Sleep drugged

I slowly landed on my bedroom floor before reaching for my bed. So freaking tired.

Before I went home, I headed straight to the grocery and bought some food my grandma asked me to. Then I went to Mr. Simons, a mechanic, to check my car since it was a bit old it has to be in a complete maintenance.

I just lied down on the floor with my eyes closed hearing my breaths go in and out, until I suddenly heard a low vibratory mumble. A fluffy thing hits me on the side of face as it rubbed its head unto my ear, tickling me. I fondled Sally, while she purred continuously.

Meanwhile, a message tone resonated in my room that was actually coming from my phone. Taking it from my pocket, I glimpsed at the contact name of Mrs. Andrews, requested by the future wife of Mr. Nathan Andrews, Hailey. Ek.

Mrs. Andrews: Tell me, I'm still Mrs. Andrews, and you did not change my contact name.

I'm still Mrs. Andrews.. <

I replied to her. Golly, she's so obssessed with Nathan..

Mrs. Andrews: Not you, me!

Okayyyyy... <

Mrs. Andrews: Yesss! Well, I just wanna ask how are you doing? I went home earlier because Stephan asked me to come with him to the bike shop where he quoted it an "emergency" -.-

I'm good. Everything went fine. <

Except for Chase... <

Mrs. Andrews: OMFG!! YOU CUT HIS BALLS ALREADY???

Well, no. Not even close.. Sadly. But! Principal Brown gave him a pink slip, detention for three days. LOL! <

Mrs. Andrews: Lmao! But admit it, cutting someone else's balls is exciting.

Jeez, it's not even a little bit exciting. It's disgusting and inhumane. Also disgusting ASF! And, please do stop with the "cutting balls" line. You knew it's not going to happen. <

Mrs. Andrews: Bummer.. I just finished cleaning the chainsaw.

You did not just do that! <

Mrs. Andrews: Seriously Nikki, where would I get a chainsaw?

That's what I thought. <

Anyways, I gotta go. See you tomorrow! <

Mrs. Andrews: Sure, see ya'!

After tapping the send button, I stood up carrying Sally with me. I gently put her down on my bed as I plopped myself thereafter. Staring at my bland ceiling with four round LED lights attached from each corners, just made me feel sleepy. I nuzzled my face on the pillow, smelling the sweet fragrance of washing detergent as I let myself drown on a magical world of dreams.

A beeping sound from my clock, woke me up from my slumber, as I pondered about the time. Perking my eyes open, I sluggishly glanced at the clock that reads five o'clock in the morning. With the thought of having too much sleep just made me feel exhausted than having not enough sleep. After releasing a heavy sigh, I stood up and walked my way through the bathroom while I unconsciously rubbed my bum before grabbing my towel hanging on the rack.

Clicking the lights on, I looked at the mirror and leaned forward, scrutinizing my face and teeth. After that, I grabbed my toothbrush and a cool minty toothpaste that sometimes makes me wanna swallow a slight portion of it. I brushed my teeth, washed my face and took my time in the shower. No rush.

Twenty minutes later, the fine air humidified as sprinkles of water danced with it, and the clear mirror earlier moistened up. I wiped the blurry mirror before swirling up a towel on my hair, then exited the bathroom wearing my white robe with pink outlines thereafter.

I came in contact with the sun rising from its tomb out of the open window, and gradually traced down from the sky to the green leaves on the trees turning into orange.

Fall? I spun my head around and briefly stared at my closet remembering where my floral scarf was. It was a gift Hailey gave me on my sweet sixteen. It was the scarf I ran into when we decided to go for a window shopping.

I opened my closet and searched for my floral scarf, and fortunately I found it not less than two minutes. I took it and grabbed a white knitted sweater, black leggings, knee-high boots and donned them. Casting a glimpsed on the mirror, I looked at my wall clock that now reads seven o'clock. I took my bag and exited the room, heading downstairs.

"Good morning sweetheart!" My grandma greeted as soon as she sees me coming down the stairs.

"Hey!" I sang cheerfully.

Grandma smiled, "You were sleeping soundly last night so we didn't bother waking you up for dinner."

"Yeah, that's fine."

Grandpa was sleeping on the couch, snoring with a newspaper covering his face. I walked to the living room and dropped my bag on an empty couch then walked back to the kitchenette to help her serve breakfast.

"I'll do it." I offered, picking up the plates and carefully putting them on the table.

"Okay, here you go." Grandma spoke, serving pancakes with maple syrup on top.

The sight in front of me just made me feel hungrier, a tower of three pancakes with butter on top and a trickling syrup. Breakfast was most certainly appreciated, but not at times of rushing to school. And fortunately, I wasn't in that situation right now. I could just think for a minute that it was Saturday, but reality would hit me once I gulp down the last slice of pancake.

It's Tuesday.

"Early than usual. What have you eaten?" Hailey asked, suprisingly as she noticed that I was already inside the room earlier before her.

