"If your heart is in love, you can do anything."

Do you know that feeling where you feel like punching someone, on the face that is, but you can't, because one, it would be bloody and you might go to jail, two, the person is your family or best friend and the third and most important reason is because you are trying to hide your crush for someone and if you throw the punch your secret might be spilled? That was what Sharleen was feeling currently towards her best friend Nicole.
See? Complicated, right? Urghhh...
Sharleen was exhausted. Not the 'i have worked the whole day and i really need some rest' exhausted. Yeah, maybe that too because they had been shopping non stop and it was now past noon, but what made her mainly exhausted was hearing her best friend narrate dreamingly her previous day with Devlin.
Who said hearing someone talk is not exhausting? I beg to differ!!
"I am telling you Sharleen, i think Devlin is the one for me." Nicole said grinning from ear to ear.
Sharleen rolled her eyes at her friend and sighed, "Nicole, you do realise that is the third time you are saying that in like thirty minutes."
"Yeah well i don't care how many times i sat it. Not after i realised our feelings are mutual. Can you imagine that? The hot and sexy Devlin actually loves me." Nicole said doing a little happy dance.
"What? How? Did you guys like kiss or something?" Sharleen asked surprised and the all familiar wave of jealous hitting her fully.
"No, not yet. But I'd never say never." Nicole said blushing, something that made Sharleen frown.
"Oh! I thought you hated relationships. You know, no commitments and everything." Sharleen raised her eyes at her friend.
"That was before. I have a really good feeling about him. We are meant to be together. I feel it in my bones." Nicole said dreamingly.
"If you say so." Sharleen concluded their discussion which was clearly draining her little energy.
Of all the people why did you have to fall for HIM? Sharleen cursed.
The two of them were currently standing at the clothes mall's car packing. They had finished to choose their wedding attires and they were now waiting for Ms. Jennifer who was giving last minute instructions and making sure everything was okay before joining them to go for lunch.
They had been at it since morning. Choosing between different clothes for the bride and the bridesmaids, choosing their colours and even matching shoes. Truthfully, Sharleen was glad that her friend was here with her together with Ms. Jennifer. She sucked at making choices and always needed second opinions and lets just say Nicole was good at that, not forgetting Jenifer's expertise.
"Am here, sorry for making you wait for that long." Ms. Jennifer apologized rushing towards the two making Sharleen wonder how skillfully she could move with speed wearing heels.
"Thank God! I thought we had to go file for missing persons at the police station!" Nicole screamed dramatically.
"Yeah yeah... Let's go please. Am so hungry i could eat a whole elephant." Sharleen faked a yawn while already opening the driver's door.
"I can bet on my whole money that she can't even finish an elephant's tail, let alone a whole elephant." Nicole teased making Jennifer giggle.
"I heard that Nicole."
"You were supposed to hear that dumbass, thanks for confirming." Nicole retorted entering the passengers seat and Jennifer following suite.
The drive to the nearest restaurant was short, not that any of them complained since they still had some jewellery to shop after their lunch. Jennifer and Nicole were the first to get out of the car, making Sharleen to roll her eyes. Gluttonous bitches.
Unbuckling her safety belt, Sharleen scooped her purse and followed her friends. Opening the restaurant's door, she bumped into someone- well, it was as though the person wanted to be bumped into. With the broad and hard chest, it was not hard to figure out that she bumped into a man. Besides Sharleen was sure if it had been a lady she would have by now cursed her or punched her.
"Sorry, i was not keen on where i was going to." Sharleen being the good hearted person voiced her apology.
"Oh, you should be aware of your surroundings young lady." The man she had bumped to replied with a creepy grin.
The man seemed to be in his mid thirties, wearing a nice business suit and were it not for the creepy grin he could be considered in Sharleen's handsome men category. That and also the negative vibe he was emitting made her not want to be near him for even a second more.
"Well, i did not bump on myself and that means you too were not aware of your surroundings old man." Sharleen retorted tired of playing nice. I can't believe i wasted my precious voice apologising. What a creep!
"I'd have you know i am no old man. I am fully functional, if you know what i mean." Mr. Creepy winked and roamed his eyes lustfully up and down her body.
Okay, Sharleen did not despise the male gender but some excuse of human being like the one in front of her currently always made her second guess herself if the men were really worth it. I mean who looks at someone else like a piece of meat? She felt very exposed while he was lustfully looking at her even though she wore some decent pants and t-shirt.
"Well, why don't you come closer so i can kick your balls and we shall see if they will be fully functional after that?" She asked sweetly throwing him the most charming smile she could master.
"Feisty, i like that. Damn! I think you just made me hard." Mr. Creepy said with his stupid grin and started adjusting his pants.
"You know what? Go get that head of yours checked. God must have mistakenly placed shit instead of brain. Am out of here, i hope not to see you again creep." Sharleen said storming away towards her friends' table to join them.
