Chapter 23

As soon as the court dispersed, Khushi walked out of the court silently. Payal tried to follow her but Khushi didn't pay attention to her and walked out hastily. Gayathri also came to talk to her but saw Khushi leaving the court premises hurriedly. She wanted to talk to Khushi.

Before Gayathri could stop her, Khushi hailed an auto and left from there. Gayathri went to her car and tried to follow the auto. But after sometime she lost the auto in the traffic. Seeing that the auto went in opposite direction of Raizada Mansion, Gayathri tried to think of a place Khushi could go to but nothing came to her mind.

She thought that Khushi would anyways go back to RM after sometime. So she will go and meet Khushi in RM itself. Meanwhile she had to meet Dr Arjun Chakraborthy. She left to the hospital he worked in.

Khushi knew that Arjun had an off on that day, so she decided to go to his house and talk to him. She wanted to tell him about the case and also tell him about the panick attack she had in court. She called him before going to his home. But Arjun told her that he was out due to some work.

Khushi told him about the events in the court. Arjun was shocked knowing that his notes were presented in court. He asked her to go home and assured her that he would talk to her as he has some matters to take care of. After reaching the hospital, Gayathri was disappointed knowing that Arjun was on off that day. She decided to go to RM and wait for Khushi.

Meanwhile on Raizada's side, the scene was entirely different. Arnav was fuming in anger at Mr Roy. He just felt like murdering Mr Roy for the distress he caused Khushi. As soon as, the case ended, Arnav approached Mr Roy like a ferocious lion. Mr Roy gulped looking at a furious Arnav.

"I want to talk to you. Come to Raizada Mansion with me." Arnav said angrily in no nonsense tone.

Mr Roy nodded agreeing and followed Arnav. Soon all the Raizadas left court and reached Raizada Mansion. Arnav and Mr Roy entered the house followed by rest of the Raizadas.

Arnav pounced on Mr Roy and held his collars as soon as they entered the Mansion. "What the hell. How dare you, huh? How dare you Mr Roy to call my wife insane and mentally unstable. Who the hell gave you rights to talk about my wife like that?" He shouted angrily.

Mr Roy was shocked by Arnav's outburst. Then calmed himself thinking that Arnav was only worried for Khushi. "Arnav, calm down." Mr Roy said calmly trying to make Arnav leave his hold on the collars.

"Mr Roy, you..." Arnav was beyond furious. He left Mr Roy's collars. Then taking a show piece kept nearby, smashed it on the floor screaming angrily.

"Arnav calm down and listen to me once. OK." Mr Roy said trying to console Arnav.

"Shut up. Just shut up. I don't want to hear anything. How can you do something like this. How can you say about my Khushi like that. You called her insane and mentally harassed her in the court. You caused her to have a panic attack." Arnav shouted angrily.

"Arnav, I... I was just trying to help you with the case. This was the only way to stop this divorce and save you all." Mr Roy said with guilt.

"So, to win this case, you called my wife mental in front of everyone and harassed her. Why did you do that, Mr Roy? I trusted you and you did something so horrible to my wife. You fabricated documents to prove my wife mental." Arnav thundered.

"No Arnav. I didn't fabricate any documents. Those documents were real. Khushi actually has depression and is on treatment." Mr Roy said desperately trying to defend himself.

"What???" Arnav asked shocked. "Khushi has depression?"

"Yes. She has depression and is undergoing treatment. Dr Arjun Chakraborthy is her psychiatrist. All this is true." Mr Roy said nodding his head.

"How do you know this?" Arnav asked frowning. He was still not ready to believe Mr Roy. No. His Khushi is not depressed. That's impossible. She is a strong person. She would never be depressed and try to commit suicide. He said mentally to console himself.

Mr Roy sighed hearing that. Why is it difficult for people to believe in this matter. Guess he has to explain everything in detail. "I was not sure about it in the beginning. I had a hunch that something like this is there. Before the court case, I had only met Khushi couple of times in AR. But that was long back. That time, she was working for you. I remember how she was a strong, fearless, and free spirited person.

"But when I saw her in court during our first hearing, I couldn't even recognize her. She was so changed. Her face was pale, she had dark circles, looked tired and weak. Even if she was having some medical issues, that didn't really justified her behaviour.

