"All that you are is all that I'll ever need."

"LET ME THE FUCK IN! LET ME IN RIGHT NOW OR I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU ALL!" Sharleen cursed angrily.
"I am sorry ma'am but we cannot let anyone in at the moment. Only his mother. Those are orders from our commander." One of the two men that were addressed answered.
The two said stood in front of a door that led to the ICU where Devlin was currently in. Devlin had been treated and they were now waiting for him to recover.
The only problem was, some minutes during the operation, the military had come to the hospital and taken responsibility of protecting one of their own. No one apart from the doctors and his mother was allowed in. Something that pissed off Sharleen to the core.
Sharleen had talked, begged, cried and even cursed the two guards but she did not get a reaction from any of them. Not even sympathy or anger at her foul words. The two fully dressed up for combat military men just stood there like statues staring at her nonchalantly.
"MY HUSBAND IS FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE! I HAVE TO BE THERE WITH HIM." Sharleen shouted once more, tears in her eyes.
Nothing. No reaction.
Nicole went to her friend's side quickly to calm her down. Without knowing, Sharleen was making a huge scene at the hospital that everyone was now looking at her. Some wondering if she was a mad woman at the wrong place.
A pregnant woman trying to piss of two military men.
"Please sir, when is your commander arriving so that we can talk to him?" Nicole asked the two men while comforting her friend.
"He will be here after investigating on what happened to Sir Devlin." One of them said simply.
"Come on Sharleen, let's take you to the bench." Nicole said, pointing at the bench where Naomi sat patiently.
"It's not fair Nicole. It's not fair at all. Why are they not letting me see him? Why can't I see my husband? He needs me. I know he needs me." Sharleen broke down on her friend.
"You will see him, don't worry. Let us wait for the commander to come. Just be strong, okay? Besides, his mother is with him right now." Nicole tried comforting her friend while guiding her to the waiting bench.
Looking at how Sharleen was broken right now, Nicole could not help but curse the man that ordered the two men to be deployed on Devlin's ICU door. She understood that the are protecting one of their own, but from his wife too?
Nicole did not know the depth of the relationship between Sharleen and Devlin but with all this action, she could not help but conclude that the two had a connection. Whether knowingly or unknowingly. Their relationship was on a deeper level.
"I need to be strong. I need to be strong." Nicole heard Sharleen chant to herself.
Nicole prayed for the commander to come soon so that her friend can see her husband, else she might even harm the baby that she was carrying with all the stress.
An hour passed quickly as the three souls just sat hopefully on the waiting bench. Their eyes were glued to where the entrance was, for any sign of a man wearing the unique military uniform.
From the corner of her eyes, Sharleen saw the doctor that was in charge of her husband coming towards them. Without thinking, she stood abruptly making Nicole who was hugging her almost kiss the ground.
"Doctor..." Sharleen stated with worry the moment the doctor reached a hearing distance.
The doctor nodded his head to acknowledge all of them and went straight ahead to share what brought him. "The patient is showing a good recovery so far. Thankfully, the two bullets did not damage any serious organ. He should be waking up any moment from now. Dorcas told me to inform you so that you should not be worried."
Sharleen let out the hot breath that she was holding. She felt as if some of the heavy load had been lifted. But not all.
"Doctor..." Sharleen called with a low raspy voice making the doctor's attention to focus solely on her.
"Can i see him. Just for a minute?" Sharleen begged, playing with her fingers nervously.
The doctor sighed loudly and looked at the door to the ICU that was secured by two heavily armed guards and then at Sharleen. "I am sorry, but i can't help you with that. You must talk to them. My work is to make sure your patient is well. Those people have taken over the security part." The doctor said with an apologetic voice.
The small hope that lingered in Sharleen's chest evaporated after the short speech of the doctor. The only think that kept her together until now was that Devlin was progressing well and Dorcas was with him, otherwise she would have been shattered.
The doctor left after giving them another nod and a small smile.
Before Sharleen could get back to the seat, she saw three very serious men going towards the doctor that had just left them a minute ago. Their serious faces though was not what caught her eyes, the clothes they wore, no, the uniform they wore was what caught her eyes.
Sharleen did not even realise that she had started walking until she bumped into a certain nurse on the way. Her eyes still glued to the three men as if they would disappear if she looked somewhere else, Sharleen continued walking without even mumbling a sorry to the poor nurse that had almost kissed the floor.
When Sharleen reached the three men who were now talking to the doctor, she cared less if she was interrupting their conversation. "I want to see my husband." She went direct to the point.
The three armed including the doctor looked at her. It was as if the three military men did not expect someone to interrupt them. Their scrutinizing eyes glared at her but Sharleen returned the glares in the same degree.
