Chapter 1
Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada sat in the waiting room thinking about her life. Her face was blank. There was no emotion on her face. In fact it seems like there is no emotions left inside her.The Girl whose face always held happiness like her name, was bereft of any emotions.
She sat there calmly unlike the other occupants of the room. Some were crying, some sad, some anxious, some impatient. Obviously nobody would be happy sitting in the waiting room of one of the most famous supreme court lawyer's office. All were there for one or other cases. Even her. But there was no tinge of impatience in her.
Maybe a little bit of apprehension regarding the person she was going to meet. The person who she never wanted to meet in her life. The person who she never thought she would meet willingly. The person who she loved the most and hated the most in her life. Her mother. Her birth mother.
She hated her so much that she preferred to call herself orphan than ever saying her name. She didn't know why she came here to meet her. Why she decided to entrust the most crucial case of her life in the hands of her. Her mother. As a mother, she never trusted her. But still she was here, sitting in the waiting room of her office, waiting for her turn to meet her.
Maybe because she trusted her as a lawyer. She trusted her to get justice for her as a lawyer. After all she never lost any case she fought and was always a very good lawyer. Maybe that was why she decided to let her fight the most important and life changing case of her life.
But as the time passed, her apprehension increased. She started contemplating whether she did right coming here. She almost decided to leave when she heard her name being called. She calmed herself and walked towards the cabin, the secretary showed.
She opened the door and walked inside. She stood in front of her mother. Her mother looked up and immediately a look of shock passed through her face.
"Khushi..." Her mother, Gayathri Singh Rajput whispered in surprise.
Gayathri Singh Rajput
Khushi looked at her blankly. She was not here for rekindling their relationship or small talk. She was past that phase with her. She has no interest in changing anything between them. She was here for professional help. She wanted nothing more, nothing less.
"Khushi... you here?" Gayathri asked confused. "Come sit." She said with a small smile leaving all her work.
Khushi sat down and just looked at her blankly.
"What will you have? Tea, juice?" Gayathri asked taking the phone to order.
"No. Nothing. I am not here for all this. I... I want you to fight a case for me." Khushi directly came to the point.
Gayathri's face fell. The smile was wiped off from her face. She was seeing her daughter after three years. The last time they met, something very bad happened between them. After that, Khushi left house and asked her to never try to find her.
She knew she was angry on her, maybe hated her even. And she knew it was all her fault. She had hurt her so much that her daughter even hates saying her name. And she had nobody else to blame but her own self.
Nonetheless she was her mother. A mother can never hate her child and will always worry for her. She respected her request and kept her distance. But a part of her always thought about her child. Her only child.
Khushi saw her becoming sad but didn't react. People might feel that she is heartless but years of pain won't be wiped away in minutes. They never had that usual loving mother daughter relationship. It's more of a formal relationship than the emotional one. It was like that as long as she remembered.
Gayathri soon composed herself. "OK. Tell me. What's it about? Is it civil case or criminal case?" Gayathri asked professionally.
"I want divorce and I want you to help me get that." Khushi said in an emotionless voice.
Gayathri looked at her startled. "Divorce case? You are married?" She asked shocked.
God. What the hell is happening. She had no idea her only daughter is married. And she is sitting in front of her asking her to fight her divorce case. She gulped painfully.
She looked at Khushi carefully. There was mangalsutra (wedding chain) on her neck with a small diamond pendent. A tinge of vermilion was there on her partition. It was such a small stroke that if not looked carefully, it's almost invisible.
Her face was still blank without any emotion as if she didn't just ask to fight her divorce case. She looked pale. She has lost so much of weight than what she saw last. She looked weak, her eyes were red, there were dark circles under her eyes, her face was devoid of any make up, it has lost its glow. She looked sick. Moreover her smile was absent.
She had never seen her daughter so broken. It looked like there was no life left in her. She felt concerned. What had happened. What made her ever happy child to be in this state.
"Khushi, are you... Are you alright?" Gayathri asked concerned.
For a moment, it looked like some emotions passed over her face but soon the blank look came back.
"Yeah. I.. I am fine. I just want you to fight my divorce case." Khushi said firmly.
"But Divorce. Why do you want divorce?" Gayathri asked curiously. She has no idea when and how her daughter got married. But her wanting divorce is not something small. Her daughter is not someone who takes relationships for granted. She never runs away from her responsibilities. She gives her everything for her loved ones and does everything to make it work.
Then why she wants divorce. She looked so weak. Yet so determined about her decision of divorce. What happened as such that she wants to give up on the most important relationship of her life.