"She was too silent and emotionally wrecked. These were symptoms of depression. I wasn't sure about it. But I had my doubts then. After that when I saw the video submitted on court that day, my suspicions increased. Khushi had a panick attack after Anjali shouted at her. It could be clearly seen in that video how she was trembling, her laboured breaths, unfocused eyes. Then she slowly recovered from it by doing some breathing exercises.

"These breathing exercises are usually prescribed by doctors to cope up with anxiety attacks. Those things made me realize that something was wrong. I tried digging about Khushi's activities and started following her. Few days back, I found out that she was under treatment of Dr Arjun. I approached Dr Arjun seeking help for the case.

"But he refused to give me any details regarding Khushi's condition or illness, citing patient doctor confidentiality. I also tried to convince him saying that I will bring you to collect the details as you are her husband. He could discuss Khushi's case with her immediate family. But he refused for that also. He strictly told that he will not discuss anything regarding Khushi's condition to anyone other than Khushi herself.

"I tried a lot to convince him but he didn't relent. Finally without any choice, I bribed a nurse working for Dr Arjun and made her take pictures of the case file. But she couldn't get her hands on much. Only the diagnosis part which I submitted in court today. Trust me, Arnav. None of them were fabricated. It was all true.

"Yeah, it admit that I have no idea about Khushi's present mental condition or if she is cured. I also didn't knew whether she applied for divorce before or after getting cured. I thought if this depression matter could be proved in court, then we can quash this divorce case. That's why I brought this matter to court. But seems like it backfired." Mr Roy said everything elaborately.

Arnav was shocked to know that Khushi actually had/has depression and she actually tried to commit suicide 3 times. He felt dizzy thinking that. And the fact that Khushi was going through so much and he had no idea about it, agitated him more.

"When did you came to know about this matter? Why didn't you tell me about this matter? Didn't you felt it necessary to discuss with me before bringing it in front of court?" Arnav asked angrily.

Mr Roy was furious hearing that. He was frustrated by Arnav's behaviour.

"Then what I should have done? You want me to fight your divorce case but you won't give me any details. Ever since you gave this case to me, you didn't tell a single thing to me regarding your married life or your relationship with your wife. Otherside Gayathri Singh Rajput know each and everything about you people. She has all the details regarding this case, your and Khushi's relationship and married life. How do you expect me to fight a case without knowing any details.

"Even then when I found out some details on my own accord and try to save this case, you do things as you please. You support your wife in court making me look like an idiot. Also, here, in your house, people are spying on you and leaking information to the other side. What if I told you everything and they found out about it? It would have ruined all my efforts. So I didn't told you. And what difference does it make." Mr Roy asked miffed.

"It makes a difference. If I knew about this earlier, then I would have told you to not bring this matter to court. I don't want a divorce. That doesn't mean that I want to stoop low and mentally harass my wife for stopping this divorce. I don't want to use her weakness and mental condition to make her back out from divorce. I don't want that.

"Do you even realise, today because of you, Khushi could have been severely affected. You yourself are saying you knew about her depression and anxiety attacks. Yet, you agitated her enough to cause an anxiety attack in front of everyone. What if something had happened to her. What if her life was in danger due to the stunt pulled by you?" Arnav said angrily.

"OK. I agree that I went overboard today. I shouldn't have behaved like that with Khushi. I shouldn't have unnecessarily agitate her and cause her distress. It was really wrong on my part to cause her to have an anxiety attack. I should have been more careful and considerate. I am really sorry for that mistake.

"But Arnav, you tell me. What should I do? You don't tell me anything and everyday in court Mrs Rajput keep bringing new evidences and matters, that I am not even aware of. How could I help you like this? She knows every details of this case. I don't even have the basic knowledge. I don't even know which is truth, which is lies. Give me something. Tell me something, so that I could help you guys." Mr Roy said tiredly.

Arnav sighed frustrated. "Fine. I will give you details. I will tell you everything. But I don't want what happened in court today to happen again. You shouldn't hurt or harass Khushi in any way. Even if we loose this case, I don't want Khushi to get hurt because of anything." Arnav said sternly.

"OK. I promise. I will not do anything that cause harm to Khushi. You give me the details. I will prepare according to it. I will not do anything against Khushi here after." Mr Roy assured him.

Just then all saw Khushi entering the house followed by Gayathri. Gayathri had just reached Raizada Mansion when she saw Khushi entering the house. She quickly parked her car and followed Khushi. Khushi didn't notice Gayathri as she was lost in her thoughts.

