chapter 1
A huge thanks to roguewarrior2002 for the cover.
I jumped in front of Lissa and then bullet bit me in the chest ,pain was all I felt but it only lasted for a second before darkness took over . From the corner of my eye I saw Dimitri move towards us, I did not know if he planed on moving in front of me or Lissa but I knew one thing from the look in his eyes.
He still loves me.

I sat up in bed gasping, sweet stuck to my body and blankets were all over the place. I placed a hand over my mouth and willed myself not to vomit.
Once I controlled my stomach ,I remembered the bullet. I got shot.....and I'm still .....alive .Patting my chest I tried to find any evidence of the bullet wound, finding nothing I looking into my shirt and saw clear skin. Their was no wound but that was not the only thing I noticed. My breast was definitely smaller than before and last time I check I'm pretty sure that being shot by a bullet did not make you breast smaller.
I looked up and was not met with the familiar scenery of my room instead I was met with the room that me and Lissa stayed at before we taken back to the Academy. It..... couldn't be possible, theirs no way it possible. Jumping up from the bed I saw that I wore the same pajamas as the night we were dragged back to the Academy. Rushing over to the calendar on the wall I looked at the date.
I stared .
And stared.
And stared.
It could be possible. The date we were taken back to the Academy. This was not supposed to happen. I was supposed to be dead ,I knew that the bullet should of killed me, I shouldn't be back to the day we were taken to the Academy. Time travel isn't even possible, I snorted, I was half vampire and I was saying time travel didn't exist.
The only reason I could think of was Lissa. She must of healed me but instead of me waking up their I woke up in the past. Which means I have to do everything all over again unless I find a way back to my time. Suddenly I gasped and my eyes widen when I was consumed by fear that was not mine at all.
Lissa.
I shot put of my room and rushed over to her room next door, opening the door, it slammed against the wall ,I ran over to towards Lissa who was laying thrashing in her bed and screaming, shaking her shoulder I tried to wake her.
" Lissa. "I called but got no reaction.
" Lissa. " I tried again.
Lissa shot up in bed and I moved back just in time so her head would not collide with mine. I grinned despite the situation, I still had my reflexes which meant I still had fighting skills and muscles ,I was glad for I did not want to have to build up the muscles again. That's something I never want to experience again. Ever.
Most of the fear that had I felt moments ago had vanished but there was some regret and sadness their. Once Lissa recognized me, she immediately threw herself into my arms and began to dry sob.
" R-Rose, it-it was h-horrib-ble, I c-couldn't save th-them. "she spoke her face still buried in my shoulder.
" Sshhhh, it's OK Lissa, it was just a flashback. It wasn't your fault. " I said as I stoked her blonde hair hair that was slightly messed up from sleep.
I sat their with Lissa in my arms waiting for her to calm down and I sent waves of calmness over towards her. It helped a lot as she almost immediately calmed down, with an occasional hiccup.
I pulled back and took ahold of Lissa's face between my hands. I stared into her light green eyes which were slightly red rimmed and swollen from crying .
" You OK? " I asked.
She nodded and flopped back onto her pillows.
" It was awful Rose."
" I know ,I saw the entire thing. " I whispered.
" Again ?" she questioned.
" Yeah, they're becoming more frequent ."I lied. I had to figure out a way to explain how our bond become so developed .
Spirit.
The more she used Spirit the more our bond grows, it's a perfect plan. Now all that needs to be done is the decision of going back to the Academy or not.
I glanced at Lissa ,who still had her eyes closed ,getting up I went over towards the window and peeked out. I searched the streets and spotted a figure under the tree across from the road. Going back over to Lissa I sat on the edge of her bed. It wasn't my choice ,all I was supposed to do was protect Lissa, since I knew who the threat was she could go back, she could try and have a normal teenage life. Making up my mind I spoke.
" Lissa.....do you want to return to the Academy?"
Lissa once again shot up but this time I was not as lucky to doge her head and her forehead collided with mine.
" Ouch. " we both said.
Rubber my forehead I threw a glare at Lissa.
"Rose are you serious ,what if-" I cut Lissa off, knowing she would be worried since Miss Karp warned us or well Lissa, not quite sure, that the Academy wasn't safe for us.
" Don't worry, the Academy might actually be the safest place for us and we both know you are next in line to the throne, as much as I hate to say it ,we need our education ." Once again I found myself with an armful of my best friend.
" Thank you, thank you, thank you. " Lissa chanted as she kissed my face. Laughing at her antics I gently pulled away from her.
" Then go pack our things, I'll be right back. " I said as I went to my room to put on a pair of pants and hoodie.
