Chapter Eight: Party?
Chapter Eight
“A party?” Lillian asked with a raised brow as she held her fork in midair while we listened to the Smith brothers.
Blake nodded, “We’re throwing ourselves a welcome back party.”
“More like an excuse to go drunk and bang some desperate chicks,” I snorted before I took a big bite of my pizza.
“Think whatever you like, Celeste,” Lucas rolled his eyes, “Anyways, you’re all invited, even Everett.”
Drew gave me a withering look and I only gave him a comforting smile. These two brothers has been nothing but harsh on him. They may not hurt him physically but they’re slashing out his self-esteem. It made me a little guilty because if it weren’t for me, he wouldn’t be sitting on this table while enduring the taunts thrown to him by the twins.
“Who else is invited?” Jessica inquired only to receive a Cheshire grin from them. I was already dreading what was coming next.
Blake shot up from his seat and cupped the sides of his hands, “Party at my house tonight!” he yelled which followed by cheers from the student body.
How fucking fantastic, he invited the whole school. I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw some of the younger teachers go there and some students who were trying to pin on them.
I never understood the student/teacher love thing.
I shot Blake a dirty look when he sat back down. It wasn’t like I’m not used to parties but I hate it when it goes out of control and I’m sure inviting the whole school is just a recipe for disaster.
“Lighten up, pres,” Lucas mocked. He said that I was a big goodie-two-shoes and I’m sure the fact I was elected as student body president wasn’t helping my case.
Basically all I did for the rest of the day was to ignore the Smith brothers at all cost and scold them every time they bully Drew.
Since it was Friday, I decided that it was time to relax so I told everybody in the dance committee that we wouldn’t be working today.
Also because I hate to waste my Friday afternoon watching people put up useless decoration that would torn down the minute the last couple at the dance leave the gym.
I grinned when I caught Drew stuffing his books into his locker. I happily skipped to where he was and kept my grin when he turned his attention to me.
“The party hasn’t even started and you looked like you’re high already,” he chuckled, closing his locker shut.
“Speaking of the party,” I started when we walked down the hall, “What time do you plan to go there?”
“I’m not going,” he deadpanned.
Well, that was quick.
“Why not?” I whined and he ran a hand through his brown locks.
“I don’t go to parties.”
“Ever?” I asked and he nodded.
“Never been to one.”
“Well then,” I drawled out, my grin creeping back to my face, “Looks like this is going to be your first party.”
“I’m not going,” he rolled his eyes, “I don’t even know where those idiots live.”
Ignoring his first statement, I climbed down the stairs leading to the parking lot, “I know where they live so I’ll pick you up at seven.”
When I turned to walk to my car, I heard him yell after me, “Shouldn’t it be the guy who’ll be picking up the girl?”
I turned around and give him a sheepish smile, “If I waited for you to pick me up, I’ll probably be sitting on my porch till midnight.”
Before he can reply, I turned on my heel and practically skipped to my car. This night’s going to be fun.
Or not.

“Celeste,” Ariel beamed when she opened the door. Before I had any time to react, she pulled me into a bone crushing hug, squeezing the air out of my system.
“It’s good to see you too,” I managed to choke out. She pulled away and smile at me before a blur of brown hair hugged her legs. Savannah gripped on her mother’s dress as she studied me carefully.
“Savannah,” Ariel screeched, “Go back inside the house, you might get cold.”
“Who is this?” she paused, squinting her green eyes,” She’s pretty.”
Ariel laughed at her daughter expense, “This is Celeste and yes, she’s really pretty.”
I blushed at Ariel statement but gave her a little thank you under my breath. Savannah let go of her mother and slowly approached me. I bent down so I was at her level and offered her a small smile, “I’m Celeste, nice to meet you”
“Savannah,” she introduced herself, “Why are you here?”
“I’m here to see your brother.”
“Are you his girlfriend?” she bluntly asked and my breath hitched.
“No,” I managed to mutter.
“Good, Drew’s evil,” she whined.
I couldn’t help but laugh at this, “Yeah he is,” I giggled and she gave me a big toothy grin.
“One time I was playing with my dolls then he-”
“Savannah!” the little girl didn’t get to finish what she was saying because Drew stormed out of the house wearing a pair of jeans and a white v-neck under his black jacket.
Swoon.
No Celeste, don’t swoon over him!
“What were you saying to Celeste?” he asked his little sister then Savannah started shaking her head.
“Nothing,” she squeaked out.
“Enough you two,” Ariel interrupted though there was an amused glint in her eyes, “I think Drew and Celeste should be going now.”
“You know where we’re going and you’re fine with it?” I asked. Sure Ariel seems cool and all but she was still a parent who wouldn’t like it if her child was in a house full of alcohol and horny teenagers.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I be fine with a school project?” she replied while tilting her head to the side in question.
I stole a glance at Drew and he had this stoic expression plastered on his face, “Bye mom,” he muttered, turning around and proceeded to walk to the driveway where my car was parked.
“Bye Ariel, bye Savannah,” I smiled politely, following Drew.
I slid into the driver’s seat and drove out of their driveway.
“A project?” I asked and the guy sitting beside me only rolled his eyes.
“Do you think I’ll tell my mom that I’ll be going to a house full of alcohol and horny teenagers?” he snorted.