As soon as they entered inside, Gayathri called her name from behind, making Khushi look at her. Khushi turned to her and sighed. She knew why Gayathri was there. She wanted answers. But she wasn't in a mood to talk. She just needed some time for herself.

Khushi stood at her place after turning back. Gayathri walked to her. "Khushi, I want to talk to you." Gayathri said urgently. She really wanted to know everything. She was agitated ever since she found out that Khushi had depression and tried to commit suicide. She want to know the reality of the matter. Unless she found out everything, she won't be in peace.

"Wait. I know what you want to talk to me about. But now, I am really not in a mood to talk. I am feeling very tired. I just want to take some rest. Tomorrow, I will come to your office. There, we can talk everything." Khushi said calmly.

"But..." Gayathri wanted to protest but seeing Khushi's pale and tired form, she decided to relent. She is pregnant and already had an episode of anxiety attack that day. It is better not to stress her more.

"OK. You take rest. We will talk tomorrow." Gayathri said calmly.

Khushi nodded and turned to go to her room. But just then Arnav ran to her and hugged her to himself. Khushi stiffened by the sudden hug and stood rigidly. She neither hugged him back nor pushed him away. She was numb. Gayathri stopped seeing that. She didn't feel good about leaving Khushi alone like that.

Arnav broke the hug. Holding her shoulders in his one hand, he cupped her face emotionally. He was still not out of fear of loosing her. He didn't know how much truth is there in the story of her suicide attempts. But her state today in court really gave him a scare. He doubt he would ever forget this incident ever in his life.

He looked into her eyes for any emotions but didn't find anything. Cupping her cheeks in his hand gently, he spoke, "Khushi, you... You... I... Are you alright?" He asked with difficulty as his vocal cords closed up seeing her painful state.

Khushi kept looking for him blankly without any reaction. "Khushi..." A helpless cry left Arnav seeing her emotionless. He kissed her forehead and hugged her again in attempt to evoke some feelings from her. Still Khushi didn't react. He took her hand and brought it to lips to kiss it. But next second, his eyes widened seeing the marks on her wrists.

There were multiple cut marks on her wrist. Almost all of them were healed. Some were deep. A couple of them looked like they were stitched. Arnav was horrified seeing that. He left Khushi and stepped back as if electrocuted. His heart felt shattered. His whole body went numb in pain. His breathing deranged.

So the story of her suicide attempts were true. His mind was till then refusing to believe that Khushi could attempt suicide. No. His Khushi was strong. She was a strong woman. She could never think of killing herself. His mind was justifying itself that he didn't stoop so low that he forced her into thinking of taking her life. But now the proof is right in front of his eyes. He couldn't deny it anymore. He did brought her into a state that she wanted to kill herself.

That thought shattered him. He felt dizzy. The past memories started running in front of his eyes. His mother killing herself in front of his eyes. For a moment, he felt Khushi in that place instead of his mother. Khushi standing with a gun to her temple ready to pull the trigger. Then it turned to an image of Khushi with a knife to her wrist and cutting herself with blood flowing out of her body.

"No." Arnav shouted closing his eyes tightly. He opened his eyes and saw Khushi standing in front of him. He hugged her immediately trying to make himself believe that she was alive, safe and secure in his arms. Slowly he felt relieved.

Khushi's eyes went to her wrist seeing Arnav's sudden erratic behaviour. But seeing the cut marks, her mind started showing her memories of the past few months. Her pain, her sufferings, her loss, everything came in front of her. Like that she remembered how she reached this state.

The numbness that she was feeling inside her since she left the court, slowly subsided. She realised what actually happened in court. How her pain and sufferings were used against her. Her heart grew cold at that thought.

"It was a good plan in court, today. Trying to prove me insane to stop this divorce. You really nailed it, Arnav." Khushi said coldly.

Arnav stiffened hearing her cold tone. He broke the hug and looked at Khushi confused.

"Seeing your behaviour in last few days, I started feeling that you were actually guilty and repenting for your actions. But no. It was all an act. How did I forget who you are. The great Arnav Singh Raizada. Who write his and everyone else's destiny. How could you ever have feelings like guilt and remorse. You are the person who could go to any extend to get what he wants and satisfy his ego. How did I even dare to think that you will behave humane in this matter. After all you have always proved that you are the beast who could destroy everything and everyone to achieve what he wants." Khushi said emotionlessly.

