THE MORE SHE stared at the wall, the more she wanted to hit her head at it.
Rubbing her face in frustration, the woman paced around the prison to release the worry she was feeling. It had been an hour already ever since Charles was abducted and they were captured by Colonel Stryker. She wrung her hands together, releasing a breath.
She had already tried to incinerate the doors earlier, but before her energy could even reach it, the operators above them fired the compressed sound waves at her, incapacitating her once again. Stryker was really determined to lock them up for his plan.
Eleanor had tried to reach out to her children and Charles, but her telepathic abilities were being limited by the magnetic fields around the room. She could only sense them all and as of the moment, Charles' mind was being hidden from her. She knew it was En Sabah Nur who was doing that in order to conceal their location.
The woman couldn't also help her thoughts wander to Erik. If he knew Peter and her twins were his children, would he change his mind? Possibly, but sometimes Erik would be in too deep in his rage that he forgets the people that matters most to him.
"I'm so going to burn that En Sabah Nur's rotting gray ass." She muttered, scratching her head in frustration.
"Yes, me too. But first, we have to get out of here." Valerie beside her remarked, crossing her arms.
Eleanor sighed. "If only there was someone..." She paused, suddenly feeling a weak tug inside her mind. She tilted her head as she took a step forward and mumbled, "Jean?"
"Miss Ridges!"
The woman released a sigh in relief. "Where are you? Are you alright?" With all her might, she established their mental connection. Though it was only weak, it was enough to telepathically communicate with her.
"Yes, we are. We're here in this facility they are keeping you in. Do you know where you exactly are in right now?"
Eleanor glanced around, looking for anything that might give away their location. She snickered when she caught sight out of it on the side of the door. She pressed her finger to her temple. "B cell 64."
A few moments later, Jean spoke up again. "We found you, but we've got a little problem. Kurt can't get inside. We'll have to cut the power, ma'am. We'll be right back."
The woman nodded. "Alright, be careful. Oh, and uh, Jean... Nathan, Ana, and Jacob are also somewhere out there. If you ever see them, can you get them out too?"
"Yes, ma'am."
And with that, their connection was severed and she gasped, catching her breath. It took all of her strength to create the mental link between her and Jean since the field around the room was too strong for her to break. It was a miracle that she was able to do it. Eleanor furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. Was this a sign that her abilities have accelerated due to En Sabah Nur's amplification?
She decided not to delve further on that now. They needed to get out first and search for her children then save Charles and Erik from the false god.
"Hear me, inhabitants of this world."
Eleanor jumped, placing a hand over her chest. She spun around, immediately recognizing Charles' voice. She clenched her fist and shut her eyes, her body releasing a red mist around. "Charles?" She attempted to reach out.
"This is a message. A message to every man, woman and mutant. You have lost your way, but I have returned." He started his speech, shocking Eleanor. This was not him. Charles was being told to say those words. "The day of reckoning, it is here. All your buildings and temples will fall. The dawn of a new era will emerge. For there is nothing you can do... Ellie... to stop what is coming."
The woman perked up at the mention of her name, her irises glowing a bright red color. "Ellie, if you can hear me, focus on my voice. Cairo. Find us. Ellie, find us. Cairo. Find us." Focusing enough on his voice, she located his mind and immediately built a link between them. The magnetic field was heavily attempting to bar her from reaching him, but she pushed through despite of the pounding headache it was giving.
"I'm here, Charles."
"We're in Cairo, Ellie. He's waiting for you to come here... you're the... last person he needs to complete his... plan."
"Why me? What does he need me for?"
"This message is for one reason alone. To tell the strongest among you, those with the greatest power, protect those without. That's my message to the world." snarled Charles, ending his speech and losing her telepathic connection with him.
"How was Charles doing that without Cerebro, El?" questioned Hank.
Eleanor was about to answer him, but Stryker's voice boomed in the speakers. "I know that voice. It's Xavier, isn't it? What's going on?"
"We don't know!
"We don't know, bro!"
