Chapter 168
A/N I miss Destiel so I'm just gonna summarize the next month into this one chapter so I can get back to Dean. Also this is a short chapter but whatever.
According to the Billboard Top 100, Castiel's new single debuts at number three, just behind his first promo single and his duet with Taylor Swift. Clearly, the charts are in his favor this year. Either that or none of the main pop idols have been releasing anything, which is probably the case, but he prefers to think that he's getting better.
He's not used to his songs grouping together on the charts like that, and certainly not so high up, so he obviously feels a bit of pride in that. This was a hastily put together album, and the videos aren't very intricate, but the concept is there, and people seem to like that.
Individual reactions to the album seem to vary. Some people used the idea against him. He basically admitted to being a fake version of himself while in the spotlight, and some people are taking that to mean that he's actually way worse than he sounds. He's even heard "white supremacist" and "misogynistic" thrown around a few times, but most sane people seem to agree that those people are just using his name for attention.
His fans had interesting things to say. Some people were really excited about the new album. He's seen a lot of people say they really relate to what he said when he introduced it, and that it was such an amazing concept to turn into what they're clearly expecting to be an amazing album.
Other fans aren't so thrilled with it. According to them, they like Castiel for his style of music, and it's stupid of him to change the type of music he writes that made him stand out among the "popular" musicians who make the same type of song over and over.
Castiel can see both sides of it. Yes, his fans expect him to give them what he always gives them, and rightfully so. He's given them five albums of the same type of music, and each one sold thousands more copies than the one before, so people are really getting into his typical sound.
But at the same time, it's his album, and it's his life. He can release whatever type of music he wants to. That's essentially the point of the album in the first place. He doesn't have to listen to anyone else or be who they want him to be.
Castiel spends a very long time messaging fan accounts about his LGBT+ pride parade. He asks them to keep it a secret, but tells them that they can invite fellow Castiel enthusiasts if they want. He finds a lot of new fan accounts to follow as he searches for fans to message, bringing his following count up by almost five hundred over the course of a week.
He invites about a thousand people, which may seem like a lot, and it is, but that will just make it better. While he assumes a lot of them won't make it, the ones who will are likely going to bring friends. He'd be surprised if less than two thousand people show up. It'll be a lot to organize when they have no real prior knowledge of how this is going to go, but he'll make it work. He always does.
A/N Highkey just wrote this at my dance lock-in because that's the type of person I am. Anyway, Dean is coming back next chapter so Destiel is not lost.
