Chapter: 1
Paige had served the same coffee to the same guy for years. He was was handsome. Smart.
The whole package. He was everything she ever wanted, or so she thought.
"Just go talk to him already!" Her good friend and colleague advised her.
"I can't."
Alice groaned.
"Stop saying you can't! You can! Now go!"
The friend grabbed the receipt and wrote her Paige's number onto the back.
"What-"
"Give this to him."
"But-"
"Butts are for sitting on. Go!"
Alice pushed her friend out from behind the counter.
The man looked up.
Paige sweat dropped and looked back at the blonde who was cheering her on from behind the coffee machine.
Paige gulped.
"Here you go," she smiled. "That'd be 7.50."
"Here you go, pretty lady."
Paige blushed and was about to turn around when the guy grabbed her hand.
The girl was startled and stared at him with wide eyes.
"S-sorry," he stammered and let go of the waitresses hand. "Um, I was just wondering... um would you perhaps want to grab coffee some time?"
Paige blushed and laughed a little.
"What- oh, right. This is a coffee shop. I ... am so stupid."
The girl shook her head. "Don't say that. It's cute how nervous you are."
"Well," he smiled. "It's hard not to be when you're asking out a girl like you."
Paige smiled.
"How about dinner." She suggested.
"Tonight." He added.
"Seven o'clock?"
"I'll meet you here."
"Great." The man smiled and got up, leaving the little cafe. On his way out he looked back a few times and ran into the glass door.
He blushed. "That was embarrassing." He mumbled as he pulled on the handle. The door didn't open.
"It says 'push', Matt!" Paige called. The brunette boy pushed against the door and it opened.
Paige could see his face blushing a deep scarlet as he darted out the door chanting. "Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Fuckin' Moron."
She chuckled a bit as she walked back to her trusty colleague.
"And how'd it go?" The blond asked eagerly almost crushing the glass in her hand.
"Well," she started grinding the coffee beans into fine powder. "He asked me out."
Alice squealed in excitement and jumped up and down.
"Alice, calm down it's just a date."
"Just a date? You haven't gone out with anyone in FOREVER!"
Paige chuckled and kept her eyes focused on her work.
"It's because I haven't liked anyone in forever."
"Well," Alice took away the grinder and looked into her friends eyes. "Good that you found him."
Paige was about to say something when the door opened.
"HELLO BITCHES, LARS IS IN THE HOUSE!" The tall, slender man laughed as he cat-walked to the two girls behind the counter. "All you girls may now weep, because you can't have me."
Paige shook her head and chuckled. "Lars, what the actual fuck."
"Mhm, you better deal with it baby. Yo gay ass best friend is here, time to partay." Lars said in the gayest way possible while doing his signature 'z'-snap.
Paige laughed as she slid over the counter to hug her best friend.
"How are you?" He laughed.
Paige looked up and ruffed through his short curly hair. "I'm awesome as always." She said doing a little twirl.
"Oohh what got my little butterfly so... Whats the word no one uses to describe you- oh right! Happy."
"Shut up." The girl rolled her eyes with a smirk on her face. "Wrong question by the way."
The boy raised an eyebrow and watched her slide beneath the counter to get back to her work. "Oh?"
"Yeah. Not 'what', but rather 'who'."
The green eyed boy clapped his hands in excitement. "Oooooh who's the lucky one."
"His name is Matt, he's really sweet and he's really smart too."
Silence.
Paige turned around to find her friend just standing there with his one eyebrow raise in the air like he was pointing at something.
"What?" She asked laughing nervously.
"A guy? Really?"
"Yeah," Paige turned around again, avoiding eye-contact. "So what?"
"So what?! We both know you are as straight as rainbow spaghetti with pink sprinkles served by a fucking unicorn on fucking rollerblades in a gay bar wearing a fucking string tanga."
"Thats oddly specific."
Lars sighed in defeat.
"So are you guys dating?"
"No."
Suddenly the boy brightened up. "So you just fancy him!"
"No."
Lars frowned. "Then what?"
"He asked me out to dinner at seven."
"And you're going?" He asked rhetorically.
"Yes."
"I'm done." Lars groaned wiping his hand across his face. "You know what." He looked up. "If you're as straight as you say you are, he's gonna make a move tonight." Paige looked at him with a concerned expression. "And you're not gonna say no, but if you are as gay as i know you are, you're not even gonna be able to kiss him."
"Deal." Paige said.
The flamboyant queer turned on his heel and waved behind himself. "Call me when you're ready to tell me i won."
"Yeah, yeah."
"Toodles!"
The bell rang as he pushed open the door. Paige laughed as she went back to grinding her coffee beans.
"Toodles."
*
7:00 pm.
Paige closed the door behind herself and locked up the little shop.
He phone lit up and a loud 'ping' was audible. She looked at it. A text. From Lars.
'If I'm right, we're finding you a girlfriend.'
She groaned and texted back.
'If you're wrong, you have to stop bugging me. IM NOT EVEN BI FOR DAMNS SAKE!'
"Who're you textin'?" Paige jumped up and almost dropped her phone.
"Oh sorry," Matt laughed. "I didn't mean to scare you."
He seemed a lot calmer than before. "Ah it's no big deal."
They both smiled as he took her hand and lead her down the dark roads of Berlin.
"So," she started breaking the ice. "Where are we going?"
"The absolute BEST diner in the world." He said, not looking back at her.
"Oh ok." She said as she let herself be lead by him.
Approximately 12 minutes later they arrived at a little hidden diner.
Harvey's Rollin' Diner.
She stopped to read the sign, but Matt had already begun tearing her inside.
They sat down in a little booth in the corner. A girl in skimpy clothing rollerbladed over to them.
Paige watched her carefully as the waitresses breasts almost bursted out of her shirt. She looked over at Matt, she smiled. He wasn't looking at her.
She breathed easily, knowing that this was going very well.
They ordered some food, ate and by the time they'd gotten done paying, it was already 12:46.
"So, Matt Donavan." She started as they walked through the moonlight park. "Yes, Paige Morgan?"
"What is your deal?"
"What do you mean?"
"Why'd you ask me out?"
"Why does anyone do anything. Because they either want to or need to. In my case it was both."
"Both?" Paige asked in surprise.
"I've been planning to do so since a while now."
"Wow," Paige looked up at the sky. "I'm honoured."
After a while the view of the stars was blocked by a dark block in the sky. She looked down. "Where are we?" Paige asked as her date opened the door. "My place."