Arnav was shocked hearing her accusation. "You... You think I planned this? You think I want to prove you insane?" Arnav asked in disbelief. "You really think I could do something like this? Don't you know me?"

Khushi looked at his eyes confused. Then shrugging nonchalantly, answered, "I don't know. I don't know if you did it or not. I used to think that I know you. But lately I realised that I really don't. You are not the man I thought you to be. In last few months, you have done things and crosses such limits, that I thought you could never do. Now, I really don't know what you are capable of."

Arnav looked at her hoping to see some humour in her words. But she was rigid. He realised that she actually suspect him of planning this. It pained him to see distrust in her eyes.

"Khushi, trust me. I didn't do this. I didn't know about this matter till Mr Roy said it in court. I had no idea he was going to pull such a stunt. If I knew I would have never allowed him to do something like this." Arnav said trying to clear his stance.

Khushi looked at him calmly and said, "If you say so, I will believe your words. But don't expect me to trust you. I don't trust you anymore."

"Khushi..." Arnav cried desperately.

"Also, Arnav. Let me tell you something. You might be able to prove me insane in court and stop this divorce. I don't know. But never think it will change anything between us. Nothing can save our relationship anymore." Khushi said calmly.

"Khushi..." Arnav looked at her stunned.

"I know all of you are confused about this depression story. You all want to know the reality of it. The answer is yes, it is true. I had depression. A severe one. So much severe that I lost the sense of reality." Khushi said with a faraway look.

"For months, I had no idea what was happening to me or happening around me. I did the work told to me as if I was a robot. I couldn't feel anything. I couldn't sense anything. I was trapped inside my head with my own pain.

"Whatever you people did to me, I couldn't react. I was numb. Mami insulted me in front of her friends, called me names, treated me like a housemaid, gave my title to someone else. I couldn't react. Because my mind was numb. I couldn't even realise the extend of cruelty or injustice done to me.

"Anjali treated me as her personal maid. I couldn't protest because my mind wasn't reacting. I just couldn't understand or react to anything at all. My heart was in pain. More than all the atrocities happening to me, it was the pain of my heart that numbed me. I was dying from inside. Every moment the pain was killing me. And I couldn't react.

"I couldn't shout, I couldn't cry, I couldn't fight. I just couldn't. Last few months, I have lived the worst moments of my life. In fact, I have lost sense of reality in that time. I don't want to go back to that state. And the most ironic thing is nobody didn't even noticed it. My sister, who was being caring towards me and expressing her love for the last few days, didn't even understood my situation at that time. In a house full of people, I didn't had not even one person to bring me back to reality.

"Every moment I was dying bit by bit. I used to feel death was easy than living. I wanted to escape from that pain. I tried. Many times. But got saved. For months, I was in that state. I don't know if I am completely out of that state.

"My doctor thinks that my depression is gone now. Even I feel different now. I want to get out of this pain. This toxicity. I want to live. But there are times when that numbness still fills me. And I know it will not leave me unless and until I get out of this.

"Arnav, I don't know if this divorce will happen or not. But I know one thing, I don't have it in me to continue this. This whatever that was between us. This relationship. This marriage. This love. From my side, I can't do it anymore. I can't feel it anymore. It died inside me. It kept dying and you were enjoying my misery. I don't have it in me to live it again.

"Arnav, I am telling you truthfully. Before filing for divorce, I thought a lot about giving a second chance to our relation. But I couldn't. Even the thought of it made me numb. It killed me. I started feeling disgusted of my own skin whenever I thought of continuing this relation.

"I decided to end this only when I reached my ultimate limit. From here on, I can't move forward with you. How much ever I tried, I couldn't bring myself to give a second chance to this marriage. It would destroy me if I did. I would die or ruin myself. I could never live with myself if I continued this marriage.

"Arnav, once, for a very brief period, we had a beautiful relationship. A very special connection. A sweet love. I used to cherish and treasure it. But it destroyed me. Yet I never thought of giving up and fought for this relationship. But at last all that went in vain. Arnav, this moment. This could have been the most beautiful moments of our life.

"We could have been enjoying this amazing phase of our life. But you destroyed it in your ego. You ruined us, our love and every good things in this relationship. Everytime after all the pain, whenever I used to think of forgiving you, my mind and heart gave justifications for you. But this time, there was no justification.