"Why is she like that? Does she know about what happened? Eleanor Ridges -- "
"I don't have the time to answer your intrepid questions, Colonel." She snapped. "So, stop bothering me."
Eleanor then paid no mind to him and instead worked to get Charles back to no avail. Everyone then discussed why her fiancรฉ had just spoke to all of them simultaneously without the aid of Cerebro. She herself was bothered with what Charles had just told her. What was her work in the plan?
"What are they doing?" Moira asked, noticing the soldiers and operators panicking outside of their cell.
"What's going on?"
That's when everything descended into chaos.
Loud screams and slashes came from outside the window above them, forcing them all to move back in fear. It was a slaughter. Whoever was the intruder had no mercy towards the soldiers outside. "Get back! Go!" Eleanor and Valerie shouted, putting themselves at the front in case the intruder decided to jump down at them.
"What the hell was that?" Raven demanded, panicking.
"Kurt!" Hank pointed to the window once again. They all turned around to see the blue-skinned teleporter outside of it, making some hand gestures.
"What?"
"Hey," he started, his voice now resonating in the speakers. "Stay away from the..."
"The what?"
"Th... door... Stay away from the..." he gestured a square with his hands and then moving away.
Eleanor immediately caught on to what he was meaning to say and pushed everyone back. "Get away from the door!"
"The door! The door!"
Valerie stood in front of the group, conjuring an invisible forcefield around them all.
"On three... One, two..."
The door was blasted open, sending multiple debris everywhere but to them, all thanks to Valerie's strong barriers. Eleanor was the first to come out, seeing Jean and Scott outside. The boy had just put in his glasses, meaning he used his optic blast to get them out. "Thanks, Scotty. You did a good job." She embraced him, patting his back before hugging Jean too.
"We know where the Professor is." Jean spoke up, swallowing.
"I know where he is too, dear. We're going to get him."
"I think we also might have found a way out of here."
"Well, you've been busy." noted Raven as she ran outside of their cell.
"Yeah, we, uh, we had a..." Scott paused. "a little help." He gulped. "We, uh, already found where the kids are, but it's kind of impossible to get them out even with the power outage." He continued. "We think you're the only one who can get through, ma'am."
"Take me to them now." Eleanor nodded, glancing at Valerie who was brushing the dust off her shoulders. "Let's go."
They all ran towards the location of the children with Scott and Jean, leading the way. "Watch out!" warned Kurt as he teleported in front of Peter."
"Jesus!"
"Oh, sorry."
"This way!" Scott turned to his right and was met by seven soldiers who had their guns raised.
"Stand down, you freaks!" shouted one of them, ready to pull the trigger. "Or we will all shoot you!" All of them directed their rifles towards them, making Eleanor roll her eyes in utter vex.
"I don't have the time for this fuckery right here." the woman took a step forward and one of the soldiers instantaneously fired a shot. The bullet whizzed past the side of her head and almost hit Jean. Eleanor gritted her teeth at this and tilted her head in a threatening manner, darkly staring at them all. Her eyes glowed a bright red light and her palms created energy orbs as she clenched her jaw. All their green laser sights were pointed at her and she scoffed.
Something in her burned like a fire that was slowly consuming her whole. She registered it as anger, anger for what they attempted to do to her and her beloved student. She almost felt like she could end the soldier with the snap of her fingers. Eleanor felt her power grow chaotic inside of her, raging to get out.
"Did you really fired that shot at me, you asshole?" growled the woman, scowling. "You know, you're making me want to end your miserable life right now, but be thankful that I'm still merciful, so off you go."
And with that, she finally twirled her hands and shot an energy blast at the person at the left, throwing him off his feet. "Valerie!" she yelled, knowing what was going to happen next.
"On it!"
Several shots were then fired at their direction, but all were rendered useless against her companion's forcefield. Fueled by her anger at this, she unleashed a wave of red psionic force that sent them flying to the walls, rendering them senseless. The brunette then confidently sauntered to the lone soldier at the center. Her eyes narrowed at him and he knelt in pain, holding his head in his hands. She was inflicting him with telepathic bolts enough to crush his mind, but then she remembered she wasn't a killer. Releasing a grunt, she let go of his mind and the soldier crashed to the ground, half-dead.
