Chapter 42
Leaning into my husband, I lace my hands with his, as we walk down the sidewalk. The pair of us in our formal date clothes for this evening. A soft midnight black dress hugging my features with white long sleeves while Dabi wore a simple buttoned up shirt and jeans. The pair of us enjoying the first evening together of our honeymoon after a rather stressful, exhausting and long flight from Japan to L.A before enduring another long car ride to my uncles beach house that we were vacationing in for the next two weeks.
The flight literally battered us. Unfortunately, during our flight, we got stuck beside a rather snotty women who wasn't happy with anything. Apparently the coffee the flight attendant gave her was too cold... then it was too hot. Then, she wouldn't move when Dabi needed the toilet, telling him that 'he should have went before getting on' when it was a bloody nine hour flight! It took every ounce of my being not to chuck her out of the plane window.
Thankfully, the flight attendants moved her when she complained that Dabi and I cuddling was 'too much'. If not, she would have been plummeting six thousand feet down.
So, after sleeping the choking jet lag off and freshening ourselves up, Dabi and I decided to have a little dinner out to begin our wonderful honeymoon to celebrate our wedding. Just a simple casual dinner, nothing too fancy, where we could relax and enjoy some decent food and plan what we could do during our honeymoon...
Well... besides the obvious~
Unlike Dabi, I used to visit America from time to time during my childhood whenever my father had work overseas. Uncle David would often take care of me alongside Melissa and we'd do everything and anything we could. So, walking around the streets felt like a second home. I knew the best restaurants, what way to go. I felt at peace, almost.
"Here we are," I hum, motioning toward the restaurant we encounter making Dabi smile gently and kiss my cheek, "Uncle David used to take Lissa and I here all the time when we we're kids,"
"Looks good," Dabi hums, inspecting the menu quickly before nodding and pulling me into the restaurant with a grin, the pair of us eager to get our hands on some actual grub after eating airport and airplane food for the last few hours, "Hey, table for two please,"
As the maître'd nods and grabs a couple of menus, I look around the restaurant that I'm so familiar with. It hasn't really changed much since I've been here to be fair. Booths with beautiful candles were to the side against the wall. It had a rather rustic decor. Dim lights to set the mood. It wasn't fancy or anything but it was formal.
Clearing my throat gently, I take a seat the booth the maître'd lead both Dabi and I. A smile playing on my lips as I run my fingers through my hair and sit on the plush seating of the booth, my mouth watering at the sight of the menu as I pick it up and grin playfully toward my husband who sticks his tongue out and looks over the menu with a hungry look in his eyes. His turquoise orbs shimmering with hunger as he looks toward me, chuckling as I bite my lip and blush gently.
It had been a while since Dabi and I actually had some proper quality time to ourselves. With wedding planning, work for me, looking after Hiro and sorting out everything in between, the only alone time we really had was when Dabi and I went to bed or when Hiro went to bed. Then again, Shoto would often stay over from time to time which meant Dabi and I couldn't have alone time as much as we wanted.
So having our honeymoon to ourselves with no interruptions is amazing!
As I look over the menu, my stomach gurgles in hunger. The delicious looking pictures of the meals the restaurant serves making my stomach whine in need and my tastebuds hum in anticipation. Juicy burger meals with enticing crispy sweet potato fries. Mouth watering pasta meals with delicious sauces and cheeses. Tempting fish meals of sushi or lobster or crab. Spicy and enticing Mexican meals with two to three chillis beside the meal title. A groan leaving my lips as I bite my lip, battling with myself as I look at each picture, wanting one thing but then thinking about another.
"What do you want babe?" Dabi asks looking toward me, grinning at my internal battle of what food I want. Laughing at my pain with a chuckle as I pout and whine at the menu, "Babe, if you can't decide we'll come again another time and you can have something else, we are on our honeymoon after all and we can spend as much money as we want,"
"I just don't know what I'm fancying... they all look too yummy," I whine, placing the menu back down onto the table and covering my eyes with a groan, a pout playing on my lips as Dabi snorts toward me, "Don't laugh at my suffering Toyaaaaa,"
"Why don't we have a platter?" Dabi offers, pointing toward the menu where there are multiple platters full of assortment of foods making me hum softly, "We could have one of the seafood platters? Or the themed ones?"
"The Mexican platter looks good," I hum, my mouth watering at the thought of having yummy spicy food, "Is that okay?... or we could have the Mediterranean one?"
"It's up to you babe, I'll have whatever," Dabi hums, chuckling as I sag against the plushness if the seat with a whine and purse my lips as I go back and forth between the platters before sighing in defeat, "Do you want me to pick?"
"Yeah," I hum, resting my chin in my hand as I watch Dabi order our meal with the waiter as well as some mozzarella sticks and cheesy garlic bread for appetisers, "Thank you T,"
Chuckling gently, with our food ordered, Toya runs his fingers over my knuckles and slowly draws circles on the back of my hand. His turquoise eyes flooding with love and adoration as he looks toward me while I send him a happy smile.
