"We will start training first thing tomorrow, don't be late" Itachi said dragging me out of my thoughts.
"O-oh.. u-um.. yeah ok" I stuttered in reply.
With that he started to walk off, Kisame turned to follow after saying, "Welcome to the Akatsuki kid" with a toothy grin, leaving just me and Sasori standing in the middle of the training grounds.
"Um Sasori-san?" I started to wait for a reply, but he just looked at me waiting for me to continue, making me slightly nervous at his expectant gaze. "Well, I was just wondering where Deidara went" I asked more than stated.
"The brat said something about taking a walk, he can't watch this and then stormed out of the base in a foul mood" he said in his monotone voice as he started to turn around and walk back to the base.
"Oh. Ok thanks". I grabbed my jacket and started to walk around the forest surrounding the base for a bit looking for him, but after a while I just gave up and walked towards the lake and sat down watching the sun set. I heard rustling right behind me and jumped around to see who was there.
"Someone's a little jumpy, but I suppose you would be after fighting someone like Kisame. Heard he won too. Are you all right, un?" said the blonde who I had been searching all day for.
"I'm fine. Why weren't you there?" I asked slightly upset, but glad he didn't see how weak I was.
"I'm sorry I didn't feel like watching you get beaten up, yeah" he replied a little annoyed.
"Hey, I was just asking alright, you don't have to use that tone!" I said raising my voice a little. He just sighed and apolgized. We sat there for a while watching the sunset. After a while, he put his hand in his pouches at his waist and brought out clay that his mouth hand swallowed.. WAIT HIS WHAT? "Your hands" is all I managed to say while staring in shock at them. He looked at me and his face dropped a little, but he tried to not show it as it was replaced quickly with a smirk.
"Yeah, that's how I make my art, un. You aren't scared are ya?" he teased, but I noticed he was a little tense at that question. He was probably thinking I would say yes, but hoping I wouldn't.
"No, I just never thought.." I trailed off still staring in disbelief. How did I not notice them by now?
"Yeah, yeah I know I'm a freak. I already heard it before, un" he finished the sentence for me, looking a little disheartened.
"What? No I wasn't going to say that! I just.. I wasn't expecting someone who looks so normal to have mouth hands" I looked over at him and realized he wasn't sure to take that as a compliment or insult. "What I mean is I was very surprised to see them at first and it took a little while to get my head around them, but I think they are amazing" I smiled as I took the hand that didn't chew up clay in my hand and inspected it. "How do they work? I mean what do they do?" I asked feeling quite stupid, but also very curious. Out of his other hand came a small butterfly that started to flutter about until Deidara made a hand sign and yelled 'Katsu', then the butterfly exploded into an array of different colours. I sat there in awe as I watched the colours start to fade. "Wow.." I whispered without realising I let that slip out, so this must be what he meant by his bombs are his art. I had no idea he had hands that sculpt clay bombs, I thought he was just a normal explosives expert that loved to blow things up. Well I got one thing right he does love to blow things up, but the way he does it makes it seem almost magical. I turned to see a smirking Deidara.
"So, you like it then, un?"
"Like it? I love it!" I said still in awe. "You truly are amazing. So beautiful, yet so special".
"Beautiful, un?" he smirked and I blushed furiously. Damn how'd I let that one slip out.
"I.. You.. I mean.. Just don't get bigheaded, ok!" I snapped.
"Geez I was just playing, calm down, yeah" he chuckled. I punched him playfully and he hissed.
"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry! I forgot you're still in bad condition" I suddenly felt terrible. "Here let me take a look." I pulled up his shirt and frantically started to treat his wounds.
"Hey, it's alright. I'm fine, yeah" he said very calmly.
"It's still best if I treat them, ok?". I was putting cream on his burns, but found myself staring at his ribcage that now protruded out with a thin layer of skin covering them. He was covered in cuts, burns, lashes from where the whip hit him and black and blue bruises. I started to tear up and before I knew it I was crying.
