Chapter 16

"Daddy... when can we go to the park?" Hiro asks, pulling at Dabi's shirt gently as they cuddle on the couch, watching some random cartoon playing on the tv, resting his head against the elders chest with a giggle.

"We can go later, if you want," Dabi hums, kissing his forehead gently as he rubs his back, resting his cheek against the mop of red hair on his sons head, "That sound alright, babe?"

"Yeah," I reply, whipping the cake batter in the kitchen with a small hum, letting the ingredients combine with each other, the smell of vanilla entering my nose making my tastebuds water, "Wanna lick the bowl, Hiro?"

"Yeah!" Hiro squeals with a giggle, clapping his hands with a smile, the birthday badge on his top shining brightly.

Today was Hiro's fifth birthday. However, it was more than a birthday to the now five year old, it was the first ever birthday he was spending with his father. He ran into our bedroom this morning, more excited than ever, squealing about how it was his birthday. Dabi playing it off like he didn't know, when we both knew it was since Hiro couldn't stop counting down the days until he turned five. Dabi even cooked breakfast.

Which is something that I didn't even realise he could do! He never cooked for me once when we were dating!

Dabi even went all out to celebrate his sons birthday. Wanting to make this a birthday to remember, wanting to make up for the birthdays he missed. He bought so many gifts that I swear Hiro has enough toys to see him through the rest of his childhood. Even Twice bought him a couple of presents too, some from Toga too (Dabi wouldn't allow her in the apartment though). He bought a huge helium balloon in the shape of the number 5, hung streamers and banners around the apartment. Really trying to make it as amazing as possible for Hiro.

It was a milestone after all.

Dabi smiles softly, kissing Hiro's forehead gently before heading to the kitchen, wrapping his arms around my waist from behind, resting his head on my shoulder as I pour the cake batter into a cake tin. A small laugh leaves my lips as Dabi sticks his finger into the bowl and licks the batter up with a hum. A smile on his lips as he kisses my cheek gently, his turquoise eyes looking toward the cookbook I managed to find under all the shit he has piled in the storage cupboard.

"Come lick the bowl then Hiro, before daddy does," I call out, opening the oven carefully and sliding the tin inside, shutting the oven tightly while setting the timer on for twenty five minutes, giggling as Hiro teeters in his face pouting as he sees Dabi licking the bowl

"Daddy! That's my job!" Hiro pouts, crossing his arms making Dabi chuckle, picking him up with a smile, kissing his cheek, "It's my cake,"

"It's just so yummy," He replies with a smile, handing him a spoon for him to scoop the remaining batter, helping Hiro lick the bowl, chuckling as he gets some batter on his nose, wiping it away with his thumb

Hiro smiles brightly, sitting on the kitchen floor with the bowl in between his legs, licking the bowl as he watches the cake slowly rise in the oven. Dabi wrapping his arms back around me, burying his face into my shoulder with a smile, rubbing circles on my hips while I begin to wash up, a giggle leaving my lips as Dabi tickles my sides. Peppering kisses over my cheeks and neck.

Usually, for Hiro's birthday, we'd be over the Todoroki household. Fuyumi would cook a huge English breakfast. Shoto and Natsuo would give him cuddles and play around with him with his new toys. I'd bake a cake. Enji would be at work, more often than not, but he'd still drop by and give Hiro the biggest present ever (trying to outdo all of us). Then we'd visit Rei in hospital before going back home and having takeaway.

Personally, I think Hiro prefers this over doing anything else. I've never seen him so happy...

Smiling gently, I pull the cake out of the oven as the timer ends, the grin widening as I notice Dabi eyeing the cake up. Hiro giggles, finishing the bowl and placing it on the side, going on his tiptoes to do so, his eyes lighting up as I put the cake on the cooling rack.

"Ooh," Hiro marvels, staring at the cake, jumping up and down with a cheer, giggling happily, "Cake! Cake!"

"Easy tiger, we have to let it cool down first," I tell him, ruffling his hair with a smile, pressing a kiss to his forehead, "Why don't we go to the park? Then when we get home, mama can get the frosting and make it pretty,"

"Yeah!" Hiro cheers with a giggle, running out of the room to put his shoes on, Dabi arching a brow at me with a smile

"It's still daytime, how do you expect to go to the park without getting caught?" Dabi asks, crossing his arms with a smirk, chuckling as I wrap my arms around his neck, kissing his cheek, "And trying to seduce me won't work,"

"Ha! You wish I was!" I tease, smiling softly, playing with the black strands of his hair, "Isn't there a park nearby? Twice said it was abandoned and that no one goes there, come on, it'll be fun,"

"What do I get if I let this happen?" Dabi asks, obviously coining for something, I arch a brow as I hum softly, looking around the room thinking of something, "Well?"

"Hmm... you don't get to sleep on the couch," I reply with a giggle, turning around to saunter off before shrieking with laughter as he pulls me back, attacking me with kisses, "Okay! Okay! Fine! We can! We can!"

