Chapter 4

I lightly rested two fingers on the Ouija board's pointer and looked to Ty, who was eyeing the board skeptically.

"Maybe this is a bad idea," He said, crossing his arms over his chest.

"It was your idea, genius," I said and grabbed his hand, forcing it onto the pointer. He rested two fingers on it, like I had, and sighed, waving his free hand at me. "Details, details," He muttered and focused his attention on the board. Oliver smirked and rested his finges on the cursor.

"Ask away," Oliver said with a mischievious grin. I smiled lightly at him and turned to face Ty.

"Go ahead," I encouraged Ty. "Ask him stuff."

"Why did you choose Catalyst, of all people, to strike a deal with?" Ty asked, jumping straight to the point. Oliver smirked as he moved the pointer to each letter and gave a short chuckled at Ty's astonished look. When Oliver was done, we put the letter together.

How many people do you know that can see spirits? Plus she's cute, Oliver had spelled. I flushed and stared at the cursor, slightly too embarassed to look at Ty. I watched him out of the corner of my eye as he set his jaw.

"Okay then," said Ty, "Do you promise not to watch Catalyst in her sleep or something creepy like that?" I glared at him but couldn't help but smile a little.

Oliver laughed and moved the cursor over the letters and spelled out: I don't make promises I can't keep. I laughed but Ty didn't seem to find it very funny.

"Why did you choose to stay with Catalyst as your benefit from the deal?" Ty asked, his eyes faintly lit up with anger. Ty and I watched as Oliver spelled out: Why are you so jealous lover boy?

I paled and shot a glare at Oliver, who had sat back against the wall with a smug smirk on his face. Ty lifted his fingers from the pointer and pushed the board away, his face slightly red, and muttered, "I"ve asked all I want."

I sighed and pushed myself up off the floor, staggering to my feet. I glanced at my clock and frowned as it flashed to 10:57 PM. I was super tired and I had school tomorrow. I saw Ty's eyes flutter closed and I kicked his foot. His head shot up and he glared at me.

"What was that for?" He asked as he rubbed his foot.

"Don't fall asleep in my floor. If you intend to crash here then do it on the couch," I said and fell back onto my bed.

Ty yawned and shook his head. "No, no. I'll just head home." He got to his feet and patted me on the head. "See you tomorrow Tanson. Sleep well."

I yawned into my pillow and sighed. "You too."

Once he was gone, Oliver sat down on the bed beside me.

"Where do I sleep?" He asked.

I opened one eye and squinted at him. "Ghosts sleep?"

He chuckled and shook his head. "No, the silence was just uncomfortable."

I laughed lightly and staggered to my feet. I twisted the doorknob of my bathroom and looked at Oliver over my shoulder. "You," I pointed a finger at him, "stay here."

He smirked and leaned back, putting his arms behind his head. "Darn. I totally intended to follow you."

I stuck my tounge out at him and grabbed a random pair of pajamas from my drawer before locking myself in the bathroom. I changed into the tshirt and cut-off sweatshorts and brushed my teeth quickly then forced my wild hair into a loose ponytail. I stalked out of the bathroom and leaned against the doorway as Oliver stared at me. I raised an eyebrow at him curiously. "What are you looking at?"

Oliver paused for a moment then shook his head. "Nothing."

I shrugged and walked over to my bed where Oliver was laying.

"Shoo, peasant," I said and waved my hands at him. He snorted and rolled off the bed and I jumped onto it. I snuggled down into the covers and looked over at Oliver who had seated himself in my office chair by my desk. He smiled and wiggled his fingers at me. I snorted and sat up against my backboard.

"I thought you weren't gonna watch me sleep," I said an unpatient tone.

"Actually," Oliver smirked, "I never promised."

I rolled my eyes at him and muttered a quick 'whatever' under my breath and settled back into the warm covers of my bed. Within no time, I was fast asleep.

I groaned and slapped blindly at my alarm clock. When I finally found the off button, I sat up in my bed and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. I squinted at the end of my bed and jumped up. Oliver sat at the edge of my bed with his chin propped up on his hand. He gave me a mischievious smirk and nodded towards me.

"You talk in your sleep," He said, his eyes shimmering with laughter.

I stared at him in horror. "I do not!" I shouted.

He chuckled and waved a hand at me. "You do too."

I picked up a pencil and aimed it at him. He lifted his hands in surrender and laughed. "Don't shoot!"

I turned the pencil loosely between my fingers and held it like a dart. I closed one eye and laughed lightly. "I aim to kill, my friend."

He threw his arms wide and grinned. "I'm already dead sweetheart."

