Chapter seven

(As always go see EyesOfAmethyst for her side of the story)

I paced back and forth in front of the window. I had left the party about half an hour ago and she still wasn't here. Amethyst, I swear to God, if you got hung up on one of those guys. I cursed under my breath. We had both agreed to stay at Dixie's tonight, but she still wasn't here. I had changed into a nightgown (which I borrowed from Dixie) and was probably making a dent in the ground from pacing so much.
After what seemed like forever, I heard footsteps. I turned and saw Amethyst opening the door sheepishly. When she saw me, she immediately looked like she just stuck her hand into a hornets nest. Uh hi? She said, voice laced with mild terror. I opened my mouth to yell at her, but got a different idea instead. I closed my mouth and ignored she even said anything. I walked over to the bed, climbed in, grabbed the book that was left on the dresser next to the bed, and began reading. Huh? Amethyst walked in and closed the door behind her. Uh, Aria? She asked. I ignored her. C-come on, this isn't funny! Amethyst said. I continue to ignore her. If there was one thing I knew about Amethyst, it was that she hated being ignored. Especially by me. Aria? Aria? Aria?! ARIA!! COME ON, ARIA?! I'm sorry!! She said loudly, shaking my legs. I pull my legs up and continue reading. Amethyst flopped onto the bed, stuffing her face in the pillow next to me. She began flailing her arms and legs in frustration and kept mumbling into the pillow that she was sorry. After a while she stopped her flailing and just lay there, defeated. I put my book down and put my hand on her head. She peeked up at me and pouted. I'm sorry. She said again. I sigh and rub her head. It's ok. Just don't do that again. Now what were you doing? Amethyst hesitated. Uuhhh don't get mad. . . But I was with Chase and Evan.

. . .

Uh

. . .

Aria? Amethyst asked, hesitantly.

. . .

Are you serious? I asked, my voice a little louder then a whisper.

Yeah. . .

Are. You. SERIOUS?!?!

I yell, looking at her angrily. You ditched me to hang out with guys?!? Amethyst turned over and looked at me, a mixture of embarrassment and dismay. I just went to a stream, and they heard me singing. She insisted, as if it made everything ok. They liked my voice, Aria! They liked it! I can't believe this. I say, shaking my head in disappointment. Haven't you learned from your last heartbreak? And besides, these guys probably aren't even real! And we need to get home! So don't go, falling for people you don't even know! I say, firmly. Amethyst deflated a little and looked down. After a few minutes she nodded glumly. Ok. She said, forlornly. I soften a little bit and put my hand reassuringly on her shoulder. I know I might seem hard sometimes. . . But I only do what's best for you. You know that, right? I say. Amethyst looked at me and smiled. Yeah. . . Yeah I know your just looking out for me. I smile and pull her into a hug. As I feel her arms warp around me I remember the promise I made to myself. The promise to take care of Amethyst. No matter what.

*Flashback*

Ha ha! Oh, stop you big flirt! I swear A, your worse then Cupid!! A girl's laughter echoed through the nearly empty class room and hall. Nearly. Expect for a teenage boy with dark brown eyes and dyed aqua hair flirting with a girl with blue eyes and brown hair. And also, unknown to them, a girl with black hair and dark brown eyes, listening in the hall outside the classroom. That was me. The girl the boy was flirting with was Olive. The boy doing the flirting was my best friend's crush, A.
Oh please. A teased. Cupid wishes he has half the charm I have. Oh A, your such the little charmer! Olive joked. Oh please babe, stop your making me blush. They both laughed. Hey A? Yeah babe? What about that purple hair girl, what's her name? Amethyst? I heard you had a thing for her. That purple head? He scoffed. Please. She's so stupid. All I had to do was play sweet with her, and she's totally all over me. Besides, she won't even let me over to her house unless her mom's there. How can I have any fun if she won't even give me a chance? Tsk. I thought that if I softened her up a bit I could have some fun before I dumped her off to someone else. I had a bunch of graffiti I planned to make, and stick it on her!Whatever, I'm done with her. A said, in a spiteful tone. Olive giggled. Well if it's fun you want. . . I know where some grade schoolers walk home from school. We can see what it takes to make them cry. I couldn't take it anymore. This jerk had the nerve to play with Amethyst's feelings and then insult her? I step into the classroom and glare them. A and Olive looked very surprised. You. I spat at Olive. Get your ass out of here. She opened her mouth to say something. GO! I yell at her, pointing towards the door. She yelped and ran out of the classroom, leaving me and A  alone. I stomp up to him and stare him straight in the eyes. He overcomes his initial shock and smiles at me. Hello Aria! How are you today? He said, trying to play up his fake innocence. Good, how are you? I say, smiling. He looks relived that I seemed to believe his false kindness. I take this opportunity to kick him where the sun don't shine. He sank to the floor and howled in pain. Shut up, you piece of scum. I say, kicking him in the stomach. He groaned in pain but stopped his howling. I stomped my foot on his head. Now listen. I growl at him, grinding my shoe into his head. You will leave Amethyst alone. Tomorrow you will tell her that you fell in love with someone else and that your sorry. Then, you will leave her alone and never approach her again unless you want the police to know who's been graffitiing there station. Are we clear? He groans in pain again. I press my shoe harder into his head. Are we clear? I repeat. Y-yes! I swear! Just please, stop! He cried. I kick him in the gut a few more times before leaving him to his pain.