"Wow, what's wrong, un?" Deidara asked looking very concerned. I just shook my head and looked down at all his wounds again still crying. "Look at me, un" he said as he tilted my chin up to make me look him straight in the eyes. "This is not your fault, got it? You saved me, yeah". I nodded my head and then out of nowhere found myself hugging him. He tensed up at first, but slowly relaxed and started to rub my back in a comforting motion. After a while, he pushed me out of the hug and held me at arm's-length, "I was the one beat up, why are you crying? I should be the one in tears, yeah" he smirked at me. I couldn't help, but laugh at him and he rubbed the tears away from my face. "I don't ever want to hear you cry again. I love your laugh, I want to hear it far more from now on, yeah" he smiled. I blushed and nodded.
I sat back down beside him when I realized I had no idea where I was going to sleep tonight, I mean Sasori is going to want his room back. "Um, Dei?"
"Hm?"
"Where am I going to sleep tonight?"
"Well, we are don't have many rooms and since you are a subordinate of Danna's and I you can choose who you want to share a room with, but because I brought you here Danna will probably make you stay in my room as he likes peace and quiet"
"I don't think that's such a good idea" I stated looking down.
"Oh, well if you really want to stay with Danna I can always try to convince him, un", he sounded a little disappointed.
"No that's not what I meant. It's just I don't sleep well and have some terrible dreams at night and I just don't want to wake you up in the middle of the night"
"Na, don't worry about it. Sasori no Danna already told me about what happened last night. Can I just ask though, how'd you get off the streets, un?"
I felt ashamed that Deidara knew how weak I was back then and I just couldn't look him in the eyes. "The third Hokage helped me and gave me a home and food, I ended up living beside a blonde boy named Naruto who the Hokage had also helped, he was like family to me. I was so weak back then, I never want to be like that again"
"There's no need to be ashamed, you were just a kid and obviously a stubborn one at that! You survived two weeks on the street without any food, that's strength, un"
"Thanks" I replied.
"Come on it's getting late we should head back especially if you have training with Itachi, he always gets up at the break of dawn" he almost spat Itachi's name out. I laughed as I realized by how he was acting that he must hate Itachi. "What's so funny, un?"
"Why do you hate Itachi so much?" I asked.
"It's that obvious, huh?" I nodded with a giggle. "He is just so unemotional, his face never changes and he always looks down on me and my art! The thing that annoys me the most are those damn eyes of his, they are despicable and not even worth calling art, un"
"So you're jealous?" I teased. He just glared at me and I started to laugh nervously. "Sorry"
"It's fine, let's just hurry back, un" he sighed. On the way back my legs gave up on me and my stomach wound started to ache, I fell to the ground and grunted in pain. "Hey, are you ok? That bastard Kisame didn't hurt you, did he?" He asked as he ran over to help me up.
"No, I'm fine. I'm just exhausted and.." I trailed off when I noticed blood running down my hands from my arms. "Dammit, I forgot about those. No wonder I'm so tired" I murmured to myself. Deidara looked at the blood and immediately took off my jacket to see where the blood was coming from, his eyes widened in shock and he looked horrified at the two gashes that were now bleeding non stop, but his facial expression quickly turned into one of anger.
"He did this to you?" he said through gritted teeth.
"Yeah, but it's my fault it has gotten so bad. I forgot completely all about them. I guess the wound in my stomach hurts more" I smiled at him, but he just started to roll his hands into fists. "Hey, would you mind if I borrowed some chakra, I'm all out"
"Borrow some chakra?" he suddenly looked very confused and I giggled.
"Yeah, I can borrow or give chakra from or to whomever I please. However, if I do take some from you, you may get very tired because of how fast it was drained from you, but it should wear off after about five minutes or so" he just smiled and nodded. I lay my hands on his and started to drain him of chakra, but I stopped when I had a sufficient amount. I then went to heal the gashes in my arms. I hate trying to heal my own arms they are always the hardest for me to heal. Eventually the gashes turned into small cuts and I stopped before running completely out of chakra. I started to stand up, but quickly lost my balance only to be caught be Deidara who then proceeded to wrap his strong arms around me and carry me bridal style.
"You should be more careful. I'll carry you the rest of the way, un". I hated the idea, but knew he was right and that I was in no condition to fight back, so I just nodded in reply.
