CHAPTER 38

CASSANDRA

"I still couldn't believe this," I commented still looking at the piece of paper in my hand that tells us that we are not siblings at all.

Was this true? Or perhaps it would change once again after we took another test. I didn't know what to believe anymore.

"With what? With the fact that you ended up in my bed last night?" Calix asked sardonically as he went out of the bathroom fresh from his shower.

I glared at him insolently, not caring how insanely tempting he was at the moment with his hair still damp from the shower and there was only a white towel wrapped around his lower waist to cover his nudity.

After having sex in his apartment yesterday I told him that I didn't want to spend the night in his apartment and that I wanted to go home which he readily agreed. The reason why I wanted to go home was that I wanted to be alone as I gathered all my thoughts at this sudden revelation that proved that he was not my half-brother.

I spent the last two years of my life trying to accept the fact that I fell in love with my half-brother and when I thought that I would finally be able to accept it this happened.

When I told him last night that I wanted to be alone as I planned on what to do next. It seemed that he also had other ideas in mind. He invited himself over and decided to stay for the night.

Of course, knowing Calix Spiridakou. Sleeping here--the literal meaning of the word was not on the agenda. He confessed to me shamelessly that he had every intention of seducing me again and again until the last two years that we've been apart would fill the void.

And since I was weak when it came to him. I found myself giving in to the temptation and letting myself get bewitched by him.

I knew very well about his legendary stamina and he proved to me last night that he was still a beast in bed. I lost count of how many times we did the deed last night. All I knew was that he spent all my energy and that I was so tired this morning.

Realizing that I haven't retorted back yet about his innuendo. I threw a disapproving look at him. "You know that's not what I meant. I am talking about this DNA result. Is this the final result? What if this is--"

"We are not siblings," he said with finality. "I don't know what happened to the first DNA test I have with your father but I intend to know how that shit happens."

I stared at him for a long moment. Here I was, naked on the bed with only the blanket that was covering my modesty.

He walked towards the bed and leaned down to snatch the DNA result in my hand. "Stop worrying too much. I could already see how that little head of yours works. Relax, I will make sure to get to the bottom of this. I want to know if the first result was blotched or someone tempered on it."

I stared at him helplessly, from this distance I could see his blue eyes. "You think..."

"That's what I want to know," he said with a smile on his face. And since my guard was down he took the opportunity to steal a kiss on my unsuspecting lips.

Too late. Before I have the chance to react he already let out a victorious smile.

"Just like Aphrodite tempting a mere mortal early in the morning. I am getting a hard-on just looking at you wearing nothing but a blanket covering your naked body."

I grimaced at him and pulled the cover up to my neck. "After all the sex we did last night you still want more?"

"Moro mou," he said with a lazy smile on his handsome face. "You must know by now that my lust for you is insatiable. I can have you for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and midnight snack without getting tired of eating you."

I swore I blushed from head to toe with his words. Damned this man and his unfiltered mouth. I was about to say something to him when I heard the persistent ringing of my doorbell.

We both stared at each other. Calix's confusion about who might be my early caller turned into a scowl when he looked at me. "Are you expecting someone early this morning?"

I shook my head. I was sure that I was not expecting someone today. And then, it occurred me to that who might be my unexpected visitor. "Ah, that must be Dan."

I remember telling him that he was welcome to come to my apartment whenever he liked. He must be here to invite me for breakfast.

I threw the covers off my body and searched for my discarded clothes on the floor. I hastily put on my clothes while I was busy getting dressed from the corner of my eye I saw Calix's eyes narrowed in my direction.

"What?" I asked defensively while he tucked his arms in his middle while leaning his butt on the bedside table.

"Tell me the truth," there was an accusing tone in his voice. "Does he have the habit of visiting you in your apartment early in the morning?"

I rolled my eyes. I knew where this conversation would lead. His uncalled jealousy was getting the best of him again. If there was something about him, his stamina was limitless and so was his jealousy. I wonder when he would stop getting jealous over my friendship with Dan. "Don't get there. I told you, he is just a friend and nothing more."

"You didn't answer my question."

I sighed deeply. I knew he wouldn't stop until I gave the answer that he wanted. I could lie to him to ease his worries but I didn't want to lie to this man. Besides, Dan and I weren't doing anything. We were just friends that was it. "Yes, he often visits me in my apartment even back in Japan. We used to have breakfast together and even dinner. If he is not busy with his day he would visit me in the school where I work and often bring bento for me."

"What the actual fuck?!"

I could see the way his soul left his body. I think he didn't expect that at all. I didn't have time to get amused by his reaction as I looked at him sternly. "I say it again and again. He is just a friend and nothing more. I believe he is still in love with his ex. Now stay right here and behave. Don't go out. I will just send him away and then we'll continue our conversation."

He muttered something under his breath and I didn't quite catch what he had said. I paid him no mind as I went out of my room to answer the door.

As soon as I unlocked the door Dan barged inside my apartment like he used to do in Japan as if he also lived here.