"I want divorce." Khushi repeated once again.
Gayathri sighed. "Khushi, I understand that you want divorce. But unless and until you tell me why you want divorce and what exactly happened, I can't help you." She said softly.
Khushi looked torn. Then she slowly started saying everything. "After I left home, I went to lucknow. There, I met Garima Mausi. I started living with her and her family. I also officially changed my name to Khushi Kumari Gupta. One and a half year back, Garima Mausi's daughter Payal Jiji's marriage got fixed with a guy. But on the day of marriage....." With that she started narrating everything that happened in her life.
How she met Arnav. Payal's broken marriage. How she met Shyam. Them shifting to Delhi. Meeting Arnav again, working for him, their fights, Shyam, contract marriage, kidnapping, how Shyam was thrown out, Anjali's miscarriage, their remarriage, exposing Shyam and finally how Sheetal and Arav entered their life. Arav's similarity with Arnav, family's ignorance, DNA test, Arnav hurting her, everything.
By the end of it, she was crying. She didn't know how she told all these to Gayathri. She even said about contract marriage about which she had never spoken to anyone. Maybe it was to her mother she was sharing everything, helped. She felt a bit better. But the pain was still unbearable. No she didn't say everything. There were few more things but that should remain with her. Only with her. It was only for her to know.
Gayathri also had tears running down her face hearing everything. But more than that she was bubbling in anger. How dare that Arnav Singh Raizada hurt her daughter. She is not going to spare him.
"What the hell. How dare he. And his stupid family. How dare they hurt you. I am not going to spare them. I am going to sue each and everyone of them. They will all rot in jail for the rest of their lives." Gayathri said angrily.
"No. You won't do any such things. I just want all this to end peacefully. I don't want to punish anyone. You just file divorce petition for mutual divorce on the basis of incompatibility and send to Arnav." Khushi said calmly.
"What? Mutual divorce? Incompatibility? What nonsense. They should be send to jail for domestic violence." Gayathri said angrily.
Khushi sighed. "I don't want any problems. Just send divorce papers on the basis of incompatibility. Even then I know it's not going to be easy. Arnavji will not agree for divorce that easily." Khushi said knowing how stubborn her husband is.
"Just let me put domestic violence case against them. Then I will see how he doesn't agree." Gayathri tried to convince Khushi.
"No. Only incompatibility issue. No other reason." Khushi said adamantly.
"OK. Fine. It's difficult just with incompatibility issue. But still let's see." Gayathri said.
"Also, one more thing..." Khushi said.
Gayathri looked at her curiously.
"I want the custody of my babies." Khushi said softly.
"You have kids?" Gayathri asked surprised.
"Not yet. But I am pregnant and I want my babies. I don't want to loose them." Khushi said emotionally rubbing her invisible tummy.
"Oh. OK. Don't worry. Nobody will snatch your kids away from you. I will make sure you get their custody. And Congratulations." Gayathri said with a smile.
"Thank you." Khushi said with a small smile. Her first smile since she came.
"How many months?" Gayathri asked genuinely happy. She was thrilled on the prospect of becoming a Nani (Maternal Grandmother).
"Second." Khushi said with twinkling eyes. Her babies are the only ray of hope in her life now. She loves talking about them.
After that they started talking about the case some more.
Finally after discussing everything, Gayathri said, "OK, then. I will make the divorce petition. You can come in, in 2 days. You can sign the petition then and then I will send it to Arnav. We can discuss other things also on that day. "
"OK. I will leave then." Khushi nodded.
"Khushi, if you need any help, anything, you can call me. You know that, right?" Gayathri said.
Khushi nodded and bidding bye, she left. Gayathri sighed. This is going to be the most difficult case of her life. Her own daughter's divorce case.
OK. So this is the first chapter of my new story. It's a continuation of the show. It's based on Sheetal track. I know this is my fourth story on Sheetal track. I don't know why I can't stop myself from writing on that track. I am little obsessed with it. It was such a nice track but the makers just ruined it. Everytime I think about that track, a new concept come to my mind.
OK. So as you can see, this story will focus on Arshi's divorce. What exactly happened that led to this divorce will reveal as the story progress. Also this story starts seven months after Sheetal's entry in Shantivan. So what happened in this seven months. How it led to the divorce of Arshi is the crux of story.
Also Khushi is not orphan in this story. She has parents but as you can see, she is not cordial with them. So this story will focus little on Khushi's past also. Why she hates her parents, why they are not in her life, why she has changed her name and all.
So stay tuned for the further story.
