Chapter 14
With Dabi still not returning home, I decided to give this hovel he calls home a good clean. I couldn't let my son live in such a shit hole, his mother wouldn't be too impressed with the state of his place. Crumpled up wrappers of chocolate bars, instant noodles and many other foods littered the floor. Plates that had last nights dinner on sat waiting to be washed. Holding stale food on top. Not only that but the carpet needed a good hoover, his sofa had seen better days. His tv was probably the only thing that looked half decent. Everything else seemed like they were found in a dumpster. Beer bottles occupied the coffee tables and his bedside table, cigarette packets and the odd cigarette littering his bedside table too.
I'm going to have to ask him about those cigarettes later.
Groaning gently, I open, what I assume, is a storage cupboard. Biting back the scream as a huge ass spider crawls toward me, squealing as it darts my way. Hiro shrieks at the size of it, holding onto his All Might action figure gently.
"Mama! Get it out!" Hiro shrieks, hiding under his blanket, as I look around, scrambling for something before grabbing a broom, shrieking as I bash the spider with it, closing my eyes tightly as I bash it a couple of times, "Is it dead?"
"I — uh... I — I think so, sweetie," I reply shakily, gently assessing the broom, cringing at the splat on the broom, gently lifting the dead spider off with my broom and forcing open a window before chucking it out, shivering as I close it shut, "Oh my god that was terrifying... please, please, please let there be no rats!"
"This place is dirty, mama," Hiro complains, shivering as I walk back in, the thought of more spiders setting us on edge, "How does Mr. Dabi live like this?"
"I have no clue, sweetie, but take this as a lesson baby," I reply, brushing my hands down on my sweatpants, "Always clean your home or there'll be nasty surprises,"
"Can I help?" Hiro asks, tilting his head, "Pretty please?"
"Of course, darling, do you wanna collect the rubbish and put it in the bi — oh my god! Does he ever take out his trash?!" I say exasperated, rubbing my temple at the sight of his bin, it was overflowing it was as if time had stopped and everything that remained was trash! How the hell could he live like this?! God, I hope Enji wasn't this bad when he was younger! Rei definitely had her work cut out for her if so.
He's such a slob!
"We're gonna have to get our hands dirty for this one, baby boy," I hum, ruffling his red hair as he giggles gently, twisting my hair into a messy bun, "Lets clean this dump,"
"Yes, mama," Hiro cheers, smiling happily as I head into the kitchen
"First things first, trash," I hum, lifting the overflowing trash bag with my telekinesis, twirling my fingers around so the top ties off into a knot, "Now... where to put it... we can't exactly leave..."
"Why not out the window?" Hiro asks, pointing to the same window that I chucked the spider out of, and toward the french doors, "Or the door?"
"That's a good idea, sweetie," I hum smiling before grabbing the rusty key from the side, gently opening the french doors onto the balcony, letting the trash bag float out of the apartment, I gently take a step out, leaning over the balcony as I let it drop into a dumpster, "There's that sorted!"
Humming softly, I lock the french doors back tightly shut before heading back into the storage cupboard, pulling out a vacuum cleaner that is possibly close to falling to peaces. Hiro giggles softly, gently picking up food wrappers and putting them in the trash bag I put in the bin. Smiling softly, I plug the cleaning device into the wall before clicking it on and beginning to suck up the dirt in the hoover.
Within a matter of seconds, only doing one room, the compartment where the dirt is stored already fills up. The amount of shit in his carpets was madness.
How did he let it get so bad?...
Before I could turn it back on, a large shriek rips through the air. My blood running cold. A large bright light filling his bedroom, making me shriek as I dart toward the room.
"Hiro!" I yell, pushing the door shut before gasping as Hiro stands there, his body encased in blue flames, his hand shaking as he tries to get it off, "Oh my god..."
"Mama! Help!" He shrieks staring at me worried, "Get it off!"
"Sweetie, sweetie, breathe," I hum, gently taking a step forward, making him squeal and shake his head taking a step back, "Sweetie, it's your quirk... it's your quirk.. are you hurt? Is it hurting you?"
"I don't wanna hurt you..." Hiro squeaks, whimpering, the flames dancing across his clothes, gently singeing them but not burning them, his arms weren't even burning, "I'm scared mama..."
"It's okay, sweetie, let me help," I hum, kneeling down onto the floor, gently taking a deep breath as I hold my hands out, "It's okay, take my hands for me, I'll help,"
"I don't wanna... mama..." Hiro whimpers, staring at me worried, his hair dipping from his vibrant red to a light blue colour, his hair dancing like flames, "Whats happening?"
