the redhead

Best Friend - Rex Orange County

Millie's P.O.V

"Okay, when?" I asked

"Right now," He says calmly. He unlocks the door and opens it wide and lets me out first.

"What?" The hallway was entirely empty with no student in sight.

"Sadie's agreed to help you get ready," Finn said as he pushed me out of the janitors closet.

"Wait," I said as I stopped Finn from pushing me any further. "I can't just ditch, my dad's gonna kill me," Finn rolled his eyes.

"You're such a goody to shoes," This time I rolled my eyes.

"It's fine, just lie to your dad," He said as he shrugged his shoulders. My jaw dropped hearing at how calm he is about ditching. "I can't lie to my dad!" I said vigorously.

"Why can't we do this another day?" I asked.

"Cause this is the only day that Sadie's available." He said as he pulled me closer to the school's exit. His hand was locked on my wrist.

"Well, why not after school?" I asked as I pulled my arm away from him.

"Cause she has to go somewhere after school, now common, Sadie's waiting and she's not as patient as you think," He said as he waved his hand signaling for me to follow him. Well, I have an AP test today and I really don't feel like taking it. Might as well ditch. "Fine," I said as I followed him. A mischievous smirk grew on his lips. A couple of seniors were roaming around the parking lot, probably because they have a free period in the morning. My eyes caught a redhead leaning against a shiny silver car with a pair of shades on. It was pretty sunny outside which was understandable. She looked up from her phone spotting me and Finn. She nods disappointingly as she walks toward us.

"What took you so long?" Her red eyebrows matched with her red hair was knitted together with her arms crossed. "Sorry Sadie, it took a while for me to convince her to come,"

"Well common, we're gonna be late," She said as she walked to the driver's seat of her car. I hesitantly grabbed the handle of her car door and went inside.

"Have fun you two," He said as he shut my door. Sadie backed away from the parking lot and drove off with Finn saluting bye. I watched as the school went farther away. I turned back around and face the front of the car. What have I gotten myself into? I glanced at Sadie seeing her bobbing her to the music. She seemed to like common popular songs which I have never gotten into. She noticed my glance at her and smiled. "Sorry I haven't introduced myself," She said as she lowered the music down.

"The name's Sadie," She said as she had her hand out for me to shake.

"Millie," I said as I shook her hand. We were both silents for a couple of seconds.

"I hope you're aware that Finn just suddenly brought me to you, so where exactly are we going?" I asked. She chuckled as she holds the steering wheel with one hand. "I'm guessing Finn wasn't very detailed about the party," I nod disappointingly making her chuckle. I chuckle awkwardly with my ring.

"Well, Finn's parents have very high expectations about him..."

"Including his dates?" I asked.

"Including his dates...so he believes that you can't really place a good impression on his parents." My ego sunk after hearing her say that. It's not like I really had one. "Thank's why he' asking my help to get you ready for the party." I nod as I pursed my lips.

"You seem pretty calm about Finn asking you to be his date," She said as she glanced at me.

"Is that a bad thing?" I asked. She chuckled again.

"No, it isn't," She said with a smile on her lips. "I actually like you more compared to the other dates that he was forced to bring," Sadie stated. How many parties does his family have?

"Thanks," I said shyly as I stared at my lap. We were both quiet again.

"How do you know Finn?" I asked.

"He was my boyfriend," She blatantly stated. I almost jumped out of my seat hearing that. Are they dating? What the hell am I doing here then? Is she secretly driving me to the forest so she could stab me to death and hide me for no one to find me? My stomach suddenly tightened at the thought of her killing me. Was she faking all her smiles in front of me?

"And you're okay with me being Finn's date?" I asked nervously.

"Of course I am," I sigh with relief but gave her a confused expression.

"We're not dating anymore," I nod finally connecting the dots.

"I'm actually dating someone right now, his names Caleb," She said proudly. Caleb is in a couple of my classes.

"Good for you," She chuckled at my awkwardness.

"I like you, Millie, I really hope we can be good friends," She said with a smirk on her lips.

"Me too," I said smiling back. It has been a really long time since I've had a civil conversation with anyone without being called a freak. Sadie has officially made my day.

(A/N): PLEASE FORGIVE ME!! I'll update more often. I've just been really busy.
