{Starfall's POV}
"STARFALLLLLLL!!! GET UP, YOU LAZY DOG!"
I sighed and rolled over in my bed. My older sister, Fiercetooth, was shouting at me... again. It was time for school. Definetly my favorite and not. For one thing, that was because there were a lot of people, and I didn't really know anyone. For another, it was super annoying when the teachers announced pop quizzes, though I usually aced them.
When Fiercetooth's voice rang through the house again- "GET UP! IT'S TIME FOR SCHOOL!"- I actually got up.
"I'm up, I'm up," I called wearily down to her, just so that she wouldn't actually storm upstairs. Dressing in a simple white shirt and black pants and jacket, I ran downstairs, running a hand through my tousled, spiky black hair.
Fiercetooth, in her usual gang setup, stood by the door, one foot tapping impatiently and arms crossed. Her car keys dangled from her finger. "Eat your breakfast and let's go," she barked. Twenty-one years old and still ridiculously bossy.
Breakfast was delicious-blueberry pancakes with cream and syrup-but I'd barely had any time to put away the plate before Fieretooth dragged me out of the house, plopped me into the front seat, and started driving.
Now, there's one little thing I should mention: my sister has no clue what the two words 'speed limit' is. She has only two speeds, called fast and faster and occasionally fastest. I'd woken up late, but thanks to her lunatic driving, we got there ten minutes early. "Pick you up after school, little bro!" she called before screeching out of the parking lot.
My locker number was the same as last year's: 301. Barely nobody was there yet, just a few staff and kids around. I unlocked the locker and put my things in.
As I was arranging my books in order of my schedule, the loud click of the front door opening caught my attention, and I turned to see who was entering.
It was a girl. But not like any I'd ever seen before. For one, she was way skinnier than most people I knew-even me. For another, she was new, and it appeared she didn't have much hair. She stood slightly on her tiptoes, arms extended slightly at her sides, as if she was ready to take flight at the smallest sound.
This girl paused at the entryway, her sharp gold eyes surveying the halls. Then a familiar screeching noise filled my ears.
The school buses were here. And they were laden with kids, I knew. It was that screech that alerted me each day that I needed to hurry before I got caught in the fray.
The strange girl had noticed it too. She tilted her head, and when she heard the kids she really did take off, flitting gracefully to a locker only eight from mine. Unforunately, I didn't have much time to observe her.
I ran off to class just as the kids started piling in.
