Chapter 3: Where am I?

"Ow!" I shot up in bed, my head was pounding.

The bright rays of sunlight coming in through the window burned my eyes. I felt parched and my throat was scratchy. I searched the luxurious room, finding myself in a strange, unfamiliar place. It looked like a lavish hotel room, with a huge fluffy King sized bed. I rubbed my eyes trying to get a good view of my surroundings.

Wait, why am I waking up in this hotel room, and how did I get here?

I quickly scanned the room for any clue as to why I was here. Glancing down, I found myself still wearing Heather's dress. My hair was a tousled, tangled mess and my makeup was smeared on my face and on the silky pillow case. Climbing out of the King sized bed, I found that there was no one else in the room. I felt strangely disoriented, and my heart was racing from anxiety.

What happened last night?

Oh right, that stranger, he must have roofied me! John something ... he never told me his full name!

I heard faint footsteps drawing nearer and then someone using the key to open the door. Reaching for the lamp next to me, I prepared myself to use it as a weapon. The door slowly creaked open, and I saw the silhouette of a tall man entering. I immediately hit him with the lamp, and automatically screamed out of fear. My heart was pumping from the adrenaline coursing through my body. My body was tense and ready to run. The man fell to the ground, holding up his hands up in defense.

"Please stop it! Why are you hitting me?" The man sounded hurt.

Oh no, I recognize that voice!

I took a good look at him and saw that it was Jin!

"Oh my God Jin! I'm so sorry! I didn't know it was you!" I apologized , but then my eyes narrowed at Jin, "wait why are you here?"

It dawned on me! Why else would he be here?

"Did you work with John to do this to me?" I shouted accusingly pointing the lamp at him like a weapon.

"Wait, no! I saved you!" Jin explained as he put his hands up to stop me.

"What did you do to me?" I felt tears starting to form.

Loud banging on the door interrupts us. "It's Security! We have a complaint of loud screaming coming from this room, we need to enter the room!" The man shouted, behind the closed door.

"Tell them you're okay!" Jin pleaded with me.

"But I'm not okay! You roofied me and did who knows what to me while I was unconscious!" My voice rose from anger and fear.

The security guard outside the room yelled, "I am entering the room!"

He used his master key, and forced open the door. He found me disheveled, gripping tightly to the lamp in my hand. Jin was sprawled on the floor wearing his pink pajamas and looking so innocent, yet hurt.

How could I think Jin could do something so terrible to me?

Jin wouldn't hurt a fly, let alone roofie some stranger when he can easily get any woman he wanted.

"Ma'am, please put down the lamp!" The security guard tried to calm me down.

"Okay, I'm sorry. I thought he attacked me last night." I placed the lamp back on the table with my hands up to show I was no longer a threat.

"Do we need to call the police?" The security guard asked me, reaching for his radio.

I shook my head vehemently, "No it's okay, I think I made a mistake."

"You two need to quiet down or we will kick you both out for disturbing the peace!" The guard warned us sternly.

"Yes sir we will, I'm sorry again." I said and Jin nodded his head in agreement.

After taking a final disapproving look at us, the security guard left the room. I was left standing there, not sure what to say, and feeling embarrassed. Jin was picking himself up off the floor and rubbing his head where I hit him.

I hope I didn't hit him too hard...

I bowed low to Jin, "I'm sorry".

He looked taken aback by my apology and bowed back to me, "It's okay, I must have frightened you."

"Yes, you did!" I chuckled awkwardly. "Do you happen to know why I'm here?"

"I saved you last night. That man you were with, he roofied you, and tried to take you to his hotel room." Jin recalled. "I thought it was weird that he got drinks from the bar, since we had a waiter in the VIP room to order drinks from. I thought I saw him subtly put a white powder in your drink, and bring it to you. I tried to get your attention, but you wouldn't look my way."

So that's why he kept staring at me last night! That explains a lot, he wasn't checking me out, he was trying to warn me!

I felt stupid and wanted to bury my head in the dirt.

"When I got up to confront him, he was taking you out of the nightclub. I followed him, and asked him where he was going. He said you had too much drink and wanted to go back to the hotel room." Jin continued. "I told him I wanted to take you to see Heather and that she would take you home since you arrived with her."

As he mentioned Heather, I suddenly wondered where was Heather during all of this?

"That guy was furious I interfered and left you in the streets stumbling. I asked you if you were okay, but you were passing out and incoherent. I couldn't find Heather and I tried calling her, but she didn't pick up her phone."

That's strange, she always answers her calls!

"I decided to take you to my hotel room, since it's close to the nightclub, and help you get home in the morning. I'm sorry I had been drinking too, so I didn't think things through. I should have taken you to the hospital last night, but don't worry I slept on the couch..."

"No it's okay, I'm glad you brought me here. I don't like causing a commotion over nothing." I thought of what could of happened, if I had gone to the hospital. I wouldn't hear the end of it from my parents, that's for sure! They'd probably force me to move back home, since I clearly can't handle myself in the real world.

"But this was a crime, not nothing." Jin said his tone sounded serious.

"I know, you're right, but it's okay. I just need to call Heather." I started to dial her number.

Did Heather abandon me and disappear?
