I slowly woke up and heard some classical music coming from the radio. 

Arthur: How did I get here? 

As I slowly get used to my surroundings, I noticed that I wasn't wearing my usual attire. I realized I was wearing a commander outfit when I took a look at my sleeves. 

Arthur: I don't remember my phone doing that, it must be from the darn app...

I adjusted myself and noticed a note that was placed on my desk.  It read the following: Welcome to the office, Commander Arthur. We are glad that you chose to begin your new journey here. As the commander, your job is to command these shipgirls and that's it. Send them on missions, be with them, the skies the limit. If you wish to return to the real world for any reason like retiring or something personal occurred, you may simply press the app button and follow the provided instructions. Please be gentle with them, they are not sex toys or anything. We hope you enjoy your new life as a commander.  -Azur Lane HQ

Arthur: Well this is indeed something. Where do I start? 

Since I chose Laffey as my starter ship, I decided to visit her to see how things are doing. She was sleeping peacefully after I took a peek in her dorm. Since I didn't want to disturb her, I slowly closed her dorm room door and went to do something else. I checked out the other dorms and they were a mess and a nightmare to see. The wallpaper was worn and old, the floors were tattered, and a lot of stuff was unusable. 

Arthur: Might as well kill some time while being here. 

I proceeded to clean up the dorms for a while until they were shaped the way I wanted them, nice and tidy. Since my background is mostly in keeping things organized and clean, I might as well do it anyway. 

Timeskip 

It has been almost an hour for me to clean up the dorms.  Unfortunately, I woke Laffey up in the process and she stared at me for a long time. 

Laffey: Did commander wake Laffey up? 

Arthur: Sorry to wake you up, I was in the middle of cleaning up the dorms. I'll clean yours up afterward since you were sleeping. 

Laffey: Oh ok, we can take care of the rest for you. 

Arthur: I appreciate your help but I got this on my own. Also, what do you mean we? 

Laffey: Oh, the commander hasn't seen Long Island before? 

Arthur: You mean the blue eyes girl with long brown hair and the headphones? I saw her a while ago, but maybe my head's playing tricks on me. 

Laffey: Oh I see, I'll find some papers that you need to do later on. 

Arthur: I'll get them myself, Laffey. You should get some rest if I were you. 

Laffey: Oh ok. 

Arthur: Don't worry about me. I'll help you if you need anything, just rest on the couch for now until your room is cleaned. 

Laffey yawned and slept on the couch. I can hear her snoring loudly which doesn't bother me that much. I continued to clean up the dorms until they were done remodeling. 

Timeskip in third person 

Arthur was exhausted after cleaning up the dorms. The whole dorm rooms were in pristine condition and he can never be proud of that. He saw that girl again and decided to ask her if she was Long Island. 

Arthur: Are you Long Island? 

Brown-haired girl: I might be, why? 

Arthur: Laffey mentioned you helping me with cleaning up the dorms. I saw you earlier but I wasn't sure about it. 

Long Island: That's me, I just pretend to be a ghost while you were working. 

Arthur: Right, anything new so far? 

Long Island: Not that I know of, but you do have 10 new ships coming up soon from construction. It's a welcoming gift for new commanders so I decided to commence the construction while you were busy. 

Arthur: That's nice. I might see them tomorrow. 

Long Island: Ok, since I'm your secretary, I'm going to be with you until you want a new secretary. You should know about that. 

Arthur: I know, Long Island. 

Long Island: Where are you heading off to? 

Arthur: The HQ, I have to get some papers to work on. 

Long Island: Should I help you with working on some?

Arthur: No thanks, I can handle them on my own, Long Island. 

Long Island: Oh ok, what else do you want me to do? 

Arthur: You can check on the construction from time to time. 

Long Island: Are you sure you do need my help? 

Arthur: I'm good, Long Island, thanks for asking. 

With that sorted out of the way, Arthur headed to the headquarters to start some paperwork. 

Arthur's POV

[Location: Unknown] 

[Time: Present] 

I still felt hazy after explaining how I was introduced to Azur Lane. The blue-haired woman named Sovetskaya Belorussia was interrogating me on how I was becoming a most wanted person. But I don't how I got here and why fate led me here. But the only thing I can piece it all together was on recalling events. 

Sovetskaya Belorussia: There was something about a possible psychotic breakout incident that happened during that day you first joined Azur Lane. You remember it, don't you? I assume you know of the public uproar of harems happening to those who are similar to you. 

Arthur: I never heard of them at all. 

Sovetskaya Belorussia: That can't be true. Every commander knows about a harem can be easily made when they start playing Azur Lane and it increases over time. I've no doubt you heard about it. 

Arthur: I was a late bloomer at that time. 

Sovetskaya Belorussia: That's a fair point. To be frank, you end up breaking the cycle compared to other commanders. 

I don't know what she meant, "breaking the cycle" to be honest. For all I know, it doesn't sound pleasant to me. 

Sovetskaya Belorussia: Let me rephrase it, out of every comrade I met along the way, you were different from the rest of them. Turns out, the comrades I had were those typical males who would be a bitch over teenage girls. I question why they would be so immature. Not like it matters because that's like the majority of the population of Azur Lane. But in terms of forming a harem, they end up wanting to go with you after meeting them the first time. Heck, the comrades I have known had to wait until the decision was made. Continue where you left off and tell me everything truthfully. What happened around that time?

[Location: Azur Lane Office]

[Time: Past]

Countless hours had passed by from doing a lot of paperwork. I wasn't so sure of how I was going to turn in for the night because I'm not at home anymore, but luckily a room was provided for me to use. Before I decided to turn in for the night, Long Island stopped me. 

Long Island: Oh Commander, there you are. I was going to inform you the construction will be done tomorrow. You'll see the new ships first thing in the morning.

Arthur: That's great news. 

Long Island: And I know we met; but if you're going to switch secretaries, will you visit me later on? 

Arthur: Sure, but why ask me now?

Long Island: It's just I get replaced early by other girls, that's all. 

Arthur: I'll visit you when I get the chance. 

Long Island: Thanks, Commander... 

She smiled at me as she headed off to bed. Tomorrow is another day for me perhaps. 

Timeskip again (Morning)

I didn't sleep well as I woke up from the bed I was sleeping on. It didn't feel the same as how I usually would sleep. I slowly prepared myself since new ships were done constructing as Long Island mentioned last night. I wasn't ready to introduce myself to the girls. Despite the distaste coming from the girls in high school, I assumed that it would be the same thing.  But then I decided to give it my best and confront the situation all by myself. Ten shipgirls is going to be a lot for me, especially if they were the most popular ones. Turns out, they were friendly to me as I introduced myself to them. They weren't the best of my interest for being a secretary, but I still treated them with respect. By the time the 9th shipgirl was already done, there was someone that stood out to me, a female with a black ponytail and a snowy uniform with gold. She also had a white bow tie that tied up her hair. 

???: Excuse me, are you the Commander? 

Arthur: Yes ma'am. Commander Arthur in the flesh. 

By the looks of it, I finally found someone that can be my new secretary for now.