"This time, there was no justification other than the fact that you destroyed everything to satisfy your ego. You destroyed me. You destroyed our relationship. You destroyed us. You ruined the beauty of our relationship. And this time I can't forgive you. This time, I don't have it in me to give you a second chance. You have destroyed me and our relationship too much to the point of no return.

"Arnav, that's why I decided to end this marriage. I had no intention to hurt anyone or cause any problems to anyone. But I couldn't continue this marriage. I only wanted divorce so that this pain caged inside me would get out. So that only I filed divorce petition on the basis of incompatibility. Even now I don't want to hurt anyone of you.

"That's why I am not filing any domestic violence case on anybody. I have even tried to keep media out of this issue. I just want this to end peacefully with minimum damage to everyone. Honestly speaking, I am tired of everything. I don't want to fight with anyone. I am tired of fighting, this pain, this hurt, everything. I just want all this to end. I want to get out of this pain and numbness inside me and live a bit. I want to feel a bit happy. I want to smile and enjoy my happiness." Khushi said in a daze benumbed.

Arnav stood silently and numb, hearing everything. His worst nightmare is here. And yet he couldn't wake up from it and think that all of it was a dream. His mind was still conjuring images of Khushi's suicide attempts. Other side, the fear and pain of loosing Khushi was making him go insane. His mind was in chaos and he couldn't think or understand anything.

Mr Roy was feeling guilty for what he did to Khushi in the court. He knew he went overboard in his enthusiasm to find a loophole and win the case. He forgot about everything and even ignored the fact that Khushi was pregnant. He didn't realize the damage his actions could have caused if anything untoward had happened to Khushi.

Also he started feeling guilty about creating a rift between the couple due to the misunderstanding caused by him. He decided to come clean regarding the medical documents and Arnav's innocence in that matter.

"Khushi, I know you are upset about what happened in the court today. I am really sorry about that. It was really wrong of me harassing and causing mental distress to you. It was my mistake. I shouldn't have done that. I shouldn't have agitated you knowing your condition. I sincerely apologize for that. Please forgive me." Mr Roy apologized profusely.

Khushi nodded her head in acknowledgement.

"Also, I wish to confess one thing. Khushi, whatever happened in court today, it was my doing. Arnav has no role in it. In fact, he didn't even know about your depression matter till I said it in court. It was me who planned it.

"I had suspicions of you having some problems seeing your weak appearance and your anxiety attack in that video. So I investigated it and found out regarding you consulting Dr Arjun. And then I came to know about your medical conditions and decided it use it against you in court. It was me who planned the entire thing. Arnav had no knowledge or involvement in this matter." Mr Roy said guiltily.

Khushi frowned and then looked at Arnav. She nodded her head in understanding. But before anyone could say anything for Mr Roy's confession, all heard a voice that confused them.

"And that is why you are going to be in trouble for doing that." The strong voice said firmly.

All turned to the entrance and saw a handsome man in his late thirties standing there. Raizadas were confused seeing him. Mr Roy gulped in fear seeing him. Gayathri frowned in displeasure. Khushi visibly relaxed.

Dr Arjun Chakraborthy walked inside Raizada Mansion gracefully with attitude.

But before anybody could react, Gayathri shouted. "You!!! What are you doing here?"

Arjun frowned seeing Gayathri. "You!!!" Then smirking, said, "Exactly my question. What are you doing here?"

"I am Khushi's lawyer. So I came to meet her." Gayathri said proudly gritting her teeth.

"Haa." Arjun snorted. Then in same tone, said, "I am Khushi's psychiatrist. So I came to meet her."

"You!!! It is all because of you. Because of you, this mess happened today. If you didn't gave him Khushi's medical documents, this problem wouldn't have happened." Gayathri said angrily. She just despised him. Specially for his overbearing attitude and unreasonably imposed rights on Khushi.

"Speaking of which, I came to settle that matter only." Arjun said with fake smile and turned to Mr Roy.

Mr Roy was praying at that moment for the earth to split and take him in. This was going to be the most embarrassing moment of his life.

"Mr Vineet Roy, right?" Arjun asked with narrowed eyes.

"Hello, Mr Chakraborthy." Mr Roy said with a sugary smile.

"Mr Roy, you really have some explanation to do. Because I clearly remember refusing to give you any medical records of Khushi's case unless and until you have any valid court orders asking me to submit those documents. Then how come you got my medical notes without my permission?" Arjun asked sternly.

