cause lil Alex is too small to ride, so someone has to keep her company. Are you still with Dean?"

"Obviously." Where else would either of them go?

"Alrighty, folks," Lucifer says in an exaggerated southern accent. "Y'all should c'mon down the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. You down, partner?"

"Only if you keep talking like that," Castiel replies.

"Will do, partner. See ya in a few?"

"If we can find you." Castiel ends the call and pulls out a map.

"Lucifer?" Dean guesses.

"Of course," Castiel replies. "Now come on. We're gonna go Satan hunting."

A/N It occurs to me that starting their trip in Magic Kingdom was a bad idea because I could easily write 20,000 words about that place so idk how long to make these chapters because none of the other parks are as interesting so I'm just gonna average 3k to 4k words per chapter and hope for the best