"I am sure you will." Sharleen heard him say like it was some sort of promise. You can choke on your saliva and die for all i care. Maybe if we meet in hell because i know you will definitely be there creep.
"Whoooo... What happened there girl? I swear for a split second I saw smoke coming out of your ears." Yap, you guessed it, Nicole.
"Well, some asshole ruined my moods and even my appetite apparently." Sharleen said still pissed.
"He looked at us creepily too while we were getting in. Gosh! Some people have nothing to do." Ms. Jennifer added munching her food.
"Tell me about it." Sharleen agreed. "I wish he could have been created a cow, at least he could have provided some family with milk and meat."
"You know what, some men like that need some really good cursing. Maybe God will make those curses come true." That's Nicole and her ridiculous ideas.
"May all his downloads fail at 99%" Sharleen started, very much on board with the idea of cursing Mr. Creepy.
"May he get horny only when his wife is on her periods." Nicole grinned.
"And may he get a severe chronic diarrhoea on his wedding day." Jennifer giggled, making the two others to laugh out loudly.
"Damn Jen, good one. I never thought you had it in you!" Nicole patted her, still laughing.
Nicole and Jennifer were now halfway through their meal and Sharleen wondered if she took that long talking to Mr. Creep or her friends were just hungry hyenas in the shape of human beings.
"You guys didn't order for me?" Sharleen asked while looking at the menu ready to order her own.
"Sorry, i was so hungry that i didn't notice you were missing. Besides last time I checked we don't have mind links that i could use to ask which food you wanted." Nicole said with her mouth full.
"As much as I am impressed by how you talk with your mouth full, i don't want to see the food in your mouth. That is so unladylike." Sharleen said scrunching her nose.
"Yeah! Suck it up woman!" Nicole dismissed her friend earning herself a glare.
Thirty minutes later, they were back in the car ready to go to the jewelry shop. The drive was a quiet one since they were all full and their stomachs needed some digestion time, it's a science thing that I am still researching about!
Reaching the shop, Sharleen packed the car at the almost full packing lot and the three of them entered the shop.
The shop was full of people, some just window shopping and admiring from afar and others actually asking for their prices. Ms. Jennifer led them to some lady attendant and introduced them.
"Hi Lucy, this is the bride to be, Sharleen, and this is her friend, Nicole. We are here to choose some goodies as we talked on the phone. I hope we are not late, are we?"
"No, of course not! Nice to meet you Sharleen and Nicole. You have just come to the right place. We have everything at your disposal." The attendant, Lucy, threw them a full blown smile, showing her dimples.
Two hours later, Sharleen was thoroughly exhausted. Her feet hurt from walking around and standing for so long, her hands were hurting from trying anything that was thrown to her... as a matter of fact, her whole fucking body hurt. Am a person not a puppet for Christ's sake!
"Oh my God! Don't look, but i thing Devlin is coming this way." Nicole murmured all of a sudden.
"What?" Sharleen asked, not really sure if she was surprised or she just wanted her friend to repeat her statement.
"Oh my gosh, he is coming. I knew we were meant to be together! Our hearts are calling out to each other. Is this how love feels like? Is this what you feel with Kevin?" Nicole was now rambling at a low tone just for the four of them to hear.
"Nicole, you have to breath while talking else you will faint and we don't have to see you faint in front of your crush, we have seen a lot of that in movies." Ms. Jennifer reminded her fellow who had even forgotten the most essential thing, making her blush.
Sharleen felt him even before she saw him. Her heart was now beating faster and her body felt cold, as if craving for his warmth. Her coward eyes were now fixed on the floor because she was not sure if she would be able to avert her gaze once her eyes lock with his. Those eyes made her feel like a cocaine addict.
"Hello ladies?" His husky voice penetrated her ears making her shiver with pleasure. Damn! How i missed that voice.
"Hello too Devlin, i can't believe you are here! Its like our bodies are the opposite sides of a magnet. That's so cute!" Nicole answered seductively.
Does Nicole's voice always sound this annoying? It's like listening to a fat man snore!
Jealousy was choking Sharleen to the core. The only thing that was keeping her sane was the fact that she did not want to do anything that will bring everyone's attention to her.
"Hi Sharleen." So much for not wanting the attention.
His voice made her eyes obediently shift from the ground to his handsome face and to his captivating eyes. When he smiled at her, she unconsciously clenched her thighs. Shit! Get it together Sharleen, he is just like every other man. But that was where the problem was, he was different, and every part of her body could testify, and that's what worried her.
Sensing that he was still waiting for her reply, Sharleen just nodded since she did not trust her mouth to answer verbally lest it come out like a squeak.
Sharleen saw him slightly frown at her non verbal answer but quickly hid it with a smile. "So, what are you ladies doing here? Updating your jewellery collection i guess?"
"Oh no. We are here to shop for Sharleen's wedding. Exciting right?" Nicole stated with her over excited voice.
No one noticed Devlin's jaws clenching nor how Sharleen flinched at her friend's statement.