"Took you so long to open the door. I nearly grew my roots outside your door waiting for you. I nearly thought that you were not around. Look, the Greek bread I bought was already cold."

I tried to comb my hair using my finger. I prayed that Dan wouldn't notice how disheveled my appearance was early in the morning. "What brings you here?"

He looked at me dryly. "Well, obviously, I came here to feed you. Besides, I jogged around early this morning and I found this delicious-looking bread they look delicious but I forgot their name. Do you have coffee in here?"

I followed him into the kitchen as he started checking the cupboards and drawers for the things he needed to make coffee.

I bit my bottom lip as I glanced discreetly at my bedroom door. Normally, I was more than happy to share breakfast with Dan but today was different. As much as I was reluctant to do it I needed to send him away since I didn't want him to find out that Calix spent the night in here. I was sure as hell that he wouldn't stop nagging me until I told him the whole story of how I ended up spending the night with Calix.

"Look, Dan--" I started, abruptly stopped when the door in my bedroom burst open and Calix walked out of my room wearing nothing but the white towel hanging low in his waist.

I stared at him with utter disbelief while Dan's jaw slacked. I swear I want to bash his head to the nearest countertop!

Calix ignored my deathly glare as he walked leisurely to where I was standing with a pleasant smile on my face. Before I could say anything he held my face with both of his hands and planted a kiss on my lips.

Oh, no, it wasn't one of those fleeting kisses you usually give when greeting your lover for the first time in the day. It was a blatant declaration of possession telling the world that I was his. His alone.

"Good morning, love," he said when was finally satisfied and unhurriedly removed his mouth from mine. He was acting as if this was the first time we saw each other this morning.

I flushed ignoring his greeting. I dared to look at Dan whose expression was so comical. He looked at me and then at Calix and then back to me with saucer-wide eyes. There was no doubt in his mind about what happened last night between me and my ex.

It was the first time I saw my dear friend rendered to be speechless.

"Good morning," for the first time since the two of them met. This was probably the only time he greeted Dan pleasantly. On the other hand, I think it wasn't a friendly greeting it was more of a goading way.

"Uh--good morning too?" Dan was still speechless. He looked at me worriedly. "I'm sorry for barging in. I didn't know that I was interrupting you guys. I'd better leave."

"Oh, no, you are not interrupting us," I replied trying to dispel the awkwardness inside my apartment at the moment.

"Yes, you are." Calix contradicted, pulling me closer to his body until my backside was already pressed to the hard contour of his body.

I glared at him trying to get away from him but he paid me no mind as his full attention was on Dan.

I heard Dan clear his throat. "I'd better go. See you around, Cassie.".

I watched my friend bolting out of my apartment door without even saying a proper goodbye to me. Once I was alone with this devil I glowered at him.

"What?" He asked innocently finally releasing me from his possessive grip.

"I scoffed, shaking my head. "Seriously? Do you need to ask? Haven't I told you to wait for me in my room while I try to send away Dan? Why did you go out looking like that? You might as well announce to him what we did last night."

He crossed his arms in his middle while shrugging indifferently. "So? That's the truth, isn't it? We did nothing wrong last night. We were both two consenting adults who had a night of fun in bed."

I scratched my scalp with my fingernails to ease my frustration. Seriously, I couldn't keep up with his logic. I knew what he said had been right and yet it still sounded so wrong.

I looked away from his glinting blue eyes. "What do you want for breakfast?" I asked completely changing the topic.

A slow sexy smile appeared on his face. He leaned down to suck my neck seductively. "I'd rather eat you for breakfast, moro mou."

My breath was caught. The feel of his lips on the tender skin of my neck was too much for me. However, I needed to fight the temptation he was offering me. "Food. I am talking about food, Calix. I am off the menu."

"Is that so? What a shame, then." He whispered irresistibly against my skin.

I thought he would already stop but then he continued with his quest and his mouth trailed from my neck down to my chest. I let out a small squeak when he lifted me off and put me on the kitchen counter.

I knew his intention very well but the question was, do I have the power to stop him when he knew very well all of my sensitive spots?

"Calix..." I said incoherently while he spread my legs apart and he positioned himself between my legs.

"You like this too, right?" He asked while teasing me with a series of little kisses on my jawline. "Admit it, Cass."

All the answer I could give was a small moan. "Oh, dear Lord..."

I bit my bottom lip when his hand found its way inside my shirt. He cupped my breast easily since I was not wearing a bra.

"Would you let me have you for breakfast, Cass?" He whispered against my ear and his breath was tickling me.

I knew when I was beaten. There was no point in denying what was obvious. "Y-Yes..."

He let out a soft chuckle as he removed my clothes expertly. Once again, I was butt naked while sitting on the kitchen countertop. And before I knew it he was already deep inside me while kissing me fervidly.

I never thought that I would feel this again. Only Calix has the power to make me feel I am safe and loved as long as I am with him.

Yes, only him...
