Chapter 2: Beautiful Stranger
I stared at Jin in disbelief with my mouth agape. I could not believe how much more stunning he was in person. He was wearing an expensive looking designer grey suit, and his hair was neatly styled with it combed to the side. My heart raced at the sight of him.
Jin was sitting in the VIP booth behind me, with two other men. One of the men was his manager Sejin, but the other man I wasn't familiar with. He was probably Jin's body guard, since he looked very intimidating and muscular. The three men were happily drinking and laughing, while speaking in Korean. I only understood a little bit of what they were saying, since my Korean American parents only spoke English to me. It sounded like Jin was telling them one of his infamous dad jokes, and I found myself wishing I could understand the joke.
My bias in BTS is Taehyung, AKA V. However, seeing Jin in person was making me rethink my bias, he is definitely one of my bias wreckers. The TV screen really did not do his good looks justice. He also seemed much taller and more slender in person, with his pale skin almost glowing. He looked so picturesque, I couldn't help but stare.
As I was glancing his way, our eyes met. He must have caught me staring at him! I blushed a crimson red and quickly glanced away.
Oh great, he's going to think I'm a weird sesang.
I pretended I didn't know who he was, so that Jin could enjoy his night like a normal person. He deserved to have a fun night, without fans mobbing him for autographs and selfies.
I began wondering why he was here though? How could Heather know Jin? And how could she not tell me when she knows how much I love BTS?
Speaking of Heather, where is she?
I hadn't seen her in a while, she should have come back by now. I scanned the VIP room, but she was nowhere to be found. I got up, looking over the stairway into the crowd of dancing people. I didn't see her anywhere. That's weird, she wouldn't leave her party like that. As I was lost in thought worrying about Heather, someone tapped me on the shoulder.
"Excuse me, I don't believe we've met." said a husky voice, coming from a tall handsome man.
There were so many handsome men here tonight! This good looking stranger had dark brown hair, and steely blue eyes. He was wearing a nice suit and looked like he could be a movie star.
"Hi I'm Cora." I replied nervously feeling intimidated by his good looks.
With all these beautiful women around us, why did he come talk to me?
"Cora, I'm John. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Why hasn't Heather ever introduced me to her beautiful friend?" John asked me with a wink.
"Well, I don't go out much, especially not to these types of functions." I said softly.
"You look lonely sitting here, do you mind if I have a seat?" He lowered himself in the empty seat next to me, clearly not taking no for an answer.
I was grateful for the company and quickly nodded my head.
"Can I buy you a drink?" He smiled brightly, showing his pearly white teeth.
I paused for a moment. I didn't know this guy, but then again he must be friends with Heather. I figured he should be okay.
"Ok...sure." I hesitantly said.
"Alright, I'll go to the bar to get it. My friend is the bartender and he hooks me up." John got up with a grin and left me to get the drinks.
That was when I noticed Jin was looking my way again! He seemed to be observing my interaction with John for some reason.
I wasn't used to this kind of attention. Men never paid attention to me. Heather really does work miracles!
Wait, there's no way Jin would be checking me out. I needed to be realistic, maybe there was something in my hair. I took out my phone, turning on the camera to use as a mirror. Nope, everything looked fine. I was stumped, maybe Jin knew John... and he was wondering why he would be talking to a girl like me.
John quickly returned with two glasses of champagne and I was surprised how fast he came back. That bar was packed full of people, and he hardly waited more than a minute. He really must be friends with the bartender. I thanked him, and started to slowly sip on the drink. The bubbles tickles my lips, it was so sweet and went down easy. I had a low tolerance to alcohol so I already felt tipsy from that one drink.
John turned to me, and sneakily placed his arm around my shoulder. I felt the hairs on my skin rise, and a pit in my stomach. Why was I getting bad vibes from this guy? I moved away slightly to give myself room. I didn't want to be rude, but I didn't like getting close to strangers, even if they were wee as handsome as John.
"So, how do you know Heather ?" John asked me with that perfect smile of his.
"We're childhood friends from high school." I answered.
"That's nice. You two must be very close."
"Oh yes, we're best friends, but we don't hang out as much as we used to, we're both very busy."
"I imagine" John said as he watched me finish off the champagne.
"She's a busy lady, running her own business." He almost sounded patronizing.
I frowned at his remark, but suddenly I started to feel very dizzy. Wow, this drink is much stronger than I thought. Somehow, I already felt very drunk and drowsy. My eye lids felt very heavy, and I started slurring my speech. The loud music around me started to grow fainter. I glanced around frightened, but people were shaking their heads at me, like I was acting like a drunken fool.
John grinned at me in a very malevolent way. He pulled me to closer to him and I felt like vomiting.
Oh no what's happening to me? Did he put something in my drink?
The room felt like it was spinning, and everything finally goes dark and silent.