"Wo... I..." Mr Roy looked down embarrassed.

"Mr Roy, I hope you know the consequences of this action of yours. You tried to breach patient doctor confidentiality by illegal means. You stole valuable documents from my office. You submitted unauthorized documents on my name in court. These are all not trivial matters. You better get ready to bear the consequences of your actions.

"I am going to file a lawsuit against you in court. You and your accomplice, the nurse who helped you to stole the documents will be facing legal trial for your actions. Before you fight for others, you better prepare for defending yourself in court." Arjun said with a calm face but fire spitting eyes.

Mr Roy was shocked hearing that. Oh no. Seems like he is in major trouble. Damnit. Where did he got stuck. He can't even expect help from Arnav on this matter as he did it on his own without Arnav's knowledge or consent.

"Don't worry. This case I will fight for you for free." Gayathri said to Dr Arjun smirking at Mr Roy. You hurt my daughter. I am going to ruin you for that.

"What???" Mr Roy was shocked hearing that.

Raizadas frowned but shrugged it off. Who asked Mr Roy to act smart and cause trouble. Suits him for his overconfidence. Khushi shook her head seeing her mother's antics. Arjun looked at Gayathri amused.

"Deal." Arjun agreed.

Mr Roy looked at them shocked. Weren't they fighting few minutes back. What the hell is happening?

Arjun turned to Khushi and asked gently, "Khush, are you alright?" He was worried ever since he came to know about the incidents in the court.

"Doc, relax. I am fine." Khushi said with a small smile.

"Khush, I am really sorry for what happened today. I had no idea about the leak of documents from my office. I am really for the inconvenience caused to you. Rest assured, I will make this fine." Arjun said softly.

"And those who did this, are going to regret badly for doing this. They are going to regret bringing this matter to court." Arjun said glaring at Mr Roy.

"It's OK, Doc. No worries. I am fine. I don't have any problem with disclosing this matter. It was not like I was trying to hide about my depression from anyone. I just didn't want to make this case more messier than it already was. But seems like that's not going to happen. It's OK. We will handle it. Don't worry." Khushi said calmly.

"Khush, don't worry. I will handle this. I will make it alright. I will come in court and fix this." Arjun promised.

"That's fine, Doc. I am bit tired from all the emotional things. I want to rest. I will go and take a nap. We will talk another time." Khushi said softly.

"OK. You go and take rest. I will also be leaving shortly." Arjun smiled at her patting her head.

Khushi nodded her head and walked inside.

"Who are you?" Arnav asked him softly. He has a slight inkling of who he is. Just wanted to confirm.

"I am Dr Arjun Chakraborthy. Khushi's psychiatrist. And you are?" Arjun asked calmly.

"I am Arnav Singh Raizada. Khushi's husband." Arnav said softly. Hearing that Arjun's face changed.

Arnav looked at Arjun with a pained eyes. "How is she? What is her condition?" Arnav asked in worry and concern.

Arjun frowned at him. "Why do you care? You brought her to this state. Now don't act like you care so much for her." Arjun spat angrily.

Arnav looked down sad and guilty.

"Listen to me, Mr Arnav Singh Raizada. Let me make one thing clear to you. Don't think that you will win by proving Khushi insane and stop this divorce. I will not let it happen. I will not allow her to suffer more in this house nor you will be able to hurt her anymore.

"For the stunt you people pulled in court today, you are going to regret badly. I will sue everyone involved. Well, that's another matter. But this depression matter is going to be a big problem for you guys. Khushi is already recovered from that. So it will not have a big effect on her. But the question will be why she even had it in the first place.

"Each and everyone of you will be answerable for that. Khushi was actually protecting you people by not bringing this matter up. But you guys. You yourself put an axe on your foot. Now nobody can save you people. Till now there was no evidence for the physical and mental torchure you people caused her. It were mere words. But her depression report was the biggest evidence to prove how much you people abused her.

"This will ruin you people. Even if Khushi doesn't file for domestic violence, the medical reports will prove the domestic violence happened on her. You guys are going to pay for all the atrocities that you did on her." Arjun said angrily.

"Dr Arjun, you are a doctor. You can't be biased and manipulate medical documents siding with your patient." Mr Roy said agitated.

"Are you questioning my capabilities and judgement of my patient's condition. Who said anything about manipulating medical documents. I am not a fraud to manipulate medical documents and give false information regarding my patient's condition.

