Jessica held Danny's hand while she waited for the ambulance panicking and checking his pulse every few minutes.

"Danny baby, wake up please. I need you."

He groaned and tried to sit up.

"No baby lay back down, your neck may be injured."

The ambulance soon arrived and helped immediately. As they loaded him into the vehicle they pushed her back.

"You can't come with us ma'am. It's a liability."

She burst into tears and ran to the truck, slipping in the mud as she did so. She looked in the rear view mirror at herself and grimaced.

Her hair was out of place and her eyes were swollen.

She followed the ambulance, her elbow propped on the door as her hand held her head.

"I couldn't make it without him."

They rushed him back and she was forced to sit in the waiting room, the baby kicked wildly as she sat there.

A woman walked over to her and offered her a cup of water.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome. How far are you?"

"22 weeks tomorrow." She looked up smiling softly.

She paced in the waiting room. She'd clipped her hair up, the loose strands framing her face as she sipped on her coffee.

The doctor walked out of the OR room.

"Good evening, Mrs Huston. Your husband will be okay, he shattered his arm and we had to go into emergency surgery, his collarbone seems to be fractured too."

"When can I go see him?"

"He's awake and waiting for you."

She breathed a sigh of relief and followed the doctor in to his room.