Even she herself was surprised by the courage that possessed her at the moment. If it were another time, she would have not dared talking to a gigantic military man,let alone glare back. But at the moment, Sharleen cared less. In fact, she was glad for whoever transfered the courage to her.
"And who are you?" One of the military men asked, taking a step towards her.
"I am his wife." Sharleen answered, still full of courage despite the threatening steps that the man took towards him.
"As far as i know, Devlin is not married and the only relative is his mother." The man said raising his eyebrow challengingly.
Sharleen studied the man carefully. He looked older than the other two that were quiet behind him but was still very fit. Hell, if it were not for the small wrinkles on his face no one would suspect this was almost someone's grandfather.
"You are the commander." Sharleen voiced her conclusion making the man smile.
"Of course i am. And you better tell me who you are because Devlin is single as far as the military documents are concerned." The man said threateningly.
"I am his wife. You need to update your systems. Can i please go and see him now?" Sharleen begged, not in the mood to argue with someone while Devlin needed her.
"She is his wife." Dorcas said, coming out of the ICU.
"Dorcas, how are you?" The man greeted Devlin's mother with a warm smile.
"I am good. Now can you please let the poor lady go and see her husband. Your men were really hard on her you know?" Dorcas came to Sharleen's aid.
"My men were just following orders Dorcas. I had no information that Devlin had married, let alone having a pregnant wife." The man said, defending himself.
"Can i please go? I need to see Devlin?" Sharleen said loudly, not in the mood to hear Dorcas and this man catching up. Her mind was shouting Devlin and Devlin alone.
"You can go." The man said and nodded at the men that were guarding the ICU door who nodded back just as fast.
Sharleen did not wait to hear anything else. She bolted to the ICU room as fast as her legs could carry her. Her eyes searched for only one person, her body only craved to touch only one person and her ears longed only to hear the voice of one person.
Devlin.
Her wish was granted soon enough fortunately. There lying on the bed was Devlin. His face as handsome as ever and his body as hot as she could remember.
If it were not for the bandages that covered his naked chest, Sharleen would have not believed that this man had been shot.
As if sensing her presence, Devlin turned his head to her direction and when his mind registered what his eyes were seeing he gave her a smile. That cocky panty wetting smile.
"Sharleen." Devlin called, his voice filled with both relief and pain.
His voice was like cold water that made Sharleen wake up from whatever maze that she was in. She quickly ran to him and engulfing him in a hug. Her ear resting on his chest listening to his rhythmical heart beat as if confirming that he was really alive while her eyes shed tears of joy and her heart warming up.
Finally, she was with her man. Her Devlin.
A groan from Devlin brought her back to her senses. Shit. She had hugged him too hard.
"Sorry." Sharleen said shyly, detaching herself from him unwillingly.
Devlin took her hands in his before she had detached herself completely. "Are you okay?" He asked with a worried voice.
Sharleen nodded her head vigorously confirming that she was indeed okay. "I am. I am okay." Sharleen said. "But are you?" She asked, her eyes automatically going to his bandaged chest.
"I am not, but i have an idea on something that can make me well." Devlin said, his eyes dancing with mischief.
"What is that?" Sharleen asked slightly confused.
"A kiss can really make me well right now." Devlin said with a grin.
"Oh." Sharleen said after processing what he said. A blush covered her cheeks as she thought of what she was about to do and Devlin's grin became wider as her face became red.
"Come on, you are not evil to deny a sick man his medicine." Devlin teased while Sharleen tried to overcome her shyness.
Slowly, Sharleen leaned her head towards Devlin's, her breath becoming heavy with each minute. Her eyes were glued on his pink lips that were now slightly apart. Soon enough they were only centimeters apart, their breaths mixing whenever they exhaled, both waiting on who had the courage to initiate the kiss.
Sharleen could not wait anymore and smashed her lips to his soft ones. The lips danced, each of them trying to dominate the other, both trying to savour the taste of the other's lips and both praying for the kiss to never end.
Sharleen did not know for how long they kissed. Some seconds? Some minutes? Some hours? She did not care. The way his smooth lips felt as they brushed against her own was a feeling she would cherish forever. The need for air was the only thing that made her break the kiss.
Both were panting hard as they looked at each other. Sharleen felt some pride when she saw his swollen pink lips. She had caused that.
Sharleen absentmindedly touched her own lips while still looking into his eyes.
They had kissed. Their first real kiss.
Sharleen wanted to have the feeling again. The feeling of his soft lips dancing with hers. So she did what she did the first time.
Sharleen smashed her lips to his.