"I agree that I am little biased in matters regarding to Khushi but that's only because of the emotional connection I feel with her. I have never done anything that is ethically wrong according to my profession. Even in Khushi's case, it is the same. Khushi's depression is already cured. That's a fact.

"And if you have doubts regarding my judgement, you can get any psychiatrist from anywhere to re-evaluate Khushi and check her present medical conditions. Let me assure you, no doctor in the world will diagnose Khushi as mentally unstable now. At this moment, no honest and competent doctor can prove that Khushi has depression. She is completely sane and perfectly capable of making decisions for herself." Arjun said sternly.

"But she had depression. That's truth. It was not a lie. Nor I submitted any false documents in court. Those documents were true." Mr Roy said in his defence.

"Yes. It's true. Khushi had depression. Had not has. She had a very severe case of depression. And it was because of these people. Their behaviour towards her. The atrocities and abuses happened to her in this house. Mostly their ignorance to her pain was the reason. They could have avoided it. They could have helped her. If atleast one of them would have taken the initiative, she wouldn't have been in that state.

"All of them are equally culprit in this matter. When others are in pain or need support, she would be the first person to help. But when she needed it, there was no one. If atleast one of you had showed a little bit love, care and concern for her, she wouldn't have reached that state.

"Let me tell you, she wasn't having some simple case of depression. It was so severe that she wanted to kill herself. She tried committing suicide. In fact she succeeded couple of times if not for the house helps in this house who found her at correct time and rescued her. You should actually be thanking them for saving her. Otherwise right now instead of her divorce case, you all will be fighting her murder case for abetment of suicide." Arjun said scornfully.

Raizadas flinched hearing that. Gayathri was shocked knowing it.

"The truth is you all are her culprit. All of you pushed her into this state. If atleast one person showed a little mercy on her and tried to understand her condition or help her, she wouldn't have reached that state. But no, all of you were so blind in your ego to realise the damage you people were causing to a poor soul." Arjun said angrily.

He looked at everyone and said feeling distress for Khushi, "I am not blaming any single person. You all are same. From childhood, she only craved for one thing. A little love and care from her loved ones. But she never got it. People just used her for their benefits and then threw her away. Nobody tried to understand what she was going through. For you all your ego was bigger than her pain. No matter who it is. All were same. All her life, she craved for her parent's love and attention but never got..." Arjun looked at Gayathri.

Gayathri felt numb and guilty hearing that. It was true. She was never there for her daughter when she needed it. She closed her eyes in pain.

"She tried to accept the family where she got a little bit of love as her own but still she remained outsider. Nobody could understand her misery." Arjun said thinking about Guptas. Payal closed her eyes in regret.

"She thought that when she would get married, she will finally have a family and love. But that dream also shattered. Neither her in law's understood her nor they accepted her whole heartedly." Arjun said looking at Nani, Mama and Mami making all of them feel ashamed and guilty.

"Even the people who proclaimed themselves as her siblings and always expected her support and love, never really understood or cared for her. When they needed, she is of use. She is their best sibling, friend, confidante and advisor. But when she needs they couldn't believe on her or support her." Arjun said looking at the youngsters. Anjali, Payal, Akash and NK bend their heads in shame and regret.

Arjun turned to Arnav. "Finally the love of her life. I wonder if Khushi had ever loved anyone as much as she had loved you. There were so many incidents in her life that could have broken the stability of any normal person. Still Khushi fought it all. Finally nobody else but the man she loved the most itself broke her beyond repair.

"I doubt if there was any person who ever wanted to experience love and have a happy married life, than Khushi. For a long time, her only dream was to fall in love with a good man and live a happy life with him. Maybe that's why, when she fell in love with you, she loved you with her everything. She was so much into you that she even forgot herself. But who knew that man itself will be the reason of her destruction." Arjun said with abhorrence.

Calming himself, Arjun continued, "Arnav, if all these people had been bad to her and you only would have been there for her, then also she would have survived. Because all she ever wanted was your love and care. And that's why the pain caused by you, cut her the most and gave her the most deepest wound. You were her anchor to life and you became her destroyer also. When you left her hand, she fell into the oblivion and lost herself. And now she is learning to leave your hand and anchor herself to life on her own..." ... through your babies. Arjun wanted to say but didn't.

