Raina was sitting in the RainWing throne room, her mother had left to gather fruit for Queen Rosebud. The Queen was seated on the throne, her flower crown neatly placed on her head, she looked at Raina.

"I'm really disappointed in your mother. She's the heir to my throne, your her heir. She could at least have more children." Rosebud said, twirling a flower necklace in her talons.

"That's what you have like thirty something daughters for." Raina grumbled, "I would be a terrible queen." She added quickly.

"You'd cause a war between us and the SeaWings, they think your the heir to their throne." Raina rolled her eyes, Rosebud told her this every single day, at dinner 'Raina's the heir to our throne, not the SeaWings' during council meetings, 'Raina's not a SeaWing Princess.' Honestly Raina didn't care, Jewels had an unlimited amount of sisters that could take the throne, it wasn't like Raina was the only option once Jewels did become queen.

"I don't care about being queen, I care about not starting a war. I care about being a normal RainWing dragonet, not heir to the throne." Raina growled, earning a glare from the queen.

"Your third hatching day is in a few days, I've decided to take you to the NightWing village." Rosebud stuck her nose into the air elegantly.

Raina rolled her eyes, "I've heard the NightWings hate you." She muttered under her breath, "hate having a RainWing Queen." She added, Rosebud glaring back at her.

"Follow me Princess." Rosebud flicked her nose with her prehensile tail. Raina reluctantly followed her. They walked past many RainWings who stared at her, Raina realized she was a lot stalkier than most dragonets her age, RainWings had lithe bodies, they were in general a lot more pretty than Raina was. Raina had broad shoulders, larger, webbed talons, and of course, a SeaWing tail. One good thing about being a hybrid was that she could see in the dark, which would be useful for finding things in undergrowth.

"Queen Rosebud? Why am I the one you want to rule the Rainforest someday?" Raina asked, looking sideways at the larger dragon.

"I don't want you to take my throne. Not now. Not even in a hundred years." The queens voice came out in in a low snarl, something she'd only heard herself do, "your mother wants you to be heir, I want my non-hybrid daughters to take over."

Raina sighed, she sighed a lot for a two year old Dragonet. "Does mothers opinion matter? Does it grandmother? Does mother's opinion even make sense? I would be a horrible ruler. I'm already turning out to be a horrible dragonet."

"Your mother's opinion is stupid, but I have to take into careful consideration what she wants. If I didn't, you'd be dead from the moment your mother brought your egg to the Rainforest." Rosebud growled, well it seemed like a growl, Raina's tribe didn't really growl very much. "Your mother isn't my smartest daughter." It sounded like Rosebud was sighing, Raina was the only RainWing she knew who actually sighed.

They both stopped in front of a large NightWing, or at least Raina thought she was a NightWing.

"Soul. It's me. Your queen." Rosebud looked queenly down at the black dragon, who immediately dropped into a bow before both the queen and Raina.

"Queen Rosebud. Princess...I've never seen you before. Have I?" The NightWing, Rosebud had called her Soul, studied her.

"Princess Raina. And of course you've never seen her. She's the one the SeaWings are after." Raina snorted as the queen introduced her. "Where's your dragonet?" She asked.

"Shadowstalker? Oh. He's back at my hut. I presume you have important matters to tell me." Soul said, raising her snout.

"Ah. Yes I do, Raina, this is Soulcrusher, the leader of the NightWing camp." Rosebud flicked her tail at the female NightWing as they walked.

"So...she rules the NightWings when your too busy with RainWing stuff?" Raina asked fluttering her wings to keep up with the adult dragons.

"Yes. She has a dragonet as well, he's about a year older than you." Rosebud said, looking over at Soul.

"Shadowstalker! Come meet the RainWing Princess!" Soul called into an odd shaped hut. A small male NightWing fluttered out, he was eating an odd looking fruit Raina had never seen.

"Another Princess? Wow. You look like a SeaWing." The dragonet bowed before Raina. She studied him closer, he was a black dragon, Raina guessed he wasn't a mind reader, he had yellow eyes, he was no bigger than she was.

"I'm a RainWing SeaWing hybrid." Raina blurted out, earning a glare from Queen Rosebud.

"Cool! Okay, I've met a RainWing NightWing hybrid, but a SeaWing! I've never met one of those!" Raina winced as he bounced up and down, very excited.

"I'm Raina." She said, looking questioningly at the NightWing dragonet.

"I'm Shadowstalker, you can call me Shadow." The dragonet piped.

"You two stay out here. Soulcrusher and I have important matters to discuss." Rosebud flicked her tail dismissively.

The two adult dragons went into the hut. Raina looked at Shadow.

"We should listen in." The NightWing whispered, his face lighting up as Raina nodded. The two dragonets put their ears to the door.

"I need your help with something." That was definitely Queen Rosebud hissing.

"Clam down Rosebud. What do you need?" Soulcrusher's voice was a lot calmer.

"It's Queen Rosebud to you. It has to do with my granddaughter, her hatching day is in a few days. I need your help to get rid of her." Rosebud growled, Raina's heart was pounding in her chest loud enough she thought Shadow could here it. Get rid of me? They can't do that.

"Who's your Granddaughter?" Soulcrusher asked. Raina knee what her grandmother was going to say.

"Raina. I need your help getting rid of her. So Jewels will never challenge me." Rosebud hissed, Raina looked over at Shadow who was staring at her wide eyed.

"Kill you?" Shadow whispered, his face immediately falling as she nodded.

"I need to get out of here." Raina spread her wings out.

"I'm coming with you." Shadow hissed, his eyes narrowed.