While waiting for our appetisers, Dabi's phone pings making me arch a brow as he gets it out and sets it on the table. A message from his mother flashing up on the screen making us smile between each other as he opens it up to reveal multiple pictures of what Hiro got up to while we were enduring a painfully long flight and jet lag. I couldn't help but coo at the picture of Hiro standing in the kitchen with huge oven mitts on his hands holding a tray of cookies. However, I couldn't help but laugh at the picture of Enji and Hiro fast asleep on the couch, Hiro curled up on the older males chest in his All Might onesie.
At least Hiro was having a good time. That's what mattered.
With Hiro spending two weeks without us, I couldn't help but feel nervous. I haven't spent that long without my baby ever. Ever since he was born, we haven't been separated. I guess losing Toya, I couldn't let Hiro leave my person unless I wanted to break down... but, we needed time apart. Hiro needed to be with friends and I needed to have time to myself and not stress over everything and anything.
I'm just glad Toya's here now...
Seconds later, our food arrives. My eyes widening in awe at the amount of food that's set down on the table. Two plates full of mozzarella sticks and cheesy garlic bread with funky dips. The big platter full of food is set down and my stomach instantly sings. A big hot plate of chicken sat in the centre of the platter with tortillas, salads, guacamole, salsa, sour cream and a plate of nachos. It was heaven!
Without a second thought, Dabi and I dig in. Dabi instantly diving for the nachos while I grab a tortilla and scoop some chicken onto it before adding salsa, cheese and some salad before wrapping it up and instantly delving into it. A giggle leaving my lips as sauce begins to drip down my hand making Dabi laugh as he crunches down on some nachos. The pair of us digging eagerly into the spicy food without a moment of hesitation.
With the food almost half eaten, I lazily chow down on some garlic bread before tilting my head as Dabi clears his throat to catch my attention. The male sends me a reassuring smile as I grab a mozzarella stick and eat it up with a happy smile.
"What's up?" I ask, watching as he nervously looks around before clearing his throat again and taking a deep breath, his eyes anxiously flitting from the food to me, "T? What's up?"
"About... having a second child," he begins, taking a deep breath before sending me a nervous smile as I arch a brow and nibble on a mozzarella stick, "I wanted to talk about it,"
"Okay," I hum, sipping at my drink before clearing my throat and tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, giving Dabi my full attention with a smile, "You don't have to force yourself, Toya, if you don't want one. I'm more than happy to just have Hiro,"
"No I really want another kid," Dabi explains rubbing the back of his neck with a nervous smile making me halt and look toward him with a small hint of shock, "I think having another kid would be great,"
"Really?" I ask incredulously, setting my drink down with an unbelievable smile playing across my lips as I giggle curtly to myself in shock before clearing my throat and humming. My heart exploding with warmth as I look toward him, "You really want another child?..."
"I do, I really do," Dabi admits with a genuine smile, chuckling as I lean back in the chair and shake my head with a big smile on my lips, "And this time, I won't leave. I want to be there for everything... through the pregnancy, the birth, everything,"
"Okay," I reply, giggling as he takes my hands in his and kisses each and every knuckle on the back of my hand, "I love you,"
"I love you more baby," he hums, sending me a smile as the waiter takes our food and we order our desserts without another thought, "So when shall we start?"
"How about tomorrow?" I ask, tilting my head with a giggle, watching as he grins to himself and nods, "But, one rule, we don't tell Hiro about this until we are a hundred percent sure that it's happening, okay? I just don't want to get his hopes up and then miscarriage... wait until I'm three months along at least,"
"Of course babe, hopefully this time it'll go smoothly because I'm here and you won't be as stressed," Dabi says reassuringly as he squeezes my hand gently, "I have a great idea to reveal it to Hiro, by the way,"
"I can't wait," I hum, giggling as he raises his eyebrows gently and admired the wedding ring on my finger. The male brushing his finger over the jewel encrusted into it before noticing my eyes moving away gently, "What?"
"You're looking off into space," Dabi points out, thanking the waiter as he sets down our desserts in front of us, "What's going on?"
Biting my lip nervously, I clear my throat and looking down in my lap as I debate whether or not to talk to him about dad. Considering he's my husband, I should talk to him about it... I mean, he's not a stranger to having a tense relationship with a parent (father to be exact) but... they're relationship is completely different to my relationship with my dad... After mulling it over, I nod to myself and sigh gently.
"Just... dad..." I explain, watching as Dabi tilts his head worried and eats his meal, "He's... it's like he's messing with my head... one minute he doesn't want to know me... then he wants to be in my life... then he's against who I love... and now... now he wants to be back... I — I don't... I don't know what to do anymore..."
"Don't give him the air time nor a time of day babe," Dabi says plainly, putting it as simply as he can making me look toward him worried, "Look, if he wanted to be in your life, he could have spent time with you during his time off. What did he do instead? Hm? He trained or he was doing some PR shit instead of raising you like he should have. My dad wasn't the best parent in the world, not by a long shot, but at least he still gave us time with him and still tried to build a relationship despite everything going on. Even now, he's number one and he's taking time off to build our relationship back up and he's been great with Hiro. Babe, I love you so much but your dad isn't worth getting worried over... you can have my parents,"
"Okay... I just... feel bad,"...
"You shouldn't babe, you're not the one who's at fault in this situation. Now don't worry, this is about us. I love you,"...
"I love you more babe,"...
