After talking to Hunter for a little bit, I tell him that I have to go. Hanging up, I head back to the spa where the girls are leaning against the wall, eating strawberries.

Luna looks at me as I enter the spa. She stands and moves towards the stairs.

"Where are you going?" Suri asks.

Luna climbs the stairs and grabs her robe. With a filthy look at me, she says. "I'm not going to stay in the same room that got someone killed."

"I didn't get anyone killed," I tell Luna. "Peter's actions are what got him killed. Are you pissed because you have feelings for him?"

Luna puts the robe on. "I don't know how I feel about him. He might be the father, and now he won't have the opportunity to know about it."

Suri moves to my side. "Luna, please don't leave. You're supposed to get to know Keegan."

Luna shakes her head. "I don't want to know her. She's ruined things for me." She looks in my eyes and says. "I hate you." Luna walks away.

I'm not the bad guy in this situation.

Turning towards Suri, I say. "I'm going for a walk. Please, get home safely and don't worry about me." I climb out of the spa and head to the change rooms.

While in the change rooms, I don't say anything to Luna as I shower and change quickly. Grabbing my bag, I leave the change rooms.

When I get outside, I see Zane in his car. He opens the door and looks at me. "Are you okay?"

Shaking my head, I climb into the car. "No, Luna's blaming me for Peter getting killed."

Zane shuts the door, moves to the other side, and sits beside me. "I'm sorry she feels that way." He starts the car. "We didn't kill him. Peter provided us with information about his brother."

"What did you find out?"

Zane pulls onto the road, and we leave the spa behind. "Peter said that his brother will be here soon and that we should watch Hunter. He believes something terrible is going to happen."

"Where's Peter going?"

Zane pulls onto a side road. "Peter will be staying at a safe house with his Uncle. He won't leave until we have his brother in our hands."

"I want proof he's alive," I tell him. "Luna should know. That way, she can get over being pissed at me."

"Do you think Luna will be a friend of yours?"

"No," I look out the window. "I don't believe we will be friends. However, I will get along with her because of who her family is."

"Can Suri change Luna's mind about you?"

"I'm not sure. Why are you suddenly interested in what's happening in my life?"

Zane laughs. "I'm bored with the things happening in mine. You tend to give me a reason to smile at what's happening in yours."

"My life isn't a drama."

"It's filled with drama and turns that no one sees coming, Melody. Besides, you should be used to things like this because you are famous."

Ring,

My phone rings and I look at the caller ID. I see 'Hunter' flash across the screen.

"Are you going to answer that?" Zane asks. He watches as the screen lights up again with 'Hunter's' name. "He's going to think something is wrong with you ignoring his calls."

"Something is wrong, Zane." I hit my head against the headrest. "Why are things fucked right now. I hoped to have a drama-free time while I was away, and people keep doing things to hurt me or people I care about."

Zane pulls the car onto the side of the road. He turns towards me and says. "People can be fucked at times. That's what you're dealing with right now. Once Peter's brother is out of the way, things will return to normal, and you can enjoy your time with Hunter."

I hope he's right.

"Can we go to Mal's? Tell him to prepare a big scoop of chocolate ice cream for me."

Zane laughs. "I can do that." He searches his phone until he finds Mal's number, and he calls him.

The phone rings several times before Mal says, "Tell me Keegan is safe."

Zane: Keegan is safe. She wants a big scoop of your chocolate ice cream. We're coming to you in ten minutes.

Mal: Okay, I'll have that ready for her. You have to tell me what's going on.

Zane: I will.

Mal: Get here safely, and I will see my girl soon.

I giggle at that.

Mal: See you soon, Keegan.

Me: Bye, Mal.

Zane ends the call and looks at me. "You should talk to Hunter. He probably noticed that you didn't return with his sister's and is worried."

I wonder what they told him.

Ring,

Looking at the screen, I see 'Hunter' flash across it. I let it ring a little longer before answering.

Me: Hi, Hunter.'

Hunter: Melody, don't hi me when you ignore my phone call. Where are you?

Me: Does it matter?

Hunter: Of course it does. I heard what happened and what Luna said. She was out of line.

Me: Luna wasn't wrong about what she said, Hunter.

Hunter: That's bullshit, Melody. I know Luna's pissed. When she calms, she will apologise.

Me: I don't need her apology, Hunter. I want to forget that the spa day ever happened.

I put the phone on a loudspeaker so Zane could hear it.

Hunter: Has Peter been killed?

Zane nods, letting me know it's okay for me to tell him.

Me: Peter and his Uncle are in hiding. They provided helpful information to Zane.

Hunter: Are you with Zane?

Me: Yes,

Hunter: What information did you find out from Peter?

