"Japan," Shuu explained. "There's a business convention and I have to go to manage our assets."
Marie nodded. "Which particular assets?"
"There are a few chains that I'll be meeting with, some clothing shops, some cafes, that sort of thing. You're welcome to come."
She smiled and nodded. "I'd love to. Whatever helps support you and the business."
He smiled back, but his mind wasn't on her.
He hated the business.
But he missed Japan.
He'd be there soon, though.

"There's a convention," the manager explained. "But my sister is having a family emergency, so I can't make it. I need you to go in my place."
"But I don't know any-"
"You don't really have to do anything, just show up and say everything's fine and dandy, give him a smile, be on your merry way."
Ken hesitated. "Why me?"
"You've been here the longest, next to me. You're young, nice, pretty. You'll do great."
"Okay..." she said reluctantly.
She didn't really want to go to this business convention meeting thing. She a) didn't know anything about business and b) didn't know much about the company and c) didn't even know who she was supposed to meet with.
But she didn't have much choice, did she?
"You can bring a plus one," the manager added.
