Chapter 26
It was so weird going back to normal after living, somewhat, wildly in a villain's apartment.
After three weeks of returning back from the kidnapping scare, I was straight back into work to help Class 1A with their upcoming studies and exams. Sorting out a lunchtime session with me to aid those in need of support, which consisted of Ashido, Kaminari, Kirishima, Sero and Sato as well as others who needed to brush up on a couple of topics. However, Bakugo wouldn't be seen dead in our revision sessions and often asked for one to one if he needed the extra help (which was completely understandable). The first years were now working with third years, leaving me to overlook their hero training during class.
From time to time, Hiro would come to U.A. to spend some time with Eri, keep her company and have some fun. They'd often stay in the teachers lounge with my father or with Present Mic. However, whenever the class had gym, Hiro and Eri would come down and watch the aspiring heroes work hard to become the best heroes they want to be. It is quite cute, I have to admit. Eri even baked a batch of cupcakes for Hiro the other day which made the little redhead jump for joy. So, in return, Hiro and I bought her a little charm bracelet.
Hiro is really sweet with her.
However, today, Hiro was spending the day with Dabi. Which felt really odd, after spending the past few months taking him to wherever I go so he was safe and I knew where he was. The boys wanting to catch up and have some well earned father - son bonding time. The pair planning on watching movies and playing video games. Dabi even offered to home school him until I find a kindergarten that I feel comfortable with and that I know will protect my baby from villain attacks. I could never be too careful, after all.
A small smile plays on my lips as I leave U.A. grounds with Shoto by my side. Ready to get home, get into my comfy clothes and snuggle up with my boyfriend and son to watch movies and cartoons. The heterochromic male beside me stood hunched over his phone as he texts Midoriya about the recent homework they've received. Getting a couple of notifications from a certain Yaoyorozu and some girl named Camie.
Not that I'm looking or anything.
Thankfully, despite the constant villain attacks 1A keep having, Aizawa and Nezu allowed Shoto to come and stay at my home whenever he wanted. Knowing my background as a hero, they trusted that he'd be safe with me as well as having All Might living with me too. So Shoto would alternate week after week, staying one week at the Alliance and the next week at my home. Mainly using the time at the Alliance for homework and projects so he could spend as much time as possible with his nephew.
"Hiro get up to much today?" Shoto asks as he pockets his phone, digging his hands in his pockets as we stroll down the sidewalk, heading toward my home.
"Not really, Dabi's still on house arrest so they couldn't exactly go and get ice cream," I reply, smiling gently as we turn a corner and cross the road, playing with the zip of my bag, "But Fuyumi and Natsuo came over with some goodies so I suppose they had a pig out,"
"No problems?" Shoto asks gently, looking toward me as I take a small, shaky breath and shake my head, "So he hasn't come over yet?"
"As far as I'm aware, no," I reply, sighing to myself as we stop at the traffic lights until it goes red for us to cross.
Unfortunately, due to the little argument between Enji and I, I've been on edge. I shouldn't let him get to me, I know that, but I can't help but fear the worst. There's that little ache of fear chipping away at my brain, telling me that he'll come over. That he'll find Dabi and attack him, or worse. I can't be at home all the time, I can't be there to stop anything. There's no way of telling what he'll do when he gets out of that hospital bed, after all. And he's supposedly discharged from hospital...
Which doesn't help my anxieties...
Shoto pulls me out of my thoughts as he rests a hand on my shoulder and squeezes it gently, for reassurance. I send him a small smile and giggle half heartedly, pressing a small kiss to his cheek as we walk down the road. The last final strip of pavement before getting home. On instinct, I instantly begin to fish for my house keys, wanting to have them in hand when we get to the door so we can get in as soon as possible. So I can see my little angel and my boyfriend as soon as possible. After finding my keys, I step onto the drive through, looking up at the door before freezing...
The door was open...
What the hell was going on? Gulping gently, I slowly get our bags under the influence of my quirk. Making them float toward the open window upstairs. As soon as I lift our bags into the house through one of the open windows with my quirk, Shoto, instantly, became on the offence. His shoulders tensing up as he curls his hands into fists, the pair of us taking slow steps toward the front door. I use my quirk to float myself, to lessen the noise, leaning against the wall of the hallway outside the living room.
"What's going on?" Shoto whispers softly toward me, staying outside the house, getting his hands ready to release whatever he needed to, watching as I lean toward the door slightly.
"You're not touching him! Get the fuck out of my house!" I hear Dabi yell, my eyes widening as I curl my hands into fists, my heart suddenly picking up its speed as I look toward Shoto, feeling extremely lightheaded, "(Y/n) told you to never come here! Leave!"
"Who are you to tell me what to do? I knew (Y/n) was a whore but I didn't realise she was that desperate to sleep with a villain of all things," I hear Enji reply, the heat radiating from the room making me break into a sweat, my heart almost stopping, "She was always an unfit mother, putting her son in danger and leaving him with an arsonist. I guess she was doing it to spite me,"
"It's your dad..." I whisper toward Shoto, staring at him with wide eyes as he gawks at me, edging closer toward me to snoop in on the conversation. The pair of us unable to find a solution as to what to do. Shoto grabbing my hand tightly to support me (and to prevent me from digging my nails into my palms), rubbing circles onto the back of my hand with his thumb, "Oh my god... please no..."