Zane: Matteo will be heading this way. I'm not sure if it's on business or

Hunter cuts him off.

Hunter: to hurt my family or me.

Zane: You need to be careful.

Hunter: I will. Thank you, Zane.

Zane: Talk to your sister and let her know what's going on with Peter. He mentioned something about her.

Hunter: Okay,

Me: Hunter, you need to talk to Luna. She's keeping secrets from the family. I will be back later tonight.

Hunter: Stay safe, and I'll see you tonight. Bye, Keegan.

Me: I will. Bye, Hunter.

Hanging up, I look out the window as we approach Mal's. Zane parks close to the store, and we leave the car.

The door to Mal's opens, and he steps out. "Mal," I yell. I run over to him, and we hug. Do you have the ice cream?"

"Yes," Mal smiles at me. "It's the biggest scoop you've ever had. I hope you're working out while you're here."

A smile spreads across my face. "I raced against Hunter Westbrook the other day."

Mal shakes his head. "I know how the story ends. Keegan won against him."

"Yep," I open the door and step into Mal's.

Five couples are having dinner, and a guy with a cap hides in a corner. He looks at the table as I walk by.

Someone's trying to hide their identity. I hope the guy messes up and shows me who they are.

Zane's eyes land on the guy as he walks past. He stops at the table. "Excuse me."

The guy looks up and makes eye contact with Zane. "What do you want?"

"What time is it?"

"Huh," the guy looks at Zane's wrist. "You've got a fancy watch. That will tell you the time."

"It's broken," Zane freezes the time on his watch and shows it to the guy.

"Don't you have a cell?"

Moving over to Zane, I grab his hand. "Come on, Dad. You promised me ice cream."

The guy's head turns towards me, and I see his face.

It's Matteo.

"I'm so sorry for intruding on your meal. Dad will pay for it."
"No," Matteo shakes his head. "I can look after it myself." He gathers his drink and moves away from the table.

He doesn't know who I am. I will have to tell Hunter that Matteo is in town.

Matteo walks out of Mal's.

Dropping Zane's arm, I look at him and say, "That was Matteo. Hunter needs to know, he's in town."

At the booth, Zane sits next to me. "I don't want you near that guy, Keegan."

Leaning into his side, I whisper. "Okay," I close my eyes. "That guy gave off creepy vibes, and I didn't like it. I'm not sure how Hunter could put up with him."

Ding,

My phone went off, and I saw a message from Suri.

Suri: Are you coming home?

Me: Yes.

Me: Did you know Matteo is in town?

Suri: Is he? I will ask Hunter.

Me: I'll reach out to him myself.

Suri: Are you sure it was him?

Me: Yes.

Me: The other night, Hunter showed me a picture of Matteo, and it was the same person.

Suri: Damn, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of you.

Me: Don't piss me off, and you will be fine. :)

Suri: (eye roll emoji) You don't need to threaten me.

Mal looks at the phone and says. "Who are you talking to?"

Looking up from the screen, I say. "Hunter's sister Suri. We are close."

"I'm glad you're friends with that girl." Mal slides the bowl of ice cream to me, and I start eating.

"Thanks, Mal. I need this after the day I had."

"Did you get into a fight with someone?"

"Luna, she doesn't like me because I told her that Peter would die. Peter has been helping his brother hurt Hunter by taking his company. However, Zane found out some things..." I look towards the table that Matteo left. "Excuse me." I move towards the table and find a device connected to the bottom. I pull it off and say. "It's not polite to eavesdrop, Matteo. I know you have more bugs planted in the shop. I will destroy them. I hope you never get what you want."

Zane pulls a device out of his pocket and locates the planted bugs. He makes the device useless and then puts everything in a box. "What should we do with these?"

"Put it outside. Let the weather get to it. Or the creep might crawl back to the cafe to pick it up. Put one of your own in the box. Then we will be able to trace him. Teach him a lesson about fucking with people who have more experience than you." I move back to the table and start eating the melting ice cream.

Mal picks up the box and places it on the table outside. He walks over to our table and sits across from me. "You seem to be picking up stuff from your time around Zane. I don't want to know what you can do if someone crosses you."

"It won't be pretty what I can do, Mal. I am working with a group that will take over security from Zane's men."

"What?" Zane turns towards me. "You're going to fire my men?"

"A majority of them want to be closer to home. Travelling the world isn't something they want to do. I have chosen the two that will stay on."

Mal laughs. "I have been waiting for Keegan to tell you you're not needed anymore, Zane. Today is that day."

"Are you sure that's what you want, Keegan? Let me know when I need to assign my men new clients."

"Right now, they are still needed. My new security is training right now.