"Please... don't kill me." begged the man, trembling and groaning.
Eleanor's eye twitched and she knelt down. "This is your only warning, soldier. Do not cross my path again if you don't want me to destroy you." And with that, she touched his temple and shut down his mind to make him fall asleep.
As soon as her power died down, Eleanor realized what she had done and looked at her hands in fear. Just that moment, she felt the limitless possibilities she could do and what even scared her further was that she almost felt no remorse about it. Had it not for her strong conscience, she would've torn him apart and incinerated him.
Eleanor felt like a new power within her was finally set free and she sighed, shaking her head. This was not her, something within her had changed. I just have to maintain control, I think. She thought to herself.
Little did she know, her powers were beyond what she knew now.
"Damn," Peter mumbled. "Remind me not to get to her bad side."
"Guys, it's over here -- woah..." Scott awed at the large blasted hole in the wall, showing three children inside a laboratory, each of them brushing each other's dusts off their clothing. Ten scientists laid senseless beneath their feet as if they had knocked them out themselves.
Eleanor blinked twice before registering that her children had just taken out the doctors that was about to experiment on them. "I had it under control, Nate." Anastasia commented, fixing her shirt.
"Pleading to them was futile, Ana. They were determined in sedating us." Nathaniel wiped the ash off his face. "If Jake and I didn't fight back, we could be on those beds right now, picked apart like robots."
The brunette's mouth slightly hung open as she listened to their conversation. "Well, it looks like you didn't saving then." she remarked, putting her hands on her hips.
"Mom!" Nathan and Ana shouted, running towards her. They both hugged her tight, squeezing her. "We heard dad! He's somewhere with that... god!" informed Nathan, anxiously.
"How'd you all get out?" Raven asked, kneeling in front of Nate and Ana.
"Well, long story short, I tried to talk them out of it, auntie, and in a short while, they were about to not follow their plan," narrated Anastasia, visibly frustrated. "but then Nate decided to explode everything and Jake used his powers to render them all unconscious."
Nathan shook his head. "Diplomacy wasn't going to work with them, Ana. I sensed their minds. They were about to inject us with some chemical that I am very certain should not be inside our body. I am not sorry for what Jacob and I have done."
Eleanor sighed. Nathan sounded so much like his real father. She wouldn't be surprised though. Her son always had that in him. The way he talked, the way he observed people, and even the way he would make his presence known to people. They were almost similar. She only hoped her son didn't inherit his impulsive nature.
"Okay, both of you just... stop. We have to go save your dad. Let's go." She then placed a kiss on top of their heads before taking them with her. The group stayed together and jogged towards the exit where they reached a hangar with a jet inside.
"This way!"
"Nice." commented Hank as they all took in the aircraft in front of them.
Valerie moved forward at the front, standing beside Hank and Eleanor. "Holy shi..." she started, but then Eleanor stopped her by placing her finger to Valerie's lips. The brunette then pointed her finger to their kids around who were studying the frosted glass capsules just meters away from them.
"Guacamole!" exclaimed Valerie instead. "Yeah, guacamole." She repeated when the kids listened to her. "You know, what's a guacamole, Nathan? Jake? It's an avocado-based dip, spread, or salad that was first developed in Mexico. What do you not know that, you little people?"
Eleanor chuckled at her behavior and stared back at the jet in front of them. "Hey, Hank. Do you think you can fly this thing?" Raven queried as she stepped in beside them.
"Yeah, I can figure it out."
"Hey, guys!" Scott called, gesturing to the suits inside the capsules. "Flight suits."
Seeing this, Raven snapped her head towards Hank, determined and vehement. "You got your warplane. Let's go to war."
Eleanor and Valerie shared a glance, not minding to even speak for they knew they were thinking the exact same thing.
Let's bring our enemy to its knees so hard he'll beg he never existed in this universe.
