Chapter 8
Next day morning
Khushi opened her eyes lazily. She was still feeling sleepy. Opening her eyes, she saw Arnav lying beside her on recliner. She was partially lying over him. His one hand held her hand. Other was wrapped around her tummy unknowingly holding their little ones protectively.
Khushi kept looking at him as it took a few minutes for her mind to register the situation. Immediately she jumped out of the recliner away from him. But the sudden jump made her feel dizzy and nauseous. She ran to the washroom and started retching. Arnav woke up hearing the sound.
Realising that the sound is coming from the washroom. He ran inside and saw Khushi kneeling near the commode and vomiting. He immediately reached near her. Holding her hair away from her face, he slowly started rubbing her back as she emptied her stomach.
After vomiting, Khushi was tired. She slumped against a worried Arnav. Arnav held her as she regularised her breath and regained her composure. After that, Khushi pulled herself out of Arnav's arms and started brushing her teeth. Arnav kept looking at her as she brushed and washed her face.
Then Khushi came out to take her clothes for the day, totally ignoring Arnav. Arnav followed her with worry. He saw her again going to the bathroom with the clothes. He also followed her. When Khushi saw him entering the bathroom again following her, she stopped him at the door by holding her hands.
"Where do you think you are going?" Khushi asked him with an annoyed look.
"Khushi, are you alright? You were vomiting and feeling dizzy just few minutes back. Are you feeling well. Do you want to go to doctor. Why am I asking you. You get ready I will take you to the doctor?" Saying that Arnav started going to take his clothes to get ready.
Hearing his concern filled voice, a lot of things started coming in Khushi's mind. Unknown to Arnav, her eyes moistened. Soon, she composed herself and said in a passive voice. "I am alright. You don't have to worry about me unnecessarily. Go and take care of your dear Sheetal's comforts."
"Khushi..." Arnav called in anguish. He shook his head helplessly. Then he again started going inside.
"What are you doing? Why are you coming inside again and again? I have to get ready." Khushi asked frowning.
"Khushi, you were feeling dizzy few minutes back. What if you feel dizzy again or worse got unconscious. I will help you today in getting ready." Arnav said worried.
"What???" Khushi shouted in shock. "What nonsense are you saying? How can you come inside like that?" Khushi asked bewildered.
"Come on, Khushi. Why are you screaming like this. I am your husband. It is not like there is something that I haven't seen before. Come, let me help you." Arnav said smirking.
Khushi's eyes widened hearing that. Her jaws dropped. "Haw... you... you... Get out." Khushi said in irritation.
"Come on, Khushi. Why are you shying like a newly wed bride. If I had my way, then by now we will already be expecting our little Khushi. Don't worry we can still try." Arnav said smirking.
"Huh." Khushi looked at him confused. Her hand unconsciously went to her tummy. But she was completely clueless now. What is he talking. Why is he behaving like he doesn't know about the babies. Didn't he read the divorce notice. Doesn't he know about my pregnancy. Khushi was lost in thoughts.
"So what do you think, Khushi? Shall we start the process." Arnav asked enjoying teasing her.
"For what?" Khushi asked confused.
"Shall we start the process of bringing a little Khushi? Trust me I will not disappoint you." Arnav whispered in her ears in a husky voice.
Khushi's eyes widened hearing that. She gulped nervously. "What the... You... Get out..." Khushi started pushing Arnav out who teasingly tried to go inside.
Then finally pushing him out, Khushi closed the door on his face. Arnav laughed enjoying her flushed form. Then he remembered about his offer. A little Khushi. The thought itself send chills down his spine. Damn, he can't wait to have his little one with Khushi.
He laid on the bed dreaming about their baby. After sometime Khushi came out of the bathroom getting fresh and in office clothes. She started getting ready. Arnav frowned seeing that.
"Khushi, where are you going?" Arnav asked with confused face.
Khushi looked at him incredulously. "Did you hit your head somewhere. Usually, at this time people get ready to go to office, which I can see, you are not doing. Whatever. You might be free to do idiotic things. But I am busy. I have an important meeting to attend today." Khushi said nonchalantly and started getting ready.
