:: xii. | ripping off the bandaid

Two weeks ago, everyone talked about their life problems and now, no it hasn't gotten any better. Especially for Haley and Nathan, things only gotten worse with this scandal. As in worst, meaning that Renee Richardson is now wanting money to make this problem go away. Nathan and clay are fine with giving away money, but Haley isn't. So that of course causes some tension in the James-Scott household. To make their life more interesting than it already is, they have an unexpected visitor coming.

Haley sat the dining table grading papers as Jaime was playing in his room and Nathan was out. She continues to plaster grades on the papers and just as she finishes, there was a ring of the doorbell. Haley got up from the table and made her way to the door. She soon opened it and it was her favorite sister but sadly, she didn't come alone.

"Quinn! This is very unexpected." She hugged her sister.

"Well we missed our little sis." Quinn smiled as they broke apart from the quick embrace.

"We?" Haley was a bit confused.

"Hey, hales." Taylor walked in, "Where's my room?"

Quinn just sent Haley an I'm sorry look as Haley tried her best to look not so annoyed.

Chad laid on the sofa in the living room while scrolling through his messages between him and Ashely. He was so excited that he was going to see his sister in only a few hours. He couldn't explain how much he missed her and when his life was not going the way he planned, she always found a way to steer him back on track.

As he was lost in his thoughts, there was a knock at the door. At first he thought it was weird cause everyone has a key to the place and no one ever comes over. But once he heard another knock, he got up and walked to the door. He opened it and it was someone he was not expecting.

"Hi, Brooke." He practically whispered.

She gave him a small smile before walking in and him closing the door behind her. Once the door shut, he slid his hands into the pockets of his jeans walking forward to her, but not so close. A distant where they were far enough apart, like six feet almost.

"What brings you here?" He questioned.

She sighed, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I never meant to hurt you. I feel you deserve an explanation."

Chad looked down, then back up at her. "It sucked. If you don't really love me, then ok. I guess that was the best thing to do."

"It wasn't that. I do love you. It's just Peyton got in my head. I didn't wanna lose her. She was already absent from my life for awhile and I just got her back." She tried to justify what she did.

Chad scoffed, "So you value friendship over this?" He referred to himself and Brooke.

"It wasn't an easy decision." Brooke tried so hard not to cry even though she really wanted too.

"Oh i bet it was." He chuckled. "You were so quick to throw this relationship away. You already had a new guy in your bed."

"Julian just showed up. I wasn't trying—" Tears started to fall from her eyes.

"Right." He cut her off. "I'm not gonna lie to you. I miss you. But this —- you were so quick to jump into another relationship. It took you forever to talk to me about this. And what sucks is that I still want you." He paused for second, "I look into your eyes and I can already tell someone else took that place in your heart. As much as I want to kiss you right now, I know you have something good with him and I don't want to ruin that for you."

Even though he wasn't sure of how he felt about Peyton, he was most definitely sure of how he felt about Brooke right in that moment.

"At the end of the day, I'm a good guy. I just want you to be happy but right now, I'm sad and when I look at you.... all I see is a girl who broke my heart." He finished.

Just as Brooke was about to say something, he blurts out, "Goodbye, Brooke."

And with that, he opened the door and she left. Brooke gave him something he was longing for seven years. He thought he might've found it, but after tonight he realized how much he was lying to himself.

"I've never seen him like that before. He was so broken." Brooke sat in the living room talking to Peyton.

"Sorry, Brooke." Peyton didn't really know what to say. They never really talked about Chad before.

"It's my own fault. I just don't know what to do now. Are him and I friends? Cause i don't know." Brooke was confused. She understood everything, she just wanted to know where she stands with Chad.

Peyton stood up and started to make her way towards the door, "Well i have to run out. I could stay though, If you need anything." She offered.

"No. I'll be fine." Brooke replied and with that, Peyton gave her a slight smile and left the house.

She got in her car and drove to a place where she did not know she would end up. After she parked the car, she got out and headed to mouth's apartment. She slowly walked up to the door and lightly knocked on it. After a moment or so, he answered.

"How you doing, idiot?" She ask him.

Chad just chuckled with a shake of his head, "I've had better days." And with that, he let her in.

To be continued . . . .