"Sweetie, it's your quirk... it's like your daddy's quirk," I say smiling softly, gently taking his hands in mine, they weren't hot flames either, they were cold, "You're not hurting me... okay? It's all over your body... like a torch sweetie... we'll control it but you have to breathe and calm down for me okay?"
Hiro nods gently, his eyes wet with tears as I gently rub circles on his hands, taking deep breaths for him to copy. My little boy copying me as I gently slide my hand up his arm, my quirk gently engulfing his flames and making them disappear.
"(Y/n)!" I hear Dabi yell, he must have gotten home then, "Hiro?"
"I'm in here," I say, looking toward Hiro who whimpers softly, "Shh, baby, deep breaths,"
Dabi rushes in, I hear him gasp gently at the sight of Hiro. After all, the boy possessed his quirk. Hiro looks up at Dabi petrified, his whimpers clearly shaking as he pulls his hands away from me, shaking his head.
"Hiro, it's okay," Dabi says softly, taking my place in front of him with a small breathe, "Look at me... watch this?"
Hiro sniffles, wiping his eyes as he watches Dabi. Watching as he gently closes his palm before opening it again, showing him a small blue flame dancing across his palm gently. The little red head staring at him in awe, his eyes widening slightly as he looks up at him.
"Daddy..." Hiro mutters staring up at him, obviously listening to the fact that I told him that his father had a similar quirk to his, "Are... are you my daddy?"
"Yeah, buddy... I'm your daddy," he says smiling softly, chuckling as Hiro runs into his arms and holds onto him tightly, burying his face into his chest crying as his flames slowly dwindle away, Dabi holding onto him tightly with a huge grin, kissing his cheek, "I wanted to tell you sooner but maybe this was the right time,"
"So you're not dead?" Hiro asks, looking up at the male, tilting his head softly as he plays with his jacket, "I thought papa Enji said..."
"He says a lot of things, buddy," Dabi hums, kissing his forehead as Hiro looks up at him with sparkling eyes, "I know I look nothing like I used to, but I am, I am your daddy,"
Hiro giggles softly, looking up at Dabi with utter glee. His hair slowly dying down and going back to its original red colour. Gently pressing his hand against Dabi's cheek with a smile, giggling as Dabi presses his forehead against his sons. You couldn't miss the huge grin playing on Dabi's face as he holds the boy close.
"You're not gonna go again... are you?" Hiro asks, tilting his head as I lean against Dabi, kissing his cheek
"I ain't going anywhere, you're stuck with me forever," Dabi hums, rubbing his back as Hiro snuggles into his back, "You won't have to worry about that and I'll help you with your quirk okay? It's not that scary once you get used to it,"
"Thank you, daddy," Hiro says smiling, kissing his cheek gently, "Mama killed a huge spider earlier,"
"Huh? She did?" Dabi asks arching a brow as I nod gently, "Thought you were scared of spiders, babe,"
"I am, you live in a pig sty," I say, cringing as I remember the poor fate I had given the spider, "I have half a mind to make you clean this shit hole,"
"Yes, mom," he mutters chuckling, pushing himself to his feet with Hiro in his arms, "Come on buddy, let's go eat,"
"What's for dinner?" He asks tilting his head as I follow them with a smile
"Whatever you want," he says and chuckles as Hiro replies with a chorus of 'chicken nuggets', "Alright, you go play, mama and daddy will make you dinner,"
Hiro nods giggling as he teeters to the couch, smiling as I pop on some cartoons for him. Dabi and I heading toward the kitchen, sending each other a smile as I shut the door, leaning against it with a giggle. His arms wrapping around my waist as I wrap my arms around his neck, shrieking with laughter as he twirls me around the kitchen. His lips meet mine for a split second before he pulls away.
"How was your meeting?" I ask, giggling as he litters kisses over my face and jaws, "That tickles! Dabi!"
"Meeting was fine..." he says with a sigh, resting his head on my shoulder with a smile, "The guy was a proper clean freak but he was fucking strong... we lost someone too..."
"Oh no... who was it?" I ask, gently tangling my fingers in his hair with a small hum, "Anyone I met?"
"The girl with the magnet quirk," he explains, humming softly, "Magne,"
"I'm sorry baby, I'm sure you did everything you could," I reply kissing his cheek softly
"I don't care who I lose, as long as it isn't you or my little boy, I couldn't care less,"...
"What about your siblings and your mom?"...
"Them too,"...