"It'll be fine, he won't do anything, he's just gotten out of hospital," Shoto murmurs, squeezing my hand gently for reassurance, "Natsuo and Yumi are there too, he wouldn't,"
"This is your father we're talking about Shoto, he almost hurt Hiro at the hospital," I reply shaking, squeezing my eyes shut as I rest my head against the wall, trying not to break into a panic attack, "Please no..."
"He's not a villain," Natsuo says toward his father, my heart in my throat as Enji scoffs toward his son, "He hasn't hurt Hiro, unlike you. Don't think (Y/n) hasn't told us what you did to her!"
"She's delusional, just like your mother," Enji hums, I could hear the smirk dripping from his words. Beside me, Shoto was seething. He never liked it when anyone talked bad about me or his mother. I almost had to yank him back into place so he didn't blow our cover, "I should have sent her to the hospital the day after Hiro was born. Hiro would have turned out much better,"
"You aren't allowed to talk about her," Dabi seethes, almost growling, the anger radiating off him could almost choke someone.
"Don't be mean about my mama!" I hear Hiro yell at him, my heart suddenly stopping. The carpet from underneath my feet almost giving out as I stare at the wall opposite me in horror, "I hate you!"
Hiro was in there! Hiro could get hurt!
"We need to do something, and we need to do it now," I whisper urgently toward Shoto who nods in agreement, rubbing my back as I take a deep breath to centre myself (my baby boys life could be at risk, I couldn't let my emotions get the best of me), "Hiro could get hurt..."
"Not only that but Natsuo and Fuyumi are in there," Shoto says worried, gulping anxiously as I peek in slightly. My eyes widening as Natsuo and Fuyumi are at the back of the room, backs against the wall, eyes blown with fear. Fuyumi's hands shaking. Natsuo almost ready to fight. Furious with his father. On the other side, stood Enji. His back toward me, facing (who I can only assume) is Dabi holding my baby boy, "What do we do?"
"I — I don't know..." I stammer softly, leaning against the wall as I watch them, catching Fuyumi and Natsuo's eyes making their breath hitch, I slowly mouth toward them, "Are you both okay?"
"Yeah..." Natsuo mouths while Fuyumi nods, keeping their eyes on the Number One Hero, Fuyumi straightening her back as she grips onto her brothers hand tightly. Their eyes training on their father while I look around the room, trying to formulate some sort of plan.
"Give him to me," Enji says, ominously calm, my heart almost breaking out of my rib cage as I stare at his back, my nails digging into the doorway, "Hiro has no place here, neither do you. I pay for this house, I don't want lowlife scum in this place,"
"You're not laying a finger on my son," Dabi growls toward him. Everyone freezing in place as Dabi glares at him, Hiro being the only thing keeping him from attacking him, "Get the fuck out before I make you!"
"Your son?!" Enji booms making Hiro squeak, the boy clutching his father tightly as Enji shakes his head, chuckling bitterly toward him, "You're not his guardian,"
"Neither are you!" Dabi hisses toward him, a small gasp leaving my lips as Enji tries to grab Hiro and Dabi avoids him, holding Hiro close to him, "Get the hell away from me! Away from my son! Away from my girlfriend! Get the fuck away!"
Jesus, don't anger it!
"Very well then, I'll take him by force," Enji seethes, his hand beginning to fire up, raising it toward them both making Fuyumi and Natsuo shriek toward him.
"Dad! No!" Fuyumi shrieks, wriggling in Natsuo's grip as he holds her back to protect her, "You'll hurt him!"
Suddenly, it was as if I were a woman possessed. My breathing suddenly stopped. My heart in my stomach, dropping like a stone. My legs working on their own. Sprinting into the room, ducking under his arm and pushing Dabi and Hiro out the way into the couch. Trying to protect them both. Knowing how terrified Dabi could have been. Knowing how scared Hiro must be. Dabi holding onto Hiro tightly as he crashes into the plush pillow, narrowly missing Enji's attack by a hairline.
And hitting me instead...
A shriek leaves my lips as a searing heat pushes against my arm and chest. My top burning under the heat. My skin coming into contact with the immense amount of fire, my form collapsing onto the floor. It was as if my whole body was on fire. Skin beginning to char and burn. My breath yanking out of my throat as I slam into the floor. Arms shaking. Chest heaving. Eyes watering. Phasing in and out of consciousness.
"Mama!" Hiro shrieks, his turquoise eyes blown with fear and worry, tears beginning to bunch up in the corner of his eyes, "Mama!"
"(Y/n)!" Shoto yells, rushing over and pushing Enji out the way, Fuyumi and Natsuo in tow, kneeling by my weak form, "Stay with me, (Y/n), stay with me,"
"We need cold water," Natsuo orders Fuyumi, the girl hesitantly nodding and rushes toward the kitchen while Natsuo kneels by my form and rolls his sleeves up, "Keep your eyes open, (Y/n), stay with us,"
"Get the fuck out!" Dabi screams at Enji, letting Hiro scuttle toward my quivering form, the redhead snuggling into my stomach and holding onto me tightly, whimpering into my burnt clothes. Dabi saw red. You could see the pure rage flying across his face as he, himself, throws a fiery punch toward Enji, square in the jaw chasing him out the house, "Get out! Get out!"
"Mama," Hiro whimpers, looking up at me worried as I lean into Shoto's lap with a small sob, the pain and the heat combined becoming too much for me, the boy crying, "Is mama okay?"
"Is she okay?! Tell me she's okay Natsuo!"...
