Chapter 30
The morning was still and quiet in the little house. It was strange how peaceful it felt, knowing that he was miles away. But as I sat with my brothers at the table, a moment of calm finally within reach, my phone buzzed, shattering the silence.
One look at the screen, and my stomach dropped. It was him. Maxim noticed instantly. "Is that him?" he asked, his voice sharp. I nodded, unable to speak as he reached for my phone. His face darkened as he read aloud.
"Where are you? Answer me now, or you'll regret this."
Maxim's voice was like ice, each word dripping with disgust. A tense silence fell over the room as our phones started buzzing too, calls and messages from him-our father.
Lorenzo cursed under his breath, his hands clenching into fists as he glanced at his own screen.. "He's fucking unhinged. He really thinks he can just... summon us?"
"Miray," Elijah said softly, looking me straight in the eyes, his face filled with concern and a growing anger. "You don't have to hide anything anymore. Tell us everything he did to you. I know it must be difficult and.... uncomfortable but we need to know the truth."
Their eyes were on me, waiting. I'd carried these memories alone for so long that I felt I couldn't even say them aloud. But they deserved to know, and the words started tumbling out before I could stop them.
"He never just punished me for little things," I whispered, voice trembling. "It was worse... so much worse than that. He had this way of reminding me that I'd never be free from him."
Ethan's jaw clenched, his knuckles turning white. "What exactly do you mean, Miray?"
I took a shaky breath. "It started with the things he'd say, how he'd make me feel like I was nothing. But if I was even a second late or missed a call, he'd make sure I 'learned my lesson.'"
My brothers' faces twisted with anger as I went on, each word pulling back the layers I'd hidden for so long.
"He'd grab me," I continued, my voice barely above a whisper. "My wrist, my arm... wherever he could get a hold of. And if I tried to pull away, he'd squeeze harder, saying that I was a 'pathetic little girl' and that no one would care if I told them what he'd done."Elijah's hands trembled as he gripped the edge of the table.
"He didn't just want me to feel pain. He wanted me to be afraid. He'd get in close, like he could see every fear in my head. And if I showed any sign of breaking, he'd back off-just enough to leave me on edge." My voice broke, and I looked down, feeling tears prick at my eyes. "He made sure I knew he could do whatever he wanted... and he'd remind me that no one would believe me if I told."
Lorenzo's jaw clenched, his face a mask of fury. "That sick bastard. He really thought he'd get away with this?"
"And it only got worse," I whispered, the shame burning in my chest. "He... he'd get too close. And he'd say things... things that no father should say." I took a shuddering breath, barely able to say it. I felt disgusted with myself. "He'd make comments, touch my face, tell me I was his, that I didn't get to escape him. And he'd always, always make me feel like there was nowhere I could hide."
Maxim's face twisted in rage. "He... he actually-" He couldn't finish, his face darkening with disgust. "That motherfucker deserves to rot."
Ethan looked ready to throw something, his voice shaking with barely controlled fury. "That sick son of a bitch he did this to his own daughter?"
I nodded, forcing myself to keep going. "And when I started pulling away, when he realized I wouldn't fight back, he just kept going. He'd back me into corners, he'd threaten that if I tried to leave, he'd make it worse for you all." I could barely speak, the fear still so vivid in my mind. "And... then Adrian showed up."
Their expressions darkened further, their anger sharpening. They'd seen Adrian's twisted side, but they didn't know everything.
"At first, Adrian was different. He seemed... safe," I choked out, feeling my voice shake. "But it didn't take long for him to show his true colors. He'd start with little things, making sure he knew where I was. And if I didn't answer him, he'd find me."
Maxim's hand slammed down on the table, his face twisted with rage. "He actually tracked you down? That controlling fuck-"
Elijah placed a hand on his shoulder, a silent reminder to stay calm, though I could see the anger seething in his own eyes.
"It got worse," I continued, feeling a wave of nausea. "He'd grab me, hold me in place, say that I didn't have a choice. That he owned me . He'd push me against walls, hold me there even when I begged him to let me go."
Lorenzo's hands were trembling, and I could see the horror in his eyes as I kept speaking. "There were times he'd touch me, hold me close, and he didn't care if I said no. He'd just... he'd laugh, saying that he could do whatever he wants"
Lorenzo's face twisted, his eyes blazing with fury. "If he so much as breathes near you again, I'll make sure he regrets it."
Maxim's expression was cold, his voice low and lethal. "Both of them deserve to pay for what they did to you."
The room was thick with rage, each of them grappling with the horror of what they'd just learned. Then, Elijah moved closer, kneeling beside me, his hand gentle on my shoulder.
"Miray," he said softly, his voice thick with emotion. "You didn't deserve any of that. None of it was your fault. They're the ones who were sick, who twisted everything... but you don't have to be afraid anymore. Not with us."
I felt my face crumple, tears slipping down my cheeks as Ethan and Lorenzo moved in closer, each of them wrapping their arms around me. "You're safe with us, okay?" Ethan whispered fiercely, his voice shaking. "You don't have to carry this alone."
"It wasn't your fault," Lorenzo said, his hand rubbing my back as I struggled to breathe through the tears. "Nothing they did to you was your fault, Miray. You didn't do anything wrong."
Maxim crouched in front of me, his face softening as he took my hands in his. "We're not letting them near you again," he promised, his voice filled with resolve.
I nodded, feeling the weight of their words settle in my chest, the fear starting to loosen.
But then my phone buzzed again, another message lighting up the screen. I glanced at it, my heart sinking as I read the words.
"Miray, this is your last chance. If you don't come back now, I'll be filing for custody. You're still a minor. I'll make sure you have no choice."
The room went silent as they read the message, the air thick with tension. Maxim's face darkened, his voice steely as he spoke.
"Let him try. He's not taking you back. We're going to protect you, no matter what he thinks he can do."
And for the first time, with all of them beside me, I felt a spark of hope. I wasn't alone anymore.