I rolled my eyes at him and walked over to my closet and shuffled through my clothes. I grabbed a pair of light skinny jeans and a chunky dark grey knitted sweater and walked into the bathroom. I took a quick shower, dried my hair, brushed my teeth, threw on my clothes, and dusted on a light layer of make up. I exited the bathroom and headed for the kitchen, beaconing for Oliver to follow me. He sat down at the dining room table as I poured myself a glass of milk and grabbed a Nutty Bar and a mandarin orange fruit cup from the pantry.

I sat down infront of Oliver and he gave me a horrified look while I took a swigg of milk and opened my fruit cup.

"What the heck kind of breakfast is that?" He asked as he stared at me.

I took a bite of the Nutty Bar and pointed it at him. "A breakfast of champions," I said with a smile and ate an orange slice. He scrunched his nose and chuckled. I finished my breakfast of champions and grabbed my satchel bag, slipping my sneakers on in the process. I stalked to the back room where my grandma sat. She smiled at me and I gave her a quick hug before turning and leaving the room.

Oliver followed me out the front door and down the fallen Autumn leaf covered driveway where Ty was waiting in his usual spot.I reached for the rusted handle of the truck's passenger side door and looked at Oliver over my shoulder.

"Are you getting in too?" I asked.

He shook his head and pointed down the street. "Nah, I'll meet you there."

"You know where the school is, right?" I inquired.

"No, but I can follow this very fine looking truck here," He said with a smirk as he patted the beat up hood of the truck. I laughed and opened the door, swinging myself up into my seat and slamming the door behind me. Ty grinned at me and lurched the truck forward onto the road.

"You look chipper this morning," I said as I set my bag down in the floorboard.

"I am very, thanks for noticing," Ty said with a laugh.

"What's got you in such a good mood? Did someone open a Star Wars Club at school?" I asked with a smirk.

He rolled his eyes and smiled again. "No, but today is Taco Tuesday at lunch!"

I snorted as gave him a grin. "You and your tacos."

He sighed. "Taco's will be the downfall of me."

I laughed as we arrive at our school and parked. We hopped out of the truck and I saw Oliver leaning against the hood.

"Nice school you got here Cat," He said with a gesture toward the building.

I sighed and grabbed my satchel from the truck and shut the door. "I wish. Oh and by the," I gave Oliver a pointed look, "try not to talk to me a whole lot while I'm in class. I have some tests I need to take notes for, plus I'm already the girl with one friend and I don't wanna be the girl that talks to herself either."

Oliver lifted his hand to his head in a salute. "Aye aye sir," He smirked and dropped his hand. I rolled my eyes at him and followed Ty into the school. When we got to our lockes, I saw a flyer taped to mine. I pulled it off and snorted.

"What is it?" Asked Ty, leaning over the flyer.

I held it up to him and rolled my eyes. "A poster for the Autumn Bash on Friday."

He laughed and took the flyer. "What is with people at this school and dances?"

"No idea," I sigh as I opened my locker.

"Hey," Ty said and smiled down at me, "Maybe we should go!"

I laughed and grabbed my Literature book. "Are you serious?"

"Yeah! It could be fun!" He said with a goofy grin.

"We don't even have dates," I said.

Ty rubbed the back of his neck and opened his locker. "We could go together."

I looked up at him, suprised. "You mean, as dates?"

He looked over at me and smiled lightly. "Yeah, why not? I mean, we've slept in the same bed together! Why would going to a dance together be weird?"

"Slept in the same bed together, huh?" Oliver smirked with a raised eyebrow.

I rolled my eyes at him. "We were seven."

Oliver smirked and leaned agaist my locker and I turned back to Ty.

"Fine, I'll go with you to the dance," I said with a sigh.

Ty grinned and slammed hi locker shut. "Sweet!"

"But," I scowled, "You have to go dress shopping with me."

"Of course! I know how much you hate shopping. Besides, if i didn't go with you, who would stop you from spending all your money on the food court?" He laughed.

I grinned at him and shrugged. "Good point."

We headed to our respective classes and I gave him a short wave before walking into my classroom. I took my usual seat in the very back and dropped my bag and my textbook onto the desk. Oliver sat down in the seat beside me and propped his head up on his chin.

"You hate shopping?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Very much so," I said as the bell rang. Mr. Stoutin, my homeroom and  Literature teacher, trudged into the room and called roll. I sighed and rested my head in the palm of my hand as he started his lecture for the day. My mind wandered and I quickly started to space out. I heard Oliver snicker at me but I ignored him. Class with him was going to be very fun, I can already tell.
