Epilogue

" And so it is with great pleasure that we would like to announce the newest junior architect to join Mill Architectural Firm" Mikey squeezes Cheyenne's hand even though he didn't realize he was holding it. They all had been working very hard these last couple of months as the clock wined down to this moment. Jamaal had shown a lot of improvement and Cheyenne was taking all her projects by storm. She had managed to work two major projects at once, her time management skills close to perfection. She even scored a new client for the company. How could you compete with that? But he was told by all three chief architects that he was leading in the creativity department and thinking outside of the box. But was that enough? He wanted everyone and himself to be granted this opportunity. But there can only be one person.

Mrs Hamilton continues her announcement "will not be any one of you" she pauses and the room is silent. They all look at each other, mirroring each other's shock and confusion.

"I'm sorry what?" Jamaal is bold enough to ask.

"Let me continue. Not any one of you she says" placing emphasis on the one by raising her index finger. "But all three of you, will be joining the team". The room is silent for what feels like minutes but was probably only 2 seconds.  Cheyenne speaks first.

"So you are saying that we are all hired?"

"Yes that is what I am saying. The first time in the history of the company"

Cheyenne and Mikey look at each other. He lifts her hand and kisses it. They all stand in unison and start to congratulate each other. It is at the end of the day so they have the Friday night to celebrate. They all agree to go to Roscoe's for dinner because Kim will be working.

Back in their tiny office for three; they are all packing up to go home for the weekend. Cheyenne goes and sits on Mikey's desk cross legged exposing her caramel thighs. She is wearing a white pencil skirt and an army green frill top that matches her pumps perfectly. Her hair was let down and curled at her shoulders. She had cut it so it framed her face flawlessly.

"I am gonna go use the photo copy machine, be right back" Mikey knows all too well what her announcement means. As she hops off the desk and waltzes out down the hall to the file room where the photo copying machine is. He looks over his shoulder  at Jamaal who is busy on his phone texting. He might have heard everything but gave nothing away. He stands there a minute thinking about all that had happened in the last two months. The blessings that reigned down on him.

He started going to church again which meant his spiritual life was no longer suffering and as a result he could find peace with some of the demons he was battling. He and Caroline were able to find a place where she was happy with Simon and even though he didn't like the man, he could be happy that his mother was happy. Johny boy remained his rock throughout everything, his constant voice of reason when Chrissy would show up at church or at their house with her baby bump starting to show. Thankfully it wasn't his child but belonged to Matt. As far as he knows they are not together. He still cares for her, but sometimes just because you care for someone doesn't mean they should be in your life.

And then there is Cheyenne, the beautiful woman whose presence alone could draw him from the depths of darkness that his thoughts could dig him into. My light at the end of the tunnel. He remembers that night that brought them closer together. Though she didn't say yes, and surprisingly Mikey was hoping she would; he understood why marrying some man she met 2 months prior who might possibly have a child on the way, would not be smart. But non-the-less he couldn't be happier to have Cheyenne Forbes as his girlfriend and now permanent co-worker. The Chief Architects had eased up on their "no relations rule". They saw that there romance didn't affect their work.

Mikey's phone buzzes in his pocket.

Cheyenne: I'm done copying.

The text makes him smile. He slips it into his pocket, and walks out the office as nonchalantly as possible; trying to slow the urgency in his steps. He opens the door to find her leaning against the machine. Her two top buttons undone to reveal her hidden cleavage.

"What took you so long?" she says arms crossed over her chest.

"I was just thinking about how blessed I am to have a woman like you waiting for me in the file room, looking like an almost angel" he says walking towards her and wrapping her in his arms.

"I am an angel. I went to church the last two Sundays remember" she says with a childish pout. So cute

"I know and I love you for that. You are my blessing" he plants a gentle and soft kiss on her forehead. She looks up at him, with big brown eyes.

"And you are my saving grace Brooksy. I love you too".