*Flashback ends*

Ok, that's enough hugging! I say, letting go of her. Tomorrow we have a big day planned! We have to find a way home! So go get into a nightgown ok? Amethyst nodded and leapt up from the bed. She grabbed a spare nightgown that was hanging on the bathroom door and went in. Stupid boys. I think grumpily, pulling back the covers and climbing in. We've only been here, for what? A day? No, not even a day, and two of them have the freaking nerve to be sweet on Amethyst? Well I'm not having it. Even if one of them is a lord, I'm not having it. Geez, Amethyst. . . You just love getting me mad, don't you?

Amethyst walked out of the bathroom wearing the extra nightgown. She crawled into the covers next to me, and snuggled into a pillow. Night Aria! She said. Yeah. . . Good night. I blow out the candle on the dresser, leaving the room in complete darkness aside from the pale moonlight streaming in through the window. After ten minutes Amethyst's breathing slowed and I knew she was asleep. I silently sit up and look at her sleeping outline next to me. Don't worry Amethyst. . . No matter what, I'll take care of you. I think, watching her. I slip out of the bed as quietly as I can and go to the window. The moon was half full tonight and there seemed to be about a million stars in the inky dark sky. After admiring the stars for a bit, I notice some movement below. I look down and see a figure with familiar blond hair. Chase? I squint my eyes to make sure.

It was indeed Chase. He was walking down the road between the houses, and wore a black cloak. What's he doing out? I wonder. I watch him walk out of the village and disappear into the darkness. What was that all about? I think, still staring at the place where he disappeared from, trying to see if he was still there. It was no good. The darkness appeared to have swallowed him. What just happened? Why is he out by himself? He's the lord isn't he? So that means he should have a guard with him if he goes anywhere at night. Unless. . . He doesn't want anyone to know. . . I shake my head. No, I'm sure there's a better explanation than that. But. . . I'm sure Amethyst hasn't noticed, her being so dense when attractive guys are involved, but, Chase has been acting weird towards us all day. Sure, he tries to hide it, and he does hide it pretty well. But me being me. . . Well, I guess I just notice stuff like that more. I look one last time at the darkness and then go back to bed, confusion still muddled in my brain, along with all my unanswered questions.

Wake up! Aria, come on, wake up! Amethyst's voice made me snap awake. I sit up in my bed and look around, blinking to get the sleep out of my eyes. Oh my god. Your wearing a dress. I say, surprised. I rub my eyes and look again to make sure. Amethyst was indeed wearing a dress.

It was cute, and mostly dark blue. It had white material going across the shoulders and the sleeves, along with some white frills on the bottom. She was also wearing black pants and the brown boots from yesterday.

Oh my god, the world is ending! I say, flopping on the bed dramatically. Oh ha ha! Amethyst said, rolling her eyes. Trust me, I'd rather not be wearing a dress, but there aren't a lot of choices for us in the medieval era. I'm lucky I got pants. Oh yeah, I got some pants for you too. But, you'll also have to wear a dress. I groan. Fine, give them to me.

As I exited the bathroom, I fidgeted with the collar of my dress. It was red with frills at the end. The collar also had a red bow around it. I wore pants identical to Amethyst's, so it made it a little better. I also had some leather boots.

Amethyst was looking at a book on the bed. When I came out of the bathroom, she looked up and started laughing. Oh my gosh! Aria, your so cute! She said in between her laughter. Please no. I groan. I hear a knock at the door. Dixie came in and looked at us. Aw, those clothes look great on you guys! She smiled. I'm glad they fit! I haven't been able to wear those in years. Oh. Amethyst looked at her clothes. These where yours? She asked. Dixie nodded. Believe it or not, I was quite the little vixen when I was younger. Dixie said, smiling. Anyway, I hope you girls had a good nights sleep. Yes, thank you. I said, smiling in appreciation.

Yeah, thanks! Amethyst said. Well then, come on! I have breakfast ready. I hope you like pancakes. Dixie said. Yay! Pancakes! I cheer. Yay!!! Amethyst cheered. Dixie laughed. You girls are so funny! Come on then, silly heads, let's get you some pancakes. Amethyst jumped off the bed and followed her. As I trailed behind them, I remember what happened last night. I'll have too have a talk with Chase. I think, looking over at Amethyst. She smiled at me happily, eyes bright. I'll have a talk with him. . . Eventually. I decide, smiling back. But. . .

Will I want to know the answer?