"Khushi, you were not feeling well earlier. Don't you think you have to stay at home and rest for today. Today is saturday. Even I can take leave. We can spend some time together. Maybe work on bringing a little Khushi." Arnav said the last part in a husky voice in her ears.
He hugged her from behind and nuzzled her neck. Khushi froze in her place. Something crossed her mind. Her breathing laboured. She started struggling in Arnav's arms. Sensing her struggle, Arnav loosened his grip. Using that, Khushi pushed him away and turned to him with red, teary eyes.
Arnav was shocked and worried seeing her change in demeanor. He came forward to hug her. Khushi took one step back and showed her hand to stop him.
"Don't. Don't come near me. I am not a whore." Khushi said with shaky breath. "I am not a whore. I am not a whore. I am not a whore." Khushi kept chanting that. Her breathing laboured. She was shivering.
Arnav was shocked seeing her like that. "Khushi, what are you say...." Arnav started to say but stopped remembering something. His eyes widened. He gulped painfully.
Then he noticed Khushi chanting that again and again. She was hyperventilating and her eyes were unfocused. Arnav was scared seeing her like that. He immediately ran to get water for her. Making her drink some water, he rubbed her back trying to calm her down.
After sometime, Khushi became fine. Arnav sighed in relief.
"Khushi... Khushi, I... I am sorry. That day..." Arnav stammered trying to apologise. But Khushi stopped him showing her hand.
"Stop. Don't. I don't want to hear anything. Actually Tell me one thing. Did you read the entire Divorce petition?" Khushi asked curiously. With him repeatedly talking about planning for a baby, she doubted whether he read the entire divorce petition or not. Didn't he know about her pregnancy. She was confused.
"Why are you talking about that thing now?" Arnav asked irritated. Here he was worried about her and she keeps talking about that stupid divorce petition. He hates thinking or talking about that. It hurts him every time thinking that Khushi wants to go away from him. He feels like someone is cutting his heart to pieces.
"I asked did you read it fully or not?" Khushi asked annoyed. She was at the end of her wits because of this man's arrogance.
"No. And I am not going to touch that wretched thing again ever." Arnav said in disgust.
Khushi shook her head at him hopelessly. "You better go and read that thing fully. It's better for you." Khushi said indirectly showing him a way so that he finds about her pregnancy.
"No thanks. I have no interest in reading that despicable thing again." Arnav said stubbornly.
"Fine. Then do whatever you want." Khushi said annoyed. She was tired of his high handedness. Let him rot in hell. She is not going to tell him about her pregnancy.
Ignoring him, Khushi started getting ready for office. Feeling hopeless, Arnav too went to get ready for office. After getting ready, she went down to go to office. But reaching the living room, she saw Arav throwing his usual tantrums and shouting at poor HP.
She was going to give him an earful. Just then she saw Mami coming and consoling Arav. She rolled her eyes at the drama. She looked at HP sympathetically. HP gave her a small reassuring smile saying that he is OK and went to do his work. Khushi sighed seeing Mami pampering Arav and left from there.
After few minutes, Arnav came out of washroom getting fresh. He looked around for Khushi but didn't find her anywhere. Thinking that she might be downstairs. He started getting ready. After getting ready, he came down and saw everyone at the dining table silently having their breakfast. But Khushi was nowhere to be seen.
He saw Sheetal running around trying to get Arav ready for school. He silently came and sat on the dining table. He expectantly looked towards kitchen hoping Khushi to come out. After few minutes, Payal and HP came out with dishes and started serving everyone.
"Payal, you sit with us and have breakfast. Also call Khushi. HP will serve." Arnav said seriously. Nobody said anything.
Payal looked at Arnav with confusion. "Arnavji, Khushi is not here. She is in your room, no?" Payal asked confused.
"No. She is not there. I just came from room. She was not there. Isn't she in kitchen." Arnav said with surprise.
Payal shook her head. "No. I didn't see her today."
"Then where is she?" Arnav asked looking at everyone.
All shook their heads saying that they didn't see her.
"Maybe she is still in room. You might have not noticed." Anjali said softly.
"I will go and see then." Arnav got up to go look for Khushi.
"Khushi Bhabhi already left for office." HP said softly looking down.
"When? I was here from morningwa. I didn't see her." Mami said frowning.
