Chapter Six
EDITED
Isabelle walked into Scott's room to see her brother and friend sitting on the carpeted floor with the radio playing. Stiles stopped whatever was playing, looking at the girl with a confused look on his face.
"Are you just getting home?" Stiles asked, "It's like eleven."
"She was with her boyfriend." Scott replied with a smirk.
"Liam?" Stiles questioned, making Scott nod. "Liam?" He repeated with more emphasis this time, looking at the girl in disgust.
"Relax, dad," She said, sarcastically. Stiles hated how similar they were sometimes. "He is not my boyfriend. Now play the tape again and fill me in on why we still have what seems to be half of a million dollars." Stiles nodded and replayed the cassette.
"After entering the IP address, you will be connected through a Darknet portal to an untraceable bank. Once logged in, enter your account number to receive wire transfers. The IP address will deactivate with each transfer. You will be assigned a new IP address if you choose to continue down the list. Remember, visual confirmation is always required for payment." The man on the tape said. Stiles had again pressed pause.
"You ever made a wire transfer?" Stiles asked the siblings.
"In this economy?" Isabelle retorted.
"So you didn't understand a word of that either?"
"I don't understand any of this." Scott admitted. "Why would someone use all this money just to kill us?"
"Someone wants you dead, dude. Badly," Stiles started. Scott took the money and put it back into the duffle bag. "Whoa, whoa, what are you doing?"
"It's late. We've got the PSATS in the morning." Scott replied.
"No. I meant the money, five hundred thousand dollars. You know how much money that is?"
"It's five hundred thousand." Scott trailed, confused.
"It's half a million dollars, Scott. What are you going to do, just slide it under your mattress?"
Scott and Stiles continued to talk about the money but Isabelle paid no attention. She had just spent hours with a boy who wasn't Mason or older than her by at least three years. She spent hours with a boy she knew she felt differently towards, though she wouldn't admit that to anyone. She didn't want to even leave his side, but if she hadn't Scott would worry, and when Scott worries about Isabelle it's not pretty. Isabelle snapped out of her day dream when they heard a knock at the door.
"We found Satomi's pack." Malia began. "Derek and I. But they're dead."
"All of them?" Isabelle asked in shock.
"All the ones we found."
"Then where's Derek?" Stiles asked.
"What are you going to do tomorrow?" Scott asked as Isabelle made the two of them tea, something they do regularly at night.
"I might go and hang out with Liam again." Isabelle said and then shrugged. "Haven't given it much thought."
"So you two...?"
"It's not like that." Isabelle mumbled, putting fallen strands of hair behind her ear.
"Isabelle, do you like him?"
"I don't know. Maybe." Isabelle whispered, looking at her brother.
"Izzy, this is great. Why are you so worried?"
"He's your beta, Scott. He's part of the pack and you're extremely protective. Not to mention I don't know if he likes me. I mean they call it a "crush" when you like someone because that's what you feel most of the time, crushed. I don't want to admit I like him because that takes away any chance of me believing I don't so that I don't get hurt." Isabelle ranted. "I've never felt this way towards someone. So I'm going to keep all my emotions inside and then one day I'll die."
"So you're genuinely afraid."
"I'm terrified, Scott."
The next morning Isabelle made her way to Liam's house, she greeted his mother, who had opened the door. Mrs. Geyer wasn't very surprised when the girl showed up, she was all Liam could talk about for weeks and she had already adored the girl.
"He's upstairs, hon." The woman said.
Isabelle smiled in appreciation, "Thanks, Mrs. Geyer!" The girl spoke before practically skipping up the stairs. She had shown up about fifteen minutes before the time she and Liam agreed on but she was bored and she knew he wasn't up to anything. She knocked on his bedroom door. Liam answered the door with a smirk on his face, "Couldn't stand to be away from me for fifteen more minutes?" He asked.
Isabelle rolled her eyes but decided to play along. "It felt like I could die without you by my side."
"I knew you were in love with me."
"Are you watching Twilight?" The girl asked while looking at the TV attempting to change the subject. Liam's cheeks and ears turned red.
"It was for werewolf research purposes." He tried to explain. The girl smirked and sat on his bed.
