Getting ready

"So, have you asked Chase if Nathan is single? Or, have you already planned the setting of when and where Nathan and I would confess our feelings for one another?-- But, just make sure no on will abduct me and lock me in a room with him, like what Chase did to you..." Hailey paused, when she noticed how I reacted to what she mentioned with my eyebrows crimped.

"Sorry, I'm just saying. I mean, that idea of Chase is very uncool. Also, I want something that is formally done in a decent place. Like, perhaps a date?-- Oh! How about a double date? We can all go out tonight with you guys!" She blabbed, as she playfully slapped my shoulder.

Double date?

I suddenly stopped on my tracks and shook my head. "Noooooooo. No no no no no..."

"What? W--" Hailey protested while I cut her off with a whine.

"Hailey, you can't go!"

"Why not? That would be fun, for sure!" She shrieked with joy, giving me a look I would hate to ruin.

"I'm so sorry, Hailey. It can't be done. But, I can promise you that after this night with Chase, I'll set a date for you and Nathan... Just not now, okay?" I responded with a smile, trying to cheer her a bit after letting her down.

Her face melted with a frown, "Well, okay but, a promise is a promise?"

"Yeah, sure." I pulled out my pinky finger before she tangled hers with mine.

"I pinky swear."

Hailey and I just got out from the cafeteria and were heading on to our next classes. She was so hyped when I told her I would go on a date with Chase, until she wanted the same for her and Nathan which I disapproved at the moment. We hadn't consulted Nathan for that matter which was why I wish I could find a time to talk it out with Chase.

"Well, I have to get to class. I'll see you later, okay Nikki?" Hailey asked with a smile. A smile that meant something more than what it should be.

"You mean, tomorrow?"

She glanced at me with her lips parted, letting a swift minute to pass before responding. "Yes... Yes, of course."

Before I could say something, Hailey was already on her back about to flee away, but I quickly grabbed her wrist and looked straight in her eyes.

"Hailey, I'm being serious. It's just me and Chase on this date, okay? And, don't even try to take your brother with you and spy us along the way... Okay?" I uttered, pronouncing each words clearer.

Hailey raised her right hand, and said. "Yes, I won't cross my heart."

"You made it sound like, you won't cross your heart." I furrowed my eyebrows while crossing my hands to my chest.

"No, I'm being serious, we really have to get to class."

I groaned, looking around the hallway and finding it empty. "Fine."

Hailey was like my sister. A very nosy one though. I would even bet my life that tonight on date with Chase, she would turn into a spook with her eyes creeping to watch us. How did I know? Well, simply because she already done that when I had my first date with my ex boyfriend!

School hours ended, Chase and I walked out of the room together as we made our way to the parking lot.

"Mr. Blaze knows nothing but to divide the class by group for a project." Chase sighed, brushing his hair back with his fingers.

I contained a laugh, "Oh, shut up. I know you're not even a tiny bit frustrated, especially you were grouped with Stacy... Again."

"You're bluffing."

I shrugged with a smile as we looked at each other before he slung his hand across my shoulder and chuckled. As we reached his car, Chase unlocked the doors and we both hopped in. He drove towards my house and pulled over in front of it before I went out.

"I'll see you later at seven." He winked and I nodded with a smile before he drove off.

Afterwards, I wasted no time and rushed to my room and got ready. Chase would be here in less than three hours. I opened my closet and searched for an attire. My closet wasn't that huge, but there could be quite a number of clothes to dig into.

Thirty minutes, I wasted thirty minutes just rummaging my closet.

I groaned inwardly and thought, What am I gonna wear? I don't even know where will Chase take me on a date!

Frustrated, I slumped my back on bed and stared at the ceiling. It took me another five minutes, idling. The clock tics once again, and I decided to call Hailey for help.

"Nikki, my baby. How's the date going?" Hailey teased, while giggling on the other line.

I lightly laughed with her before responding. "I need you to help me. It's an emergency."

"What? You're getting a baby. It's an emergency?"

What?

"No, eww... Where did that come from?" I furrowed my eyebrows, as I sat right up.

Hailey chuckled on the other line. "I'm watching a movie. The girl had a baby... What's up anyways?"

"Can you come over, ASAP? Chase will be here in less than two hours and I haven't done anything yet. I'm stuck..."

"I'm on my way!" She cuts me off, and abruptly ended the call.