Lissa instead of packing like I told her to she followed me into my room.
" What! Now, Rose it's the middle of the night, we can't leave now. " she told me, wide awake.
" Yes we are, our ride is here ,pack everything. " I say as I head down the stairs ,I opened the door and heard Lissa rushing around packing. I smiled and shook my head, exiting the apartment, I closed the door behind me , the cold night air was the first thing that hit me and I shivered before I jogged across the street where I had seen the figure earlier.
I came to a stop by the tree but did not see anyone, looking around I saw a group of men talking to each other . Probably trying to figure out how to capture us.
Knowing that if I approached them, they would think I was attacking. Instead I gave a loud whistle. There heads immediately snapped in my direction as one. Creepy. Seeing as they know that I'm her I jog over to the group . As I get closer several of them tense and I almost froze, not because of them but because one of the men stood out more than the others.
I would never be able to forget the figure. Tall lean, muscled frame, chocolate brown eyes and dark brown hair ,skin as pale as before and features set in an emotionless mask .
Dimitri Belikov.
Our eyes met for a brief second, that second felt years to me ,but I quickly looked away. I knew I still love him and he loves me, well loved me. I sigh I guess I'll be falling again.
Stopping in front of the group if men I looked all of them over, they were familiar faces thankfully . They were so serious, maybe I could play a little. Hopefully Lissa doesn't find out.
" It's about time you arrived. I've been waiting for you to come to fetch us. Vasilisa is currently packing our things, why don't you help her out, we will be able to make it to the Academy faster that way. " I spoke in my best serious voice and turned on the spot walking back to the apartment.
Stopping once I did not hear footsteps I looked over my shoulder and spoke with a smile.
" Are you coming? "
They snapped out of whatever trans they were in and moved. Following me they were unusually vocal. They kept on whispering to each other and making calls as we walked. Probably informing the Academy that we are on our way. I did not turn around for I knew that a certain pair of brown eyes would be staring at me. I knew that if I looked back all I would want is to run into his arms. I resisted and instead just hugged myself trying to keep myself warm.
Opening the apartment door I lead the group of men up towards me and Lissa's apart of the apartment. I entered and I knew the others did as well.
Lissa was running around being well..... Lissa.
" Lissa, I got us help to pack. " I shouted as I kicked off my shoes.
I turned to the men at the door. Glaring at them I spoke.
" Shoes off. Now. " Not waiting for them to do it I walked toward where the noise was coming from. I found Lissa struggling to close a suitcase. Behind her lay several more , well I guess theirs no need to help pack anymore.
Walking over to her I easily zipped up the full suitcase that she was struggling with .
" That's everything. " she said as she collapsed on the bed. I actually felt really bad now, she hasn't eaten in days and that was bad.
I frowned at Lissa before sticking my head out of her rooms door .
" Luggage ,in here boys." I shouted.
Lissa looked at me curiously bit I just gestured my head towards the door.
" Our ride. "
Her eyes widen when she saw the men in all black enter the room. Her eyes immediately went to me ,to them and back to me. Laughing I flopped down next to her.
" They were watching the apartment, it's one of the reasons I asked you if you wanted to return to the Academy. " I told her fully aware of the men listening in on us.
"Nice socks dude. " laughing I said to the man who stood by the door with bright neon pink socks. He did not even bat an eyelash at me instead kept his usual mask up even though his cheeks turned a rosy pink .
" So are you ready? " I asked when all the luggage was gone.
" As I'll ever be. " she replied.
" That's my girl. " I said nudging her with my shoulder.
Taking her hand I pulled her out of the apartment and into a black SUV, unfortunately they made me sit in front much to my protest and misfortune, because Dimitri just happened to be the one to drive us. I looked out of the window.
Then I remembered he was supposed to be Lissa's Guardian.
Their are four types of people in our world.
One would be humans, they were normal people, no magic, werewolves, vampires or element users their ,just plain boring humans.
Number two would be the Moroi, they were the Vampires, they were the Royal, they could control elements and use magic Moroi were to be protected at all cost and that's were I come in.
Number three the dhampir , half vampire and half human, I could a cheese burger and fries any day ,we were born to protect the Moroi at all cost and we only had one enemy.
Number four the Strigoi ,vampires who drained a life turn into a blood thirsty animal that only ever thought about blood. Moroi blood especially it was like drugs to a drug addict. Irresistible.
Now we were in our way back to St. Vladamir's Academy, a school who taught Moroi how to control their powers and train dhampirs how to protect their Moroi.
I was a dhampir , Lissa was a Moroi, a royal Moroi, the last of her blood line and it was my job to protect her, and protect her I would, no matter what.