"So does that mean you're team Jacob?"
"I am never going to hear the end of this."
"Absolutely not."
Liam and Isabelle were now on to the third movie of the Twilight saga and while Isabelle never had cared for it before, she had found herself engulfed in the movie. Or maybe it was the boy by her side who played with her fingers and held her hand through the whole movie.
"Your phone buzzed." Liam's said, nodding his head in the direction.
Isabelle grabbed her phone and slid to unlock it, "It's the sheriff, the schools under quarantine." Isabelle said. l
"He say for what?" Liam asked, Isabelle shook her head.
Isabelle placed her phone back to the spot it was in and Liam grabbed her hands again.
"What are you doing, Loca?" Isabelle laughed as she referenced the movie.
"I don't know, Belle." He replied, rolling his eyes playfully.
"Belle?"
"Yeah, you're a princess, like Belle who always had her head stuck in a book. That happened one of the first times I saw you. And it means beautiful."
"Does that make you the beast?" Isabelle asked, slightly amused. If she were being honest, she would've found this absolutely cringey if it were anyone but Liam.
"Only if you want it to." He replied.
Neither of the teens realized how close they were getting, physically.
"I want it to." Isabelle smiled.
Liam looked into Isabelle's eyes and to her lips and then back to her eyes and let go of her hands. He places his new free hands on both sides of her face, Isabelle put her hands on his chest lightly, both of them leaning in.
"Is this okay?" Liam whispered, feeling like if he spoke up he would wake up from this. "Could I, could I kiss you?"
"Yeah." Isabelle whispered back.
"I'm going to kiss you!" Liam whispered, trying to hide his excitement though Isabelle could feel his heartbeat under her hand.
The two leaned in closer until there was no space between them until their lips me. To say Isabelle was nervous was an understatement. She had kissed people before but never anyone she felt this way towards. She looked at Liam as they pulled away from each other. Liam smiled at her and rested his forehead onto hers.
"I've been wanting to do that for weeks." The girl smiled as the boy said it.
"I'm glad you finally did." She said. Her phone vibrated in her pocket, she took her phone out. She swiped to unlock her phone before sharing the news she was receiving to Liam. "It's Stiles. The pack isn't doing so good. They've locked themselves in the Hale Vault."
"So you have to go?" Liam asked, disappointment taking over him.
"Lydia's on her way there now, she's going to pick me up and I'm going to go with her."
"Can we kiss until she gets here?"
Isabelle smiles and leaned in to kiss the boy. Five minutes later Isabelle's phone buzzed again, signaling her strawberry blonde friend was here.
"I have to go." Isabelle mumbled.
Liam walked Isabelle to the door before the girl was able to walk out of the house Liam pulled her in for a last kiss.
"I'll talk to you later."
Isabelle nodded and walked to Lydia's car.
"Did I just see you and Liam kiss or was that fairy dust in my eyes because it was magical." Lydia said.
"We kissed, that's it."
"So you guys aren't together?"
"No, I don't. I don't think we are. Maybe we will be... I don't know Lydia."
"Sweetie, he likes you a lot from what I can tell. He kissed you! That obviously means something."
"Sheriff! Sheriff!" Lydia and Isabelle shouted as they made their way in front of a crowd of people.
"Whoa, hey! I know these girls, let them in." Stilinski said.
"My mom's in there. What's happening?" Lydia said.
"We're working on it."
"Lydia... As all this is still very new to me, and I don't know how it works, I still have to ask. Do you have any kind of... Indication? Any kind of feeling about this? Is someone in there going to die?" Noah whispered.
"Yes. And it's not just a feeling." Lydia replied.
Isabelle walked through the doors of the school with Lydia and the Sheriff. Lydia ran over to her mom.
"I'm gonna find Scott." Isabelle said.
When Isabelle found her brother she ran to him and pulled him into a hug, she ran to Stiles next, and then Kira.
"I'm so glad you guys are okay."
"We're all okay, Isabelle." Scott said, as Kira rubbed the younger girl's back.
"Is that a hickey?" Stiles asked.
"No," Isabelle replied, covering her neck with her hand. "Let's go home!"