For a few minutes, Hailey arrived with her make-up kit and a jaunty grin. Her shirt spoke for her with an I'm ready! print.

"Let's get started! We only have two hours." She gushes towards my closet and threw all my garments on my bed.

She stroked her chin, and placed her one hand on her hip, before glancing on me. "Would you mind telling me your mood for the night?"

"Uhh, well..." I paused while averting my gaze from her as I pondered what words might fit better. "Happy, sweet... in love?"

"Pink, or red..." Hailey stated, as she sat down on my bed and trolled for a fine pink, or red dress.

"Scratch red. I just wore my only red dress when I joined Chase and his dad at Thanksgiving."

She stopped, and stared at me. "How about a pink dress?"

"Well, if you miraculously found a pink dress?" I forced out a grin, while lifting my shoulders.

"Never mind... Oh! What about that blue dress you bought that day we went shopping for the party?"

Her opinion got me thinking  before I sat beside her. "Actually, can I just wear jeans? I think that blue glittery dress is way too much for a date night. Remember, this isn't prom yet."

"Hmm, you're kinda right though. But, we're not considering that a ticket for you to go out without high heels."

As Hailey quoted years back, 'High heels is a must, unless you want to be mash.'

I hardly get what that meant to her, but I guess it was because high heels gives you enough confidence to walk in the middle of the crowd.

I nodded, "Okay, so what's the top going to be?"

We both eyed the clothes neatly laying beside us, until Hailey decided to let her hands rummaged through it.

She lifted a white sleeves cropped top, and glanced at me before I shook my head. "Too summery."

"Oh, how about this? This looks cute." Hailey pulled other top which was a purple off-shoulder with floral pattern.

I hummed, "It's still..."

"What? Too summery? No, you wear this right now. You only have less than two hours! Go!" Hailey threw the top on me and grabbed a blue jeans next before pushing me through the bathroom.

I hadn't got a chance to protest, because she was right. We were running out of time. After taking a quick bath and donned the clothes, I hastily walked from the bathroom towards the mirror to see my reflection with my outfit.

"Come here! No time to waste!"

As soon as Hailey sees me, she quickly pulled me towards the dressing table making me yelped before she spun the chair away from the mirror, refraining me to peek at my reflection, twice.

"At least let me see myself, please?" I asked, before she held my face restraining my movements before applying a light amount of foundation.

"Doesn't matter. I know what is ugly and beautiful, and I say, you're gorgeous."

After Hailey placed down the hair spray on the vanity drawer, she handed me my corset heels while I batted my heavy lashes from the mascara.

"Wear these first, before you look in the mirror."

"Yes, Madame." I took the heels from her hands, before slipping my feet in them.

I straightened up and raised my hands mid high. "Anything?"

"Nope." She shook her head and waited for me to reach the mirror.

As always, Hailey left me astonished with what power she holds to make me look amazing. She kept things simple and casual. My make-up remained nude looking without blush-ons, but with a hint of spice on my lips and eyes, carefully outlining their beauty. My hair was tidily laid back, and the spiral earrings which Hailey made me wore, shimmers with its fine silver coating.

I shifted my gaze towards my clothing, which I deeply admired. The top, jeans, and heels worked very well for my mood. Although, I could pin just a little amount of flirtatious in it with my bare shoulders showing, it was still great.

[Now, picture Nikki in this outfit below!]

"So? Do you like it?" Hailey asked, joyfully.

Her eyes mirrored the scenery outside with the sunset striking down on us.

I breathed out and smiled, "I love it."

"I thought you'd hate it." Hailey brushed her forearm across her forehead and sat down on the chair, facing the vanity mirror.

As we waited for Chase, Hailey did her make-up, while I sat down and gleaned the garments from my bed to the closet. And after a few more minutes, the sound of Chase's car honking, took my feet downstairs.

Aunt Crissa took a picture of me after she said I needed one for my album. "I love your outfit... Have fun out there, okay?"

"I will. Thank you." I smiled.

Suddenly, Hailey rushed down from my room and handed me my purse with a smile. "I put your breath mints in it, floss, lip gloss, deodorant, and marker."

"Aww... Thanks, Hailey." I forced out a grin.

She flashed back a smile. "No problem."

Before opening the door, I noticed the bag Hailey carries on her other hand, and questioned. "What is that?"

"My bag."

This was exactly what I don't want to happen, especially not on this date. Her answer froze me on my spot.

No!