"I took too much drug." I deadpanned.

Hailey laughed as she took the seat next to me. "By the way... My dad invited you for dinner tonight." She said while placing her bag on her lap.

"Wow. What's the special occasion?" I asked, turning my head to look at Hailey while I crossed my leg to the other.

"Nu-uh." She answered, shaking her head sideways.

Hailey's dad never asked me to join them for dinner, unless it was something. I gazed at her searching for an answer and raising a brow.

"I invited you.." She answered gloomily, taking out a dull and arid math textbook from her bag.

"Was it Daniella?" I asked.

"Yeah, she will be there for dinner. Dad invited her. Stephan is out for work... I just don't feel being alone with dad and Daniella. She gives me the creeps." She sighed heavily.

Hailey's mom Isabela, passed away after she gave birth to her. In the middle of her labor, the doctor announced that she was having a heart attack. This case prohibits a female to give birth as the chances of survival highly depends on the severity of the heart ailment. After a couple of hours, they claimed Hailey the survivor, but her mom.

Daniella, on the other hand, was Hailey's dad girlfriend. They met two years ago. Even if Hailey didn't grow with her mom, it never was favorable to her hearing that she will be having a new mom.

"I understand Hailey. I'll join you on your dinner." I said, smiling.

Suddenly, Mr. Stone came in looking like he has been chasing something. I looked at the time and it was already seven forty two. Ooo so he's actually been chasing the time.

"Good morning, class! Sorry, I'm late. Kindly get your textbooks and turn them on page twenty three." He commanded, while placing his stuffs on top of his desk. "Answer the exercises from A to C, and as I call your names say present." Mr. Stone said as he started dictating names of the students.

My surname was White so I would probably be on the last set.

I started answering the exercises and hoped that I would be able to make them before time.

"Ace." Mr. Stone started until...

"Thompson." "Absent."

"Wells." Mr. Stone continued, "Here!"

This is my cue. "White."

"Present!" I answered as the list continued.

"Pssst!" Hailey whispered while poking me on my arm with her pen and I tilted my head slightly to look at her.

"What?" I silently asked while I glimpsed over to Mr. Stone who had been flipping the pages of his textbook while scribbling down notes on his pad.

"Have you answered number six on exercise B?" She asked, almost mouthing the words to avoid earning attention from Mr. Stone.

But I quickly looked away from Hailey when I saw Mr. Stone stood up at the corner of my eye. I felt paralyzed by a minute and could only hear my heart pumped blood in and out of my veins. Glimpsing on my book, I began counting back on my fingers.

Why can't math solve his own problems? I groaned, focusing my eyes on the multitudinous numbers on my book as I tried to analyze the equation.

"Nikki!" Hailey whispered once again giving me a questioning look.

"What?" I mouthed, lowering my head down completely blocking Mr. Stone in sight.

Hailey pointed on her paper, realizing what she meant, "Oh."

I shook my head in response, and silently whispering a no, while she showed me an upset face before turning her head on the other side, away from me.

Well, now you're seeing the other side of Hailey which made me paranoid.

I went back on my paper and computed for the answer in which I hoped were accurate. Answering problems, I skipped a few difficult equations and went on to finishing the exercises for fifteen minutes less.

Hailey poked me again with her pen while she casted a glance over to Mr. Stone after she looked back on me.

"What?" I mouthed as I grimaced at her. She's keeping me from finishing my exercises!

Hailey rolled a paper travelling towards me. But before taking it, I made a quick look over to Mr. Stone who has been tapping on his calculator.

What? He's using a calculator?! I thought shaking my head in disbelief.

I opened the crampled paper and saw a note saying, "I ❤ Nath-Nath" and below written, Hailey's name.

Eww, what? I glanced over to Hailey sending her a confused look but she gave me a thumbs up instead.

After our first class, I asked Hailey about the note I received a minute ago.

"Those are answers, stupid. Haven't you copied them?" She whispered.

"No? I mean, no. And I'm never gonna do that. Also, how?" I questioned, keeping up with her through the crowded hallway.

"What do you mean how? I'm helping you out, since I can't let you fail a subject." She explained.

"Oh, so does this look like answers to you?" I asked, lifting the paper to her face.

Before she responded, she quickly took it from my hands, "Where'd you get this? This is too personal!" She whined.

"That's the paper you gave me, Hailey." I non chalantly spoke.

"Oh god! I'm sorry! Wait, tell me you haven't took a picture of this yet, posted on facebook and tagged Nathan!"

"Nope, not yet." I smiled, lightly tapping her shoulder.

"No, promise me to not let Nathan know this... Okay?" She asked, pulling out her pinky finger while I stared at it. "Do our pinky swears!" Hailey added.

"Whatever." I swatted my hand up in the air, chuckling.

"Hey, Nikki! I'm serious! Pleaseeeee!" Hailey cried, pacing behind me as she tugs my bag.