"Damn right, we will," he purrs, kissing my cheek before letting me slide out of the kitchen with a giggle, tapping my ass gently with a smirk, "Teasing me like that, you bitch,"

"Daddy! Mama said no bad words!" Hiro scolds was he was already waiting by the door, his shoes on, his sweater wrapped around him while he waits for Dabi and I to get ourselves ready

"Sorry, buddy," Dabi hums, kissing his forehead before unlocking the door, picking Hiro up in his arms and grabbing a cap from the coat rack, covered his mop of red hair, "To keep the sun out of your eyes, buddy,"

Hiro giggles, snuggling into Dabi while I follow them out of the apartment, holding a small bag with my first aid kit inside just incase Hiro hurt himself. Heading down the rickety stairs of the apartment building, a small shriek leaving my lips as I see a rat scurry past. Dabi and Hiro bursting into laughter as I shiver and cringe, climbing over the banister and using my quirk to help me get down to the bottom. Floating down to the floor, I take a deep breath, scurrying out of the building glaring toward Dabi who laughs.

"You live in a shithole! We are moving out when this is over!" I grumble, following Dabi through the streets toward the park with a huff, "This is like a nightmare,"

"Oh hush, I'm so sorry I don't live in a golden castle with unicorns," Dabi hums, setting Hiro on his feet as we enter the small park, the boys eyes lighting up as he instantly rushes to the slide, "Your Highness,"

Smiling softly, I roll my eyes, sitting down on the bench, folding my bad leg over my good leg, watching Hiro play around in the park. His grin widening each and every time, a giggle leaving his lips as he slides down the slide. Dabi slides down next to me, wrapping his arm around my shoulders, letting my head rest on him as we watch our son play around.

This is what I wanted after all this time...

To go out. To have family time. To cuddle up somewhere and watch our little boy play and have fun. To be happy. To finally be a whole family and not falling apart at the seams.

I was cut out of my thoughts as a red feather gently slides next to me, gently nicking my arm making me frown and look toward where the feather came from. Dabi holding me tighter against him, glaring toward the owner who sends him a warm and friendly grin.

"Well, well, well, look at you... finally a little family again," Keigo hums with a smile making me tilt my head in confusion as he slides next to me, batting Dabi with his wing making the older male groan and threaten to singe his wings, "Got to her before I could, damn you,"

"Wha... Huh? What's going on?" I ask tilting my head with a frown, looking back and forth, between hero and villain, "How are you not attacking him and how do you know who he is?"

"I knew," Keigo beams with a smile, wrapping his arm around my shoulders, ignoring the death glare sent by Dabi, "Toya, or Dabi now, told me to keep an eye on you, I knew all along,"

"You knew?! Why didn't you tell me, you oversized chicken!" I shriek, hitting him upside the head making him laugh, shaking his head with a grin

"Couldn't let you know straight away, now, could I?" Keigo replies, winking toward me while biting his lip, "You and I still have a connection, after all,"

"I'm going to roast your ass," Dabi mutters rubbing the bridge of his nose with a sigh, I could already tell he was growing irritated, "Flirting with her like that, you're lucky I didn't kill you,"

"You love me, really, Dabi," Keigo hums, waving toward Hiro who excitedly jumps into his arms with a squeal, "Happy birthday, little man! How old are you today? Ten?"

"No. I'm five, Uncle Hawks!" Hiro chirps showing him five fingers with a giggle, "Daddy got me loads of presents!"

"He did, huh?" Keigo hums, ruffling his hair with a smile, poking his nose before letting Hiro rush back to the park, "I'll get him a present later,"

"You don't have to, Keigo, he got plenty off Dabi," I reply with a smile, interlinking my fingers with Dabi, kissing the black haired males cheek, "How is everything?"

"Utter chaos, if I'm honest, gorgeous," Hawks begins, laughing as Dabi sends him a look before waving him away, "Though the biggest news still, is All Might having a daughter and managing to keep her out of the media for so long,"

"How is dad?... is he okay?" I ask worried, biting my lip anxiously as Keigo rubs my back gently, guilt wracking my brain at the mention of my father, "He's okay, right? Nothing bad's happened right?"

"He's fine, (Y/n), I promise," Keigo reassures me, sending me a smile before giving Dabi a look, communicating with him in some way before turning his attention back to me, "The little Todoroki hasn't actually left your place, he's slept in your bed a couple times too, Endeavor - san is losing hair over it too,"

"Oh my god... Shoto..." I hum, covering my chest gently as I look down, "Is he okay?"

"Yeah, he failed his Licensing Exam... I think they're boiling it down to the fact that he lost you and Hiro in one day and he may have argued with some guy from another school," Keigo explains, shrugging gently, "That's what Endeavor says anyway,"

"And how is... he then?" I ask, gulping gently as I lean into Dabi, interlocking our fingers

"Ever since he found out you're All Might's daughter, he's been on edge," Hawks replies, humming softly as he rubs his chin, "God knows why,"

"Right... are you sure dads okay?" I ask, looking toward Hawks who chuckles and kissing my cheek making Dabi groan and swat at him

"You're so adorable, (Y/n)," Hawks hums and pushes to his feet, "Right, I gotta shoot, got patrol in five, I'll see you lovebirds later,"

"Damn bird," Dabi hums, holding me against him with a sigh, kissing me gently making me giggle against his lips, the green eyed monster rearing its head, "He's getting too comfortable around you, too comfortable for my liking,"

"Oh, shush, he's been like that since we've known each other," I reply, smiling as we get to our feet, ready to head home with Hiro running toward us with a giggle, "Come on buddy, let's go finish that cake!"

Hiro squeals in delight as he holds both of our hands, skipping between us as we walk back to the apartment. Every so often we'd lift him up as we walk making him burst into a fit of laughter, his red mop of hair sparking with flames every so often.

This had to be Hiro's best birthday ever...
