Fondness
He felt like he was going to burst.
His cheeks were on fire and his heart was beating so fast that he could've sworn the entire apartment complex could hear it.
What was that just a few moments ago?!
Valt ran his fingers threw his bangs and looked in the direction of Shu's bedside table.
As the latter had said, his headband was on the table.
Normally the bluenette would grab the headband and secure it into its normal position in his hair, but this time he didn't reach for it.
His hands shook as he removed it from his hair. The insides of his palms were sweating and somehow he found himself reaching out for a pillow on Shu's bed.
When a pillow was in his grasp, Valt slammed his head into it.
He yelled into the pillow, voice muffling as he did so, before he repeatedly whacked himself with it.
The process of yelling into the pillow and hitting himself with it continued in a vicious cycle for several minutes.
When his arms began to tire, Valt stopped.
Dropping the pillow onto the air mattress, Valt groaned.
He didn't feel like he was going to burst anymore, but his cheeks were still burning.
Why can't I calm down? This shouldn't be happening. He was just half asleep and didn't know what he was really looking at or doing... Right?
Valt felt a small pang in his chest at that last thought.
Although he really wanted the moment to have lasted longer he knew it couldn't. After all it was just a simple accident.
There was no way that Shu Kurenai, his best friend, would willingly look at him with loving eyes after waking up. Nor would Shu willingly stroke his hand so lightly that it would send him stuttering a good morning.
Actually, how did our hands end up like that? Maybe I really did reach out for him in my sleep?
Everything that had happened moments ago was driving Valt crazy. He knew Shu was just half asleep throughout everything...
But why would he look at me that way even if he was still half asleep?
When Shu had looked at Valt it wasn't the average way a half asleep person would look at someone. It was much more than just sleepyness.
Those scarlet eyes had stared at Valt with such fondness that they almost looked loving. They had sparkled when they met chocolate eyes and grew brighter when they they had locked onto Valt...
"Argh! Enough of this! I just need to forget about this and move on. Maybe if I do that and act natural then these thoughts and feelings will go away."
Without giving a second thought to the early morning events, Valt stood up from the air mattress. He exited the room, not giving a glance to his headband on the way out.
The smell of french toast and beacon filled his nose as he left the bedroom. It was an alluring scent that made his body move on instinct.
As Valt made his way into the kitchen his stomach growled.
Shu, who was busy setting the food on the table, smiled to Valt. He was already dressed in his usual attire as well, as looked over Valt.
There it was again, the warm smile and soft eyes that made Valt's heart skip a beat.
"I take it you left your hair the same way as I left you a few minutes ago." Shu chuckled to himself.
The bluenette smiled back to the Spryzen blader as he scratched the back of his head.
"Yeah, I thought I'd leave it like this for awhile... So what's for breakfast? It smells really good!"
Valt was already seated at the table, looking down at his plate as he waited for his answer.
Just some french toast and beacon. I hope you don't mind a small breakfast. I'll make some more later if you get hungry." Shu joined Valt at the table, sitting opposite to the bluenette.
The Valtryek blader had already begun digging into his food while Shu had been talking.
Having a small breakfast was fine by him as long as he knew there'd be more later on.
The two ate their breakfast in silence at first. Neither talked, the only noises in the room was the light clanking of the forks and knives against their plates.
As Valt began to finish his food he took the opportunity to start up a conversation.
"Do you have any plans for today? Beybattles, beytraining, video gaming?"
The Spryzen blader took a final bite of his french toast, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and nodded.
"Actually I do. You see, I was planning on training with Spryzen today. Since you stayed over last night I figured we could go train together. If it's alright with you, I'd like to take you with me to train at the park."
Valt grinned widely, his own eyes mimicking the sparkles that had been in Shu's eyes earlier that morning.
"You know that's alright with me! What are we waiting for? Let's get moving!"
The bluenette practically sprung up from his seat. He had been itching to go outside and start training with Valtryek for several days now.
Now that Shu and Spryzen would be their training partners things were going to be great!
This was going to be a wonderful Sunday!
By the time Shu had processed Valt getting up from his chair, he was already being dragged out of his own chair.