Looks like we were on the same page.
I only shrugged at him and the rest of the ride was silent mostly because Drew pulled out his phone and started playing with it.
I could hear music blasting at least five blocks away from the Smith brothers’ house. The street was full of cars and I had no choice other than to walk the rest of the distance.
“I’m starting to regret my decisions already,” Drew mumbled next to me.
“Just relax,” I reassured him, “It’s fine to have a little fun now and then.”
The music slowly became louder and louder and a huge house came into view. Red solo cups were currently decorating the nicely kept front lawn and I few couples were openly making out.
With the front door wide open, you could see that the inside was packed. You should really expect that when you yelled out the invitation to the whole cafeteria.
“I’m regretting my decision already,” Drew repeated and I only rolled my eyes.
I looped my arm around his arm – ignoring the tingles I felt when I did – and started to drag him nearer to the house.
We passed Jessica’s house that was just next to the Smith brothers’. I’m pretty sure she’s already inside having a line of boys trying to her to have a quickie with them and knowing her, she already kicked half of those boys on their special area.
“We’re here,” I announced, taking a step on the porch while I still had my arm looped around Drew’s.
I felt his body stiffen next to me and I slowly led us inside. Music pumped inside our ears and a huge sea of teenagers was at the dance floor. More like grinding with each other while holding cups of alcohol.
“You know I could just wait in the car,” Drew started, twisting his arm off of mine. He started backing away but I grabbed the back of his collar.
“You’re not used to this, aren’t you?” I asked and he nodded automatically.
“Come on,” I gestured him to follow me before walking to the table at the far side of the room. There were various snacks on it and a huge keg of beer.
“You drink?” I asked and he scoffed.
“Of course.”
Getting two cups, I filled them up with the alcoholic drink and handed him one. Without any hesitation, he drowned the beer while tilting his head back. With a look of satisfaction, he filled the cup again but this time, he only took a sip before smirking at me.
“Told you,” he said rather smugly.
Rolling my eyes, I took a sip of my own drink and proceeded to give him a tour of the house. I’ve been over this place for a hundred of times mostly because the Smith brothers’ parents were business partners with my own and they usually invite us to family dinners much to my dismay.
“And here are the bedrooms,” I gestured to a hall full of closed doors, “Don't go into one,” I warned him.
He seems to catch on quickly and nodded instantly especially when we heard a moan behind one of those doors.
“Lucas,” A pitch voice moaned from one of the rooms. We looked at each other before hastily leaving the area full of couples hooking up.
“Celeste!” we both whipped our heads to the source of the call. Jessica was practically sprinting to our direction, her heels didn’t even caused her a slight wobble.
When she reached us, she grabbed my arm and turned to Drew, “Can I borrow her for a quick minute?” she asked and he nodded, waving us off.
Not a minute too soon, Jessica started pulling me to the kitchen which was empty aside from the couple making out on the kitchen counter. I looked at them in disgust but my best friend simply ignored them.
“What’s going on?” I asked and she started wringing her hands in nervousness.
“I kissed Blake,” she blurted out and I stared at her with wide eyes. Noticing that a few people started to go inside the kitchen, I pulled her into an empty bedroom for more privacy.
“Details. Now.” I demanded and she sighed before dropping down on the bed.
“There was this guy who was flirting me but he wouldn’t take a hint,” she frowned, “I even bluntly told him that I wasn’t interested and Blake was next to me so I kissed him to make the guy who was flirting with me to go away.”
“How did Blake react?” I asked, taking a seat next to her.
“After I explained the situation to him, he seems to be fine with everything,” she groaned, “Then he started acting normally as if nothing happened between us.”
I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion – if Blake was fine with everything then I don’t see what the problem here is.
“So?” I asked and a pained expression flashed across her face but it was quickly gone.
“Nothing,” she shook her head before she plastered a big happy smile on her face, “I just wanted to gush about it to someone.”
Rolling my eyes playfully, “Same Jessica as always.”
She giggled before skipping to the door, “I’ll see you later, Cel,” she beamed before swinging the door open and exiting the room leaving me sitting on the bed alone.
Shaking my head, I stood up just when Lucas walked inside. I took his appearance and looked at him in disgust, his shirt was wrinkled and his hair was a mess. I’m pretty sure he just finished one of his shags.
“Hey Celeste!” he greeted in a teasing tone and I instinctively took a step back.
“Go away, Lucas,” I snarled.
“Don’t do that Celeste,” he said, feigning offence, “You look hot tonight.”
Damn blush. Even if I hated the guy, he was still the first person to compliment tonight. Drew didn’t even comment on this dress that was shorter than the ones I usually wear.
Why do I even care what Drew thinks?
“You changed, Celeste,” he breathed out, closing the door behind him, “What happened to our nerd?”
I crossed my arms around my chest and snorted, “Maybe she finally realized that she’s worth more than what you made her believe.”
Lucas’ face morphed into a one of guilt as he slowly approached me. I started backing down until my legs hit the bed, preventing me from going any further.
“If only you knew,” he whispered, approaching me.
What did he mean by that? What did he meant when he said that if only I knew?
My questions flew out of my brain because the next thing I knew was Lucas Fucking Smith’s lips were pressed against mine.