For some reasons, he didn't want to mention the babies being Khushi's reason of recovery. He didn't want anybody to use those babies to harm Khushi. Also, he didn't know whether Raizadas know about Khushi's pregnancy or not. And if Khushi doesn't want them to know, he didn't want to reveal it.

"Arnav, you asked me about Khushi's condition. Though, I am not obliged to answer this question to anybody other than Khushi, I will tell you this. Khushi is recovering. She is not depressed anymore, also does not have any suicidal thoughts. Clinically, she is perfectly alright.

"But her emotional state is very fragile. Even her physical state could be in danger if not taken proper care. Any mental distress could cost her life. Her depression is recovered but she is not fully out of the after effects. Any trigger could cause an anxiety attack like today.

"Specially you should be very careful when you discuss the past traumatic incidents. Mrs Rajput, Mr Roy, this is also for your knowledge. Be very careful, when you discuss the matters of these past months. Specially last four to five months. They are very bad triggering points. Don't bring things that could make her relive those traumatic experiences. If any untoward happens, even her life will be in danger." Arjun said seriously.

All nodded in agreement.

"I hope this time all of you could show some humanity and not cause any trouble. Arnav, I know you don't want this divorce. You feel that if you get a second chance, you could make things better between you both. I don't know the effectiveness of that plan but I would like to tell you, Khushi was badly hurt this time and I doubt she would ever recover from that trauma. So don't pull any new felonious stunt just to keep Khushi with you. Because this time, if you do something like that, you might end up loosing more than just Khushi." Arjun warned him of the consequences vaguely.

Arnav nodded his head in understanding. Arjun sighed. He hoped this young man doesn't cause any more trouble. Because if any untoward happens, Khushi's condition would be very bad. He didn't want that. So he did what he could do. Warn him. He could shout at him and threaten him. But from what he has deduced of Arnav's character from Khushi's stories, he is not a man who could be controlled by anger. If anything it triggered his beast mode. So he tried the other method. Calm and emotional method. Hope this works.

Arjun turned to Mr Roy and said with a cunning smile. "So, see you in police station. I am going to station right now and file a case on you. If you want, you can try for a bail. Now, don't blame me that I didn't warn you before itself."

Mr Roy gulped in fear.

"Mrs Rajput, will you come with me?" Arjun asked fake politely.

Gayathri who was lost in her thoughts, jerked and looked at him lost. "What?" She asked frowning.

"I am going to station to file the case. Do you want to come along?" Arjun repeated his question.

"You go ahead. I have some work. I will reach police station directly after that." Gayathri said.

Arjun nodded and left. Behind him, Gayathri and Mr Roy too left RM. Mr Roy tried to talk to Arjun but ignoring him, Arjun left. Sighing, Mr Roy too followed Arjun to police station while instructing his assistant to arrange bail for him. Gayathri took her car and went to a place she often went when she was confused and want to think.

She sat there thinking about everything that happened during the day. The incidents in court, Khushi's condition, Arjun's words. Finally after thinking for sometime, she came to a conclusion. Taking her phone, she dialed a number she hadn't called in a long time.

Character Sketch

Introducing Dr Arjun Chakraborthy

Khushi's psychiatrist and friend. After Khushi recovered from coma, she had developed post traumatic stress disorder. Her father's absence was a major reason for it. Then Khushi's grandfather hired Dr Arjun for treating Khushi. Khushi was 10 years old and Dr Arjun was 26 years old when they met.

Initially, Khushi was aloof from everyone but she slowly connected to Dr Arjun. Arjun was the friend she needed more than her doctor. She opened up to him and slowly recovered from her condition. Arjun was an orphan. He had a younger sister who was kidnapped and later died when she was of Khushi's age. So Khushi reminded him of his dead sister. That made Arjun have an emotional attachment to Khushi.

Though as a psychiatrist he was not supposed to emotionally bond with his patients, but he couldn't help himself in Khushi's case. With Arjun's help, Khushi was back to her old happy self. Though she missed her father badly and still had phobia for speeding cars and darkness, she was fine otherwise. Khushi found an elder brother, friend and father figure in Arjun.

Over the years, their bond grew. They became each other's confidante and best friend. They could talk and share their deepest inner feelings and worries without being judged. While Arjun healed Khushi professionally, Khushi also erased Arjun's horrible past memories from his life and helped him to move on.

Now, Arjun is Khushi's psychiatrist who is helping her overcome her depression and anxiety issues.