"When you were consoling Arav, then Khushi Bhabhi left. You didn't see because you were busy with Arav." HP said expressionless.
Arnav's face went rigid hearing that. Mami flushed hearing that. All looked at Mami shocked. NK, Akash and Payal had a disappointed look. Anjali was lost in her thoughts. Nani sighed tired and helpless. She didn't know how to handle her daughter in law anymore. With each passing day, she is getting worse and worse.
Arnav gritted his teeth in anger. He unknowingly clenched his hand around the water glass causing it to break. All were shocked seeing that. Everyone started panicking seeing blood flowing out of his hand. Anjali asked HP to bring first aid box. Everyone surrounded him in worry.
But Arnav was sitting silently looking down. HP brought the first aid box. Taking it, Anjali started cleaning his wound and bandaged it. Mami started feeling guilty.
"Arnav Bitwa, I...." Mami started to apologise. But cutting her, Arnav shouted Sheetal's name. Sheetal came forward startled.
"Yes, Arnav." Sheetal said completely clueless why he called her all of a sudden.
"Sheetal, did you pack your and your son's things?" Arnav asked sternly.
"Huh?" Sheetal looked at him shocked.
" I asked 'did you pack your and your son's things?' By today evening, your new accommodation will be ready. I want you and your son to be ready to move by today evening." Arnav said sternly.
Sheetal looked at him bewildered. She couldn't believe Arnav was throwing her out so soon. When he talked about her leaving, she thought he was saying just like that because of the divorce matter. He will leave the matter by next day or she will have a few days to plan something to stay here.
She never thought Arnav would ask her to leave so suddenly. Now what will she do. If it goes like this, her entire plan will be ruined. No. She can't let it happen. She sighed in frustration.
From morning, she is having a bad day. Don't know what happened to all Raizadas suddenly. All are behaving strange. Guess yesterday's confrontation with Khushi and Arnav had a big impact on them. From morning, everyone was in a different mood altogether. All are silent. And the biggest shock is that nobody is fussing over Arav. Not even Anjali.
Usually Anjali and Raizadas take care of Arav's morning chores and gets him ready for school. But today nobody came to get him ready. Not even Anjali gave him a glance. All were either lost in their thoughts and silently doing their routine work.
Only Mami came to talk to Arav for sometime in the morning. She asked Arav for choices in breakfast. After instructing HP to make what he wants, she too left. And didn't help in getting him ready. From morning, she is running around trying to get Arav ready and tend to his needs.
She was already worried seeing the change in Raizada's demeanor. Now Arnav dropped new bomb on her that she has to leave the house by evening. She doesn't know how to handle this situation. Suddenly everything seems to go southward. All her plans seems to be failing. Sheetal thought worried.
"Sheetal. Sheetal!! SHEETAL!!!" Arnav shouted her name in frustration.
"Huh." Sheetal looked at him confused.
"Did you hear what I said. I want you and your son ready to leave this house by evening. Pack your bags and get everything ready to move. If you need any help, HP will do. By evening I want you both ready to leave. Am I clear?" Arnav said angrily.
Sheetal looked at him shocked.
"Am I clear?" Arnav shouted.
Scared, Sheetal nodded her head. She went to complete her work. Sighing, Arnav immediately finished his breakfast and immediately left ignoring everyone.
***************
Same day, evening 7pm
Today, Khushi came home early as she was feeling very weak and tired. She already had some light dinner. She just wants to get to bed and sleep. But when has she ever got peace in Shantivan. Today too it was same.
Entering inside, she saw the melodrama happening. Sheetal and Arav standing in the middle of the living room with their bags and the entire Raizada clan surrounding them, to bid them bye.
The Raizada ladies were crying, men had sad looks. Arnav stood away frowning at everything. Aman and HP also stood at two corners looking at everything with impassive expression. Khushi rolled her eyes seeing the drama.
Khushi noticed Arnav gesturing Aman to come closer. She watched them curiously.
"Aman, did you see the house and the neighbourhood. It's comfortable, right? There is no problem, no? I don't want Sheetal to come complaining about anything. You checked everything perfectly, right?" Arnav asked with annoyance. He just wants to get rid of this woman and not want her to come back.
