2| Falsify Myself

She didn't know why it had gone wrong. One moment Sakura was guarding Tazuna on the bridge, and the next was a blurry memory of Zabuza in front of Sakura, his massive sword slicing across the girls body from her right shoulder to her left hip.
It was... Strange to watch the scene from Sakura's memory, to be in such a deadly moment yet not feel a thing.
It was a change in the predetermined scenario. Where originally Sakura did not receive any fatal damage, in this new world the girl gained a scar marring across her body.
Was this a affect of the body switch? She assumed so. There was no other explanation other than AU, but going through the monotonous memories of the previous owner of this body, she found no differences to conflict with the timeline.
At least, nothing she could be made aware of by the memories of a child's life before it had been cleaved apart and taken over.
You would think after analyzing all she could of Sakura, she would feel a... Connection of sorts. A merge of souls, perhaps even convince herself she was some young pink girl, who worried about love and her life. Things no child worries about, things no child should worry about and yet...  It was there. Those moments of wisdom and pain which chip away at ones mentality.
Those were the memories of a child who grew in the wrong environment, chose the wrong place to be. She was not made for violence, for the physical aspect. A girl who had no place in that world of endless death.
So yes, perhaps she did feel something for this small girl. She respects Sakura. Definitely thinks her reckless, but she respects her tenacity to continue for the sake of love. To bare her back to the cruelty one must face to rise in a Shinobi school and to shine above others who had more training, more knowledge, more connections.
It demanded respect, no matter how childish Sakura may have been, she had put the effort in to be where she was now.
And that effort? It would be disrespectful to let it go to waste. To let that child's life be meaningless. She decided in this moment something difficult. She would continue on as a ninja for the girl she had replaced.
Of course, she could never be Sakura. She would try of course, but one could never fully replicate another. It's too complex, too many variables to take in account. The connections, the tells, the feelings.
No, she would never be able to manage it. Let it be trauma that covers her tracks, to disguise the falsities until they become a reality.
