Chapter 7
Raina looked expectedly to Shadow, "Stalker of shadows?" She hissed, her eyes narrowing, "Shadowstalker? Funny coincidence, eh? Or are you plotting revenge?" She saw a pang of sadness flash over his eyes.
"I'm not this 'stalker of shadows' I'm not planning revenge." Shadow said, his voice seemed to falter as Sandstone, Waves, and Raina all growled, Storm looked confused.
"This NightWing can't be trusted." Sandstone hissed, her voice was now all weird and her face was half melted and disgusting.
"I-I promise you...I'm not a 'stalker of shadows'" The NightWing dragonet stammered, his eyes fearfully watching the SandWing Princess.
"But Your name is Shadowstalker. We all know NightWing names are very specific." Storm half-growled-half-hissed, that was a first. Raina had never seen the SeaWing Princess as anything but a cheery, talkative bundle of energy and enthusiasm.
"That doesn't mean he's seeking revenge." The adult dragon in the center of the clearing hissed, "What would a three year old dragonet seek revenge for?" They hissed.
"Deathwatcher?" Shadowstalker gasped, his eyes wide with fear.
The unknown dragon was a large NightWing, her dark black eyes were fixed on Shadowstalker. She let out a low, deep hiss, "It is I," She bent down to the dragonets level, "You're lousy little dragonets, except the SandWing of course." Rains gasped at her words.
"Deathwatcher? Whose that?" Storm blurted, earning a death glare from Shadow.
"Shut up!" Shadow hissed, clawing at the SeaWing Princess.
"Exactly what I was going to say." The huge NightWing, Deathwatcher growled, staring at Storm.
"She's the one who delivered the prophecy." Sandstone hissed towards Shadow, her melted face earning her disgusted glares from Deathwatcher.
"Yes I am." The female NightWing hissed, glaring at the dragonets and Sandstone (Sandstone is 8 so she's a full grown dragon.)
"This idiot of a RainWing Princess melted my face off." Sandstone hissed, flicking her tail towards Raina.
Deathwatcher bent down to face Raina, her cold glare making the dragonet shiver. "You are very determined, young RainWing. Trust me. Family is not everything. I lost mine at a young age." The full grown dragon hissed at her.
"My family obviously doesn't care." Raina hissed, flicking her tail at Sandstone.
"I care! I care about both of you! We'll be best friends soon! Don't you worry!" Waves bounced up to them, the pearls she was wearing were shining pearly white in the evening sky.
"What if I don't want to be friends with lousy dragonets with no purpose?" Sandstone hissed at Raina, her black eyes glittering evilly.
"Then you don't have to. They are absolutely worthless to you. You however are the definite heir to the throne of the sand." A voice hissed from the darkness.
"Who are you?" Sandstone yelped, spinning around to see who was responding to her question.
"I am your worst nightmare." The voice hissed as a blood red SkyWing leapt out of the forest, his yellow eyes gleaming with ferociousness.
"Who might you be?" Deathwatcher hissed, looking down at the new comer.
"Names Kaio, most loyal warrior in the entire Sky kingdom. I am here to end this prophecy, Queen Flare's orders." The SkyWing hissed, glowering at Raina, Waves, and Sandstone.
"Tell Queen Flare that nobody cares about SkyWings. Nobody has for at least a thousand years." Sandstone hissed at the male SkyWing in front of her.
"It's RainWings no one cares about, they haven't for at least seven thousand years." Kaio hissed under his breath, as if Raina wouldn't hear him.
"Oh yeah, remember that legend. A RainWing replaced a SkyWing and was better than a SkyWing. Raina here is related to that RainWing." Shadow hissed defensively.
Raina thought for a moment, remembering her mother saying she was distantly related to a legendary RainWing queen, the queen who brought ferocity to her tribe. Raina gasped, didn't that mean she was part NightWing? Even if it was distantly, Raina was definitely part NightWing. It never showed of course, it was too distant to come through and perhaps the NightWing genes had been dropped long before she was hatched.
"Eh. Royalty or not. RainWings are no better than lizards." Sandstone suddenly got defensive for some odd reason, did Sandstone love lizards so much she couldn't dare have them compared to lousy RainWings.
"Lizards are disgusting, I agree with you. But Raina has more potential than it seems." Raina was taken aback by his comment, Shadow thought she had potential? Her own grandmother didn't even see potential in her.
"How old are you?" Kaio growled at Raina, who jumped back in surprise.
"My third hatching day is tomorrow." Raina gulped, tomorrow, would Rosebud come after her? If she did, would Jewels try to stop her from killing her beloved daughter?
She felt Shadow lean against her as she closed her eyes. "It's going to be alright." He whispered softly in her ear.