"Yes, ASR. I checked everything perfectly. I even saw the house. The house is a 3BKH apartment with every amenities. The neighbourhood is also good and in an elite area. The house owner is a 50 plus years old ex-military man. Respectable, honest, decent, with good reputation. He and his wife lives nearby. Their children are settled in abroad. They live in their new house. So has decided to give their old house on rent. Everything is good." Aman said politely.
"Good. I don't want any trouble because of this matter. And I definitely don't want Sheetal cribbing that the house is not upto the mark. Make sure they have everything they needed available." Arnav said rolling his eyes.
"OK, ASR." Aman nodded fully ready to follow his boss's orders.
Khushi sighed hearing that. She was not bothered about all this. The mother son duo can go to hell for all she care. It doesn't affect her. She silently started going to her room. But just then Arav noticed her. He ran and stood in front of her, blocking her path. Khushi frowned at him. Arav was glaring at her angrily.
"It's all because of you!" Arav shouted at Khushi angrily. "It's all because of you. Because of you we have to leave this house. Because of you ASR is throwing us out. You are such a bad person. You always hurt everyone. I know about you. You are a witch. I have heard everyone talking. First you killed your parents, then because of you, your Dad got hurt, you killed Anjali Aunty's baby, you hurt her so much, now you are hurting Mom and me. You want to separate ASR from all of us, right?
"You're a very bad person. Why are you living? Why don't you die? You should die. You are a witch. You should die, You should die. You should...." Arav got cut off and a loud sound of slap echoed in Shantivan living room. Next second, Arav fell on the floor clutching his left cheek which had five hot finger marks.
All saw with shocked eyes, Khushi slapping Arav mercilessly, without even blinking an eye. Arav looked at Khushi scared and started crying. It took a few minutes for Raizadas and Sheetal to come out of their shock. Sheetal immediately ran to Arav. Gathering him in her arms, she hugged him tightly.
Raizadas also tried to console Arav. Khushi glared at Sheetal and Arav. Arav hid himself behind his mother being scared. Sheetal was frustrated and angry. She never thought Khushi would raise hand on a child. She wanted to hurt Khushi as revenge before leaving. So she asked Arav to say all this. But she never thought Khushi would slap Arav. She was angry seeing that.
"Khushi, how can you do something like this. Arav is a child. How can you raise hand on him?" Sheetal asked angrily.
Khushi glared at her in pure rage. But before she could say something, Arnav beat her to it.
"First, teach your son some manners. Then give others lecture. What nonsense was he sprouting? How dare he talk to Khushi like that? Be happy that Khushi only gave him a small slap. I feel like slapping the shit out of him. Now get the hell out of here before I loose my cool and decide to teach him some manners myself. Trust me, your son won't be able to take it. So you better leave with him before that." Arnav said angrily.
"Arnav, he is just a child. He doesn't have father, so he is little short tempered..." Sheetal tried to gain sympathy.
But the Raizadas were nonchalant. Arnav looked at her with disgust. "Is it our fault that he doesn't have a father. That's your problem, Sheetal. When you decided to have him without a father, then you should have been prepared to take care of him without a father. Not having a father doesn't give a license to misbehave. Look at him, he doesn't even have slight remorse. It's better you leave, Sheetal, before I loose my cool." Arnav said gritting his teeth.
Sheetal looked down feeling ashamed and annoyed. She looked at Raizadas hoping they will help. But all stood silently. They knew Arav crossed his limits. And they couldn't support him in this. Frustrated, Sheetal started moving out with Arav.
"Stop." Khushi said suddenly. All looked at her confused. Khushi came in front of Sheetal and looked at her calmly. Sheetal frowned seeing that. But next second, her eyes widened as she felt her cheeks burning.
"Khushi, you..." Sheetal started angrily but cutting her Khushi slapped her again.
"I know whatever Arav said today. It's not his words, but yours. It's from you, he learned all this. So don't you dare speak such nonsense about me again. Otherwise it will not be good for you. Got it? Now leave from here." Khushi asked angrily.
Sheetal looked at her scared and started leaving holding Arav who was still scared. HP took their bags and followed them. Aman too left from there, bidding bye to Raizadas, to take the mother son duo to their new house. Sighing, Khushi went upstairs to Arnav's room.
Raizadas had an early dinner and soon everyone left to their rooms to sleep.