Valt had run around the table and took ahold of the scarlet eyed males wrists and was now tugging him away from the table.
Looking down at their clothes, Shu his arms - as well as Valt - towards his bedroom.
The bluenette groaned as he was led away from the front door and towards the bedroom instead.
But then it hit him.
"Oh, I get it now! We almost forgot the most important thing, Valtryek and Spryzen! I'll go get them!"
Valt broke away from Shu and hurriedly rushed into the bedroom. A loud thud emitted just moments after Valt entered the room.
Shu blinked after his friend in surprise before rushing into his room.
"Valt?"
The bluenette was face first on the floor, Valtryek and Spryzen in his hands.
However the Valtryek blader ended up on the floor was beyond the Spryzen blader - seeing as his room was clean.
The only thing the bluenette could've possibly tripped over was either the air mattress or his own two feet.
"I'm okay! Just tripped after grabbing these two." Valt gave a crooked smile as he presented the two beys in his hand.
A light chuckle escaped the Spryzen blader as he watched Valt roll over and jump back to his feet.
"Glad you're not hurt... But don't you think there's one more thing you should do before we start heading out?"
"No? I got our beys and we already ate. I think we're good to go."
Another chuckle escaped the Spryzen bladers lips as he shook his head. Sometimes Valt could be so carefree that it almost hurt.
"It's a little obvious, really, but I'll tell you anyway." Shu mumbled, a small smirk forming. "You forgot to get changed out of your pajamas."
Shu could hear the sharp intake of breath that came from the bluenette.
He almost laughed when Valt's face flushed and when he practically ran to the bathroom to get changed.
"There's never a dull moment with you around."

Beys clashed head on at each other, their spirits being awoken as they tried to surpass each other.
One bey in particular, though, gained an extra boost of energy and burst through their opponent in the end. This action caused the winner to cheer out loud while the other applauded their opponents victory.
At the time these two bladers battled just for the fun of it, but now things were different.
Individual matches at the national tournament were starting up soon which meant reputations would be on the line. Friendships and strengths would be tested.
One false move and everything would be over.
These sorts of thoughts passed through Valt's mind all the time now with the individual matches drawing nearer.
But for the time being he would forget these thoughts and focus on his time spent with Shu.
The two bladers were now at a bey stadium in the park.
Both bladers had already gathered their fair share of wins over the other in the time they had started to now.
Shu was currently in the the lead with 8-3 wins.
Valt wasn't even disappointed with his loses.
Not even in the slightest.
All that mattered was he was getting to spend quality time with Shu.
The Spryzen blader was happy as well. He loved moments like this, just the two of them, alone together. The activity didn't even matter as long as he could be with Valt.
Shu smiled to the bluenette.
The shade coming from the gazebo shielded the two from the sun, yet it still managed to bounce along Valt's fair skin.
Casting his thoughts aside, Shu cleared his throat.
"Want to go another round, or do you want some lunch?"
The low stomach growl that came from Valt was all Shu needed to hear.
Moving away from the bey dish, Shu walked to the edge of the gazebo and sat down. He pat a spot next to him for Valt to join him and then turned to grab some food he had brought along.
Valt walked over the Spryzen blader but instead of joining the other he stood standing behind him.
When Shu noticed the other hadn't sat down yet he turned to look at the other.
Valt's face was flushed, his hands were gripping the strings of his hoodie, and he looked - out of it.
"Are you okay? I've got some water if you-"
Shu didn't get a chance to finish his sentence for Valt cut him off by dropping down to his knees.
The bluenette then moved closer towards his friend until he was right next to the silver white haired male. He then laid down on his side and rested his head on Shu's lap, his eyes fluttering closed as he did so.
Shu sat in shock. His eyes had flown open as he watched the Valtryek blader.
"Valt?"
The Spryzen blader raised his gloved hand and rested it atop the other forehead.
No fever.
He must be tired then...
Looking down at Valt's resting face, Shu smiled softly. The hand he had on the bluenette's forehead moved to rub blue hair in a gentle way.
"Rest up, you deserve a nice break."
